No doubt you'll be busy, so they should go quickly. Hopefully!
MorningI hope you feel right as rain soon, Patti.
Got a departmental coffee morning this morning. That'll give me something to do
Sciatica got really bad yesterday, took me 3 goes to get out of the car, and when I knelt on the floor to give Lucy her supper, I struggled to get up. Luckily the magnet has kicked in now, still a bit sore and tender, but 95% better than yesterday, don’t think I’ve had it like yesterday, stretching my leg was excruciating, and of course Wed is litter tray day. Luckily Thu is anti-inflam day. Another sunny day, although quite windy, I woke up at 6.20 and felt human enough to get out of bed. Friend is coming round tonight to pick up her dog food, hopefully getting that won’t aggravate my back. Sorry you have had to drag yourself into work Patti, hope the 5 weeks go quickly for you. Sounds a nice thing for work Jud.
It is quite nice, it's a break from the office and a chance to chat to colleagues you don't work with every day. There is usually a presentation of some sort and today's happened to be on the project I'm working on. One of the last ones was about Brexit from an academic (he's a faculty dean) who is involved with the discussions or something, he goes to Belgium and London a lot.
Brief hello, have just discovered McMini has a cake sale tomorrow and I'm supposed to have made cakes. Better get cooking!Cheers

Good moaning! All having a lie-in? We've been for our little constitutional and that's probably it for the day. We thought of nipping to the seaside for a chip butty on the seafront but it's so cold and forecast to shower heavily - so we're not. It would have been lovely yesterday but I was otherwise engaged.
Morning!Kathleen has croup again so I've made a Drs appointment for her to check it out in case there is an underlying reason for it. Poor wee pet is not herself at all. I'm only popping in now that the caffeine has kicked in and my brain is working :o)
Can't decide what book to start next on my kindle, might reread Game of Thrones... too much choice.
How is your sciatica today Desley? And your foot? It's a shame it was bothering you so much yesterday.
Feeling any better Patti?
Oh, we are quiet, aren't we? We're probably all very, very busy making the world a better place :o) Somebody's got to try.And no, Kath! I did not have a lie in. I woke up at a quarter to five and couldn't get back to sleep, so I got up an hour later. This means I shall keel over any minute now.
Still a bit sore and itchy, but it’s Friday. Lot cooler and overcast today, have got my boots back on. Friend came round, her thank you for me ordering her dog food and CD’s was some more vegan chocolate and some treats for the cats! Food shopping after work, looking forward to getting some sweet potato waffles. Have found a new TV podcast, I’m listening from the beginning and it was when Bodyguard was on, so really odd listening to something so long after watching it. Hope you managed to bake some cakes MT. Fingers crossed Kitty is fine Jud, thanks for asking about me. Good luck picking a book to read.
I did end up having a lie in but only because Kitty was up half the night. I got up at 6 with her then she drifted back over and I got back into my own bed for 5 minutes... Woke up at 7.20!
It was a bit wet first thingLater on a friend of mine dropped round to collect some old chairs I've been storing for her. She 'upcycles' stuff

It was a bit wet here, and I had to go out and post a parcel. Of course, now that i'm home again the sun is shining!
Upcycling works for me too, Jim. When I get the chance.Had K in hospital briefly yesterday for a cortisone injection into her knee. The pain relief from it kicked in really fast, so I'm hoping that this one lasts a good long time.
Then had my youngest here for the afternoon - she's dog sitting for her mum while revising for her final exam of the 4 year degree course next Tuesday.

