Had a lovely weekend. Just sat around the hotel and read a book. I need more of that in my life.Did three loads of laundry before work this morning, though. Sheesh.
Let's see what's on for today.
Three lessons teaching, two lessons doing CPD and one meeting after the kids leave. Oh joy.
Out for dinner tonight, so at least there's that to look forward to.
Oh and the fearless is not in today. Good.
Did I mention he's breaking contract and leaving at the end of the year?
Lead so others will follow, eh?
Remember the saying, Patti, some brighten our lives when they arrive, and others when they leave :-)

And more importantly, why?
Thought you were doing well there, and now I hear about people escaping.
"Neighbour got me a lovely mothers day card from the cats. "That's brought my first big smile of the day, thanks Desley. Other little smiles followed - I don't always comment, but it's good to catch up with you all now and then.
Morning. Congratulations on the new job Lindsay! I hop your mum is loving her time with Dexter, how exciting for you all!
Patti, how quick is your washing machine that you got three loads done before work?
Here's a tip for you"3. Mosquito bites can be avoided by listening to electronic music - specifically dubstep, even more specifically by US artist Skrillex, according to a new study. Sound is "crucial for reproduction, survival, and population maintenance of many animals," says a team of international scientists, who subjected adult mosquitoes to the music to see if it would repel them."
Having never listened to dubstep (who knew this was a genre of music and not a band?" I think I'd rather take on the mosquitoes
Had a rubbish night sleep, combined with losing an hours sleep, so feeling a bit sick and headachy, luckily most of us are feeling it. To make it worse, this is the first full week I’ve had to do in 9 weeks! Had to come to work early as I’m picking my friends cats up from the cattery. Managed to change one of the clocks in the car – it is set to change automatically, but one button fixed it, the other one can only be changed when the car is in park. Might get round to doing the microwave clock too, we had a power surge the other week and I deliberately left it so I didn’t do it twice, that is about 8 hours behind! I was surprised that it was light at 6.30, thought it went darker initially? Ankle was really sore this morning, kept struggling when putting weight on it, but luckily figured out that I can put my plantar fasciitis socks under my tights! Glad you had a lovely weekend Patti, lounging around reading sounds great. You either have a quick washing machine or were up a long time before going to work! Sorry another person is leaving. Glad that made you smile Anna.
Evening all,Very long and busy day in London today. But my mum got here safe and her and Dexter seem to hit it off. He especially loved all the presents she brought him (surprise, surprise).
Hope you have all had a good Monday?
Sorry you didn't sleep so well Desley. Glad you had a good weekend Patti. I would much rather the Mosquito's Jud!

The completely useless and ineffective head. Not sure if he jumped before he was pushed or if he was pushed.

My machine here has a 30 minute cycle which I love. The 'proper' cycle takes over two hours! Constantly having to wash our clothes because of the climate and that length of a cycle would ruin them in days.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "The completely useless and ineffective head. Not sure if he jumped before he was pushed or if he was pushed...."hopefully they'll get a decent replacement.
A head can easily make or break a school
Morning all. Bit damp today, but at least it's not too bad. It's going to be another busy day with marking and teaching and whatnot, but the day goes quicker that way, so lots to look forward to!
Ours has a quick wash option but I have never actually timed it. Our washing machine is outside in the boiler house so I stick it on then at some point later on, when I remember, I go and retrieve the washing.I'm glad everyone seems to be having a good time Lindsay, Dexter will think it's Christmas with his Nannie here to spoil him.
Cold and sunny with us today
For all you teachers of one sort of another: Never, never, please, be discouraged. I owe so much to a few of my teachers and I have no way of thanking them now, so please accept my thanks to you instead of them. Keep up the good, inspiring work!
Thanks Anna.Comments like that make it worthwhile.
Not to mention the ahhhh moments on a child's face.
I just a fabulous double lesson with my year 8s. I do love my job.
Another rubbish night sleep, but don’t feel as bad as yesterday. Foot is still really sore though, but forgot to put my socks under my tights. Glad you had a lovely time with your mum and that Dexter had a lovely time Lindsay. My washing machine has a 30 min cycle too, but still couldn’t do 3 washes before work!! Good luck getting a better head.
I got a call from my son in law to ask me to meet the little lad from school as he was delayed. No problem I got there in plenty of time and it snowed on us! Unbelievable, as it had been so lovely and sunny this morning.

