You never know, in forty years time when that little one tastes ketchup, they'll have vague subliminal memories of Baldersdale :-)
Morning all. Good to hear you enjoyed, Kath, I'm going to have to look up Baldersdale on a map to fin out where it is!The holiday went far too quickly for me. Too much to do. I wish I'd learn to spread jobs out instead of saving them until school holidays, but these ones were necessary. Wedding in Peterborough at the beginning of the week and lunch with outlaws yesterday. All in all it was quite eventful! Back to the exams now, internal for the littlest darlings and and GCSE's for the year 10's, poor things!
Morning. Happy feeling that I can sink back into the work in progress, tempered by the knowledge that apart from today and tomorrow, I don't have a free day till Sunday to do a bit more! Hope everyone's well this sunny (here) morning.
MorningNathan has had me up since 2am so I haven't really read the previous posts. I read some and can't remember what I read.
Congrats to Will's ex-teenager. She's earning more than me!
A daughter as a retirement plan... I'm not sure about Rosemary, but it wasn't my original idea when she was born.Sad day as my elderly Border Terrier went in her sleep last night. She hadn't been ill, just finally stopped.
A consummation devoutly to be wished, Will. Happy to go in my sleep without illness, but not just yet, eh?
Well, usual Sunday night sleep! Decided to go to the doc anyway, if the results aren’t all back, I’ll ask her about my feet/knee – it’s not as bad as Sat, but uncomfy sitting at my desk and making my sciatica twinge a bit. Still not sure about my TV either, I love the functions on it, but find it very dark, slightly better now I’ve increased the brightness and still unsure about the size. Was really windy yesterday, not as bad today, but blue skies going and grey clouds coming! Glad you had a good week off Geoff, even if it felt too hectic! Sorry that Nathan had you up most of the night Jud, hope work isn't too busy for you! Sorry to hear that Will, such a shock when it is unexpected.
Hi all, is it possible to search Goodreads for a book similar to one i have read. I would like to look at books similar to 'The Last hillwalker.'
MorningIt was roasting yesterday in the office so I've come in today with sandals and no tights. Bet it rains later and turns freezing.
Yowza! Rain here later, according to the forecast. It's warm, though. Can't win 'em all and it's brilliant growing weather.
Almost 5 am and I cannot get to sleep. Fortunately, I can catch up a bit during the day. Unfortunately, that usually means no writing. But it's warm here and we've been in the lovely outdoor pool two days in a row. I could get used to this.
Hmm, woke up with a sore throat and sinus pain, then when I got in the car I had an eyelash bothering me and my eye has been bloodshot since, and it hurts a bit when I move my head back, but it seems to be my forehead rather than my eye. I’m a bit concerned, but not getting the light sensitivity or constant pain like last time, so hope it’s nothing. If it is still like this in the morning I’ll go back to the docs though. Had to sit in the docs for an hour again last night, there were lots of signs reminding people to only discuss one problem, so I am going back for my blood test results! She is fairly sure my ‘good’ foot is plantar fasciitis and gave me some exercises for it. She isn’t sure why my ‘bad’ foot is still a funny colour, although I can pretty much bend the toe now, so decided to refer me back to the rheumatologist. Not sure what the point is personally, my inflammatory markers are fine, I did wonder about nerve issues and she said they can cause discolouration. Weather not as bad as forecast though. Sorry you had a bad night sleep Alicia, great you have been able to go in the outdoor pool!
Instead of making you come back, they should schedule you 15 min. for each problem - easy for them to say 'come back,' much harder on the patient to make two or more trips.Bodies are less cooperative than jobs - they tend to hurt when they hurt, instead of on a schedule.
Does anyone know of any books that are set in all 7 continents? I'm doing a summer reading challenge and one of the prompts is to cover all 7 continents. Obviously, this would be easier done in several books but I thought I'd ask if there was a single option :o)

Morning all. Warm morning but overcast again. Six weeks until the holidays and the little darlings are already starting to wind down. Having to whip up enthusiasm at this point can be a challenge!
Dry and sunny here. Wonder if it'll last. Got friends coming for lunch today. Better get a wriggle on.
Raining here and I left my running gear on the train this morning so no run for me at lunch even if the rain stops.
Well, had some minor light sensitivity last night, just for a second when I went into a different room or something brighter on TV, nothing like last time. Woke up at 4, opened my eyes and it started streaming! Woke up again at 6.15 and it was still bloodshot and watery, so decided to go to the doc. Got there for 8, they only had one doc on, which isn’t one I’m keen on, but I was the second person there. He should start at 8.30, but my watch said 8.23 when he called the first person, didn’t look at my watch when I got called, but I was out for 8.35! He is fairly sure it is conjunctivitis, but due to my history, has made an app at the eye clinic for 6.30, my neighbour is taking me just in case I need to have dilating eye drops in. I had to go back in the waiting room while he got hold of the eye clinic, but called me back in at 8.45, so managed to get to work for 9, quicker than when I make an app!! I spoke too soon yesterday, we ended up with some quite heavy rain. Dry at the moment, but getting greyer. You’d think that would make sense Alicia! Our apps are actually 10 mins long, although it does say to let them know when booking if you think you will need longer. Hope you get your running gear back Jud!