I follow her on Facebook. Lovely stuff.
Slow start here due to having to deal with 'business hours.' The East Coast of the States is three hours later than California, and it's the last day before the weekend, so everything I really needed to get started had to come first - or I lose three more days. When businesses close early on Fridays, not uncommon, then I really have to move: if I get up at eight, I only have a couple of hours. Writing ends up taking second place, and often doesn't happen because 'business' sucks the energy out. It's never fast and easy!
At least you guys are all in the same time zone.
So far, it's the main drawback I've found to California.
time zones isn't something we think about much expect but the EU has been trying to alter thingsV#https://www.timeanddate.com/news/time...
The problem is that for those of us in the far west (UK, Ireland, Portugal,) we don't fit well into the same time zone as Poland and Germany
In the lives of ordinary people we don't notice it much because so few of us actually have to phone another EU country so we don't have the problems you have
I think we went from London to Bath, stopping at Stonehenge, and back on the same day - when we visited.
Urgh, a really bad night sleep, got to sleep ok, woke up at 12.30, then couldn't get back to sleep. Think Lucy got fed up of the tossing and turning cos at 2.45 she decided to lie on me! Got to sleep some time after 3, briefly woke up at 7, then got up again at 8.30 so thought I better get up and feed the cats. Set the alarm for 10.30 as I'm taking a friend to a farm shop and café for lunch, we need to set off at 12. Bit overcast today, but the rain forecast has gone. Still itchy, although it's only one area, the rest aren't, but not as sore. Sorry that dealing with things is such a task Alicia.
Morning each. A grey day but we've decided to brave it and have a ride this afternoon. We should have the country to ourselves as there's something to do with football on the telly.
You feeling any better now Desley? Hope the eye's hunky-dorey Kath. Sun is threatening to make an appearance - been MIA for days and days. Got up with the crows, probably the ones causing all the trouble, to get to the fish place by the harbour. Seems we have a shortage of chancre crabs, but spider crabs galore. Got some seafood as friends and their hubbies round for dinner tonight, then went to the supermarket and M&S (well, my dessert has to come from somewhere!).
Just de-shelled 9 million Gambas and French prawns (hmm perhaps a slight exaggeration!) Now off to get the table set. Mind you, before I do that I have to set the table up. We only have room for 4 at our usual table so bung a trestle table up when we have more people, and we're 6 tonight. Right, better get on with everything else I have to do. Catch you later.

On the flip side, we had dinner on the terrace with one of our new friends, and it was beautiful - except that two of us discovered, when we got up to leave, that we had been sitting on cushions which were soggy from the recent rains! As I said, it's only water, but it was funny.
My daughter pointed out that we are now importing nettles from Italy! So I checked, you can buy nettles for £22.95 a kilo
I'm now offering pick your own!
And blogged about it
Had a lovely time with my friend, there wasn't all that great a vegetarian selection, but it was somewhere she had never heard of, which is the main thing. She had no idea where we were going till we got there, apparently I'm the only person she trusts to surprise her for places to go, which is nice. The farm shop was nice, came back with homemade crumble, cheesecake, custard and scone. Tired and thirsty now, don't think I'm having a proper tea, just cheesecake!Hope you have a lovely meal with your friends Kelly. Glad you have a nice meal on the terrace Alicia, it is only water!
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "it is only water! ..."It was such a good meal, yes, we were laughing about it.
It's a new venue for our facility, and I don't think they've worked out all the kinks yet. This was probably the first time people used the terrace so soon after rain.

Some years ago, Bristol and London had different time zones. Of course they were about half an hour apart, so it didn't make much difference...
is that right Jim? there's a load of beetles on the path at my local hole in the hedge train stop so maybe I'll start a little side business!we were at the Balmoral Show (big farming event) with the kids today, it was wet and the kids are still run down so we only managed a couple of hours. probably wouldn't have bothered except we head bought the tickets in advance! it was good though and will make the effort to go next year again.
shows often are, and can actually be more fun when it is a bit clashy and you only get the people who really want to be there :-)
Well, slept through till 5 when I got disturbed by a noise, gave up trying again at 6.30 and got up to get a cup of tea, disturbing the girls in the process. Am going to have some food now, and maybe I might get a nap. As I didn't do very much yesterday, I have housework and catching up on my book challenges, then a nice relax in the bath. Just been offered 3 months Prime for £15, I wasn't going to keep it, just wanted the video, but this works out cheaper.Sorry you didn't get to fully enjoy the Balmoral Show Jud.
Sorry you're up too early, Desley.I'm doing the same thing - getting a snack - to see if I can get to sleep. Not working so well.
Morning. So warm and balmy we ate breakfast in the garden. Sister's cooking dinner so that's me done for the day.
A bit gloomy and grey first thing but it's sort of getting out now. We do actually need a drop of rain
Alicia wrote: "Sorry you're up too early, Desley.I'm doing the same thing - getting a snack - to see if I can get to sleep. Not working so well."
I managed an extra hour, hope you got some more sleep
Bit of a grim day but it’s reasonably warm. Very tired (I think it’s probably hormones) but had a massive sleep last night. Power Zeus aplenty which is why I reckon hormones are to blame. I have been trying a new diet and exercise regimen that’s supposed to help ladies my age. I’m only loosely following the diet although it’s supposed to work really fast so I am tempted to go hard core. It seems to have helped, anyway. I haven’t started the extra exercises but haven’t had a hot flush er hem ... I mean power surge for over a week! Woot! Could be a fluke but could be ...
Have done loads of washing, changed the beds and had a very pleasant day pottering. Lots of writing done, too.
Cheers
MTM