Thanks - that makes a lot more sense. Heads roll, and it affects those under them.
A quick hello, I'm off to a very early start, up with the birds this morning - so much to do, so little time... OK, OK, I'll shut up because I know I'm not the only one in this boat. And to those who have to take things slowly, I hope you will have a good day today.
Sorry been absent, had a bit of a relapse, I'm afraid.Woken up to the fields dusted in snow. In April. I suspect the plants that went out last week and wilted in the heat are not impressed.
Will wrote: "Sorry been absent, had a bit of a relapse, I'm afraid."Glad you're back; hope it's because you're better.
Morning, everyone. Finally got our home internet fixed after several weeks.Hope you're feeling better, Will.
Jud wrote: "MorningGood to see you back Will, I hope you are feeling more like yourself now."
Are you sure that feeling more like myself again would be an improvement?
Morning, all. Welcome back, Will. Take it easy this time!Final editing time, I hope, and I'm making oat crunch biscuits for the village cake club.

I assumed so but if not, I'll hope that you are feeling more unlike yourself instead
Well, another rubbish night sleep and sore foot, just feels like I’m forever saying that! Wow, that is so random Lynne! Hope you get everything done Anna. Hope you are feeling better now Will.
Afternoon! It's been a really busy few days in the valley. Lots of marking to do this week and next, and I'm damned if I'm going to do it over Easter. It's been relatively quite, today, which is nice. Let's hope it continues throughout the week!Hope people are feeling better. Have a good cake club, Kath, hope the editing goes well and look forward to reading the latest creation.
Evening all,Put my notice in today and got sent home while they process it. Never had this happen before.
Never mind, how is everybody doing?
I'd call that a plus tbh Lindsay :)Morning all, I think it's been raining all night which is unusual for here. And it's still raining! I'm picking up the key for my beach hut today but won't be taking all my stuff down unless it's dried up. I want to be open by Saturday though for the start of the Easter holidays!
Ohhh... do you have today off too then Lindsay? I've always hoped that would happen to me. Morning!
We're taking our Summer holidays up in Hopeman this year Rosemary! We're going up for the Gala week, last time we were their our friend had the use of a beach hut but I don't know if we will this time. Just waiting to see what Flybe are doing before we book our flights or we might just fly out of Dublin.
Didn't sleep well last night so must make tracks for coffee soon.
Morning, everyone. Horrible rain and grey clouds today, but no sign of yesterday's blizzard coming back.
Benjamin wrote: "Morning, everyone. Horrible rain and grey clouds today, but no sign of yesterday's blizzard coming back."Don't be too sure: it's started snowing here in the last ten minutes
Kath wrote: "And happy birthday, Gaff! Hope the little darlings don't take the shine off it for you. :)"Thanks Kath. It was actually a very good day as far as the little darlings go. Not once did I need to raise my voice, or ask twice. I should have birthdays more often!!
Snow in the valley today, not enough to be of consequence to attendance, but pretty nonetheless. The little darlings have, of course, returned to normal, so it's a bit manic ...
Congratulations on the job Lindsay!!
How do. Not morning any longer, but the cake club went well. It was heaving. Flower arranging this afternoon - it's all go - so I went!
Well, another rubbish night sleep but feet are a lot less sore! That may change after I wander to the co-op after work. We had a really random hail shower last night that only lasted about 5 minsWow, that is unusual Lindsay, have they said how long it will take? Glad no one is affected by the weather.
I've been sleeping badly too, Desley. I wonder is it the weather?! The bizarre, can't-tell-what-season-it-is weather.I'm so hungry today. Had a huge salad at lunch plus a bag of crisps and I feel like I haven't eaten anything, got back to my desk and had a crispy milky way and I'm still starving. I'm going to have to go to the shop today.
Happy Belated Birthday Gaff! I'm glad the littles were good to you.