That rule about 10 min appts and only one issue at a time is standard I think - there is a big notice up about it in my surgery.
I have bought some heel insoles, as I can put those on top of the insoles that they gave me for me for my bunions, and some that slip on your heel so can be worn without shoes. Eye person says I do have iritis again, mustn’t be as bad this time as I only have a weeks worth of meds and if the dilating drops are too much, I can stop after 4 days. I have to go back in a weeks time as she thought something at the back of my eye didn’t look right, maybe that is why that eye hasn’t felt normal since, despite 3 people telling me it is fine. Not sure what to do about work, I’m not allowed to drive while on the drops, which is a good thing as I can barely see the screen, I brought my laptop home just in case but not much help if I can’t see! Have left a message for my boss and will try and catch him before he goes into a meeting tomorrow. I obviously could get a lift/taxi, but again not much use if I can’t see. Rather annoying as I haven’t got much left of my book (the eye clinic was running late, was there an hour, but at least they have their own meds, so I didn’t have to go to a pharmacy for them) but can’t see well enough to read it! Thanks Pam, I have done that and it does seem a lot better. Yes, it is Pam, although frustrating as surely getting everything done in one go is better than going back 3 times!
Sorry to hear of the aches and pains. My hamstring is easing a little - going slowly, though.Sad news about your little dog, Will, even if a peaceful way to go after a long, contented life.
Pam wrote: "That rule about 10 min appts and only one issue at a time is standard I think - there is a big notice up about it in my surgery."yes standard here as well
MorningWas up too late last night and I bought 4 more books at the charity shop yesterday. Thank goodness I can read in work and get through my books as quickly as I buy them
Well, woke up at 5.30, eye felt gritty and when I went to put first lot of drops in, it was swollen half shut and watery. I've just done the third lot, and it is less swollen and not as red, so hopeful that it has been caught a lot earlier this time. And as I've had it before, I'm sat with an eye pad and mask covering it, and sunglasses ready for leaving the house. Opted to ring in sick today and see how it is in the morning. Might also increase my anti-inflams for a few days. unfortunately, it is sunny! Got both yodel and dpd deliveries, so bonus that I will be in, although neighbour did want to go out for food shopping when one is due!
Good noon to you all.Cake club today and someone 'helped' before I got there by putting up 8 folding tables with 8 chairs each. I usually put up 4 so it took me yonks to clear up afterwards! Lord protect us from helpers!
That sounds painful, Desley. We're getting ready for a forecast storm to hit Jersey. I think it's Storm Miguel. The cats will be on lockdown tonight.
Been a tough week. At least tomorrow is Friday.
I think that we're going to get hit by a rain front moving up the country, looks as if it's going to be pretty bad about 4pm
Afternoon, couldn't get on this morning. Eye looks practically normal, but sight still blurry so am off today, but hopeful to go in on Mon, I was bored by 7am yesterday! Keep waking up at 5.30, but at least got back to sleep today. Neighbour took me food shopping yesterday so we won't starve but I did struggle to read the packaging. Was sunny this morning, but has now started to rain, so hopefully I can swap eye patch for sunglasses. Luckily I have to wait in for a delivery so cant go out with her today. Hope the storm isn't too bad Kelly, cats wont be happy with you!
Been round the village church to do a wedding arch. This time I had two apprentices and the work went very much faster. I did the curve of the arch and my friends did the uprights. Wasn't expecting the afternoon off. Off in the sense that I can now start the other jobs lining up for my attention. At least I'm never bored.
We've got out of the city for the weekend. Lovely and cool up in the hills. Nice and quiet except for some odd annoying insect that's as loud as a Greek cicada.Loads of mossies too. Being chewed to bits!

Well, the storm didn't actually appear last night! However, it is blowing a massive hoolie right now, the sea is dark, waves crashing, trees blown about and rain, rain, rain. Desley, we let the cats out last night as the weather was okay, but I am not sure about tonight! Sorry you're having trouble with your eyes.
Kath, I am sure you will NEVER be bored. You have so much going on.

I'm assuming it's where the Glas Weegians live?
Kath has it - weegie is how us sophisticates on the east coast describe those from Glasgow.Actually it didn’t rain, was sunny all day, and I won an award :)
Well done Rosemary! In other news a conversation on my FB page has reminded Jim that in WW2 the British Army had 'combat tractors' and I am agog to see what he does with that...

it's true, I'll have to have a look about :-)
Morning all, raining here! Woke up with toothache and eye was a bit sore, now knee is sore! It is our food festival today, I want to go and get some fudge, suspect I'll be running there, getting what I want and running back as it's supposed to rain all day! Feel sorry for the traders. Not sure if we are going to the new B & M today, depends how neighbour feels. Think I'm going to have to find things to do in the house to stop being bored, even though I have loads of TV to watch and if I put my eye patch on, I can read.

I blame the cat too, some of the positions I wake up in. She is only 5.4kg so can only imagine how much harder with a big dog! Kids eh, Kath