I did - thanks! And now I need a nap. I could barely keep my eyes open in church. Since they take us in a van, I don't have the option of choosing a later service. So this happens occasionally.
Sounds like it's working.I don't waste energy on much housekeeping any more. It's rather nice. But they don't make beds unless you pay extra. So I do that occasionally.
Alicia, our table is so small that 4 is a squeeze. Once I get everyone's plate on the table there's no room for anything else. Mind you, we only entertain about four times a year so who cares! Oh, I've had a soggy bottom like that before! MT - what's the diet? I could do with something . . .
Had a lovely night, although far too much rose was consumed. I can't go to bed and leave the dishes and mess in the kitchen. I just can't. So got to bed at 2am.
Had a shed-load to do today so just had to hunker down and get on with it.
Kelly wrote: "So got to bed at 2am. ..."I got to bed at 1, and had to get up at 2 because it wasn't working, and eat something, and change into something different, and do my stretches - some nights are like that!
But I hear you about cleanup.
Husband does that now - and, to be fair, makes all the mess that needs cleaning up. There are two styles of cooks/kitchen users: those who clean up as they go, and those who don't. I used to pick up when he cooked until I realized I would never make those messes, and resented cleaning them.
He doesn't mind cleaning up later, so I have learned to ignore.
Compromise, with patience, is the soul of long marriages - and doors that close between you.
Good morningI tried to post yesterday but the power kept going off.
Had a nice restful weekend.
23 more get ups.
Less than a month of weekdays.Does this mean you won't be renewing?
I don't remember you counting the days like this before.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "23 more get ups."9 weeks for us including half-term week and this week. The back half of the year always drags here because of the exams and marking. The littler darlings have exams soon after the break for a few days, but after that, they'll be fighting to wind down, which makes it a struggle to motivate them for the last few weeks.
Nice and sunny in the valley today, however, so lets see what the day brings!
morning! I've got training this morning so I've just picked up a coffee to keep me awake, effective minute taking doesn't sound like much fun. the balmoral show is like the biggest event in northern Ireland, there was a fun fair there and everything.
have you plans to move anywhere else at the end of the year Patti?
has anyone read While You Were Sleeping? a friend recommended it but I think I'm going to have to give up.
Morning. Sunny here. Off for a little constitutional, then we'll see what the day brings. It will include emptying one of the big compost bins to topdress the blackcurrants and raspberries. Yum. Sort of. You can't beat a bit of free, homemade compost.
Jud wrote: "morning! I've got training this morning so I've just picked up a coffee to keep me awake, effective minute taking doesn't sound like much fun. .."
Terry Pratchett defined power as being minute taker to a committee of deaf old men :-)
Another bad night sleep, and had to get up early as I have a doc app at 5. Counted my psoriasis spots last night, appear to have 50, but fortunately only a cluster of 12 are itchy, the rest don’t bother me, I wouldn’t know they were there. Itching not as bad, but still a bit, so am going to ask the doc for some steroid cream tonight. Blue skies today, but didn’t feel that warm. Glad you had a productive day MT, would be interesting to see how you do with being stricter with the diet and doing the exercise. Glad you had a nice time Kelly, even if you did suffer yesterday for it. Am afraid I’m good at leaving the kitchen in a mess, it’s why I have to do so much housework at a weekend, part of it is just tidying up from leaving things during the week. Glad hubby is good at cooking and tidying Alicia. Sorry you are still having power issues Patti, is that count down till the summer holiday, or something more permanent? Hope the training was more fun than it sounded Jud.
