We had a grand car washing session yesterday. Husband and grandson did the business. I don’t wash cars either. I haven’t actually filled mine up at a petrol station either since buying it three years ago. Wonderful weather here though really warm and sunny.I think Harry has his book day costume sorted. An easy one this year. He’s got a bucket and his dinosaurs.
Morning. Village fish and chip lunch today. The van does the cooking, we do the rest. I'm on bread buttering duty.
Morning, all. It's the kind of sunny that comes through the windows at low angles and gets in everyone's way.
Morning all, day off and another bad night sleep! Nice sunny day, plan is to do some decluttering and got a delivery coming between 2 & 3. Oh no, hope your day improves Jud, like the sound of your day Kath. Can't believe you haven't filled your car with petrol Lynne!

But they might be able to fix it! Sometimes all it takes is an expert. Many good things get tossed because of labour costs to fix them, but volunteers make them usable for others.

My last post was perhaps a little previous, as I still feel like ddeath warmed up. Next time I'm deffo having the flu jab. I've lost at least a month's work, and a month of working in the garden which is possibly even more annoying
Morning, all. Blankets of fog today - the woodpeckers suddenly sound very sinister.Hope you're feeling better soon, Will and Jud both.
Very productive day off, I got bored after decluttering the first cupboard, so the rest was rather half hearted, but still got through over a black bag of rubbish and a black bag of clothes. I also found the spare lightbulb, so for the first time in 12 months, I have a pair of working wall lights – the front room seems very bright now though! Nipped to the co-op in the morning for some milk, and came home with 8 books – I was fairly sure I had read two, so didn’t pay for them, turns out I’d read three, so they are going back tonight. Tried to sit out reading, but it wasn’t quite warm enough, so I cut down some weeds and washed the front door instead. Then nipped to home bargains with my neighbour, don’t often go there. A lot cooler today and seems quite misty, saw two deer on the hill as I was walking through the car park this morning. Got the dentist at 2.10, and need some petrol, warning light came on this morning. Sorry that you are so unwell Will. Hope the funeral goes as well as these things can Kath.
Where does the week go??? I swear I blinked on Sunday and now it's Thursday.Ah, a sad day, Kath. Agree with Desley - hope it went as well as these things ever do.
Sorry about your colleague, Kath. Hope you see old friends at the funeral, and have good memories. You got a lot done, Desley, plus reading. I'm envious - all done here was getting a few more boxes unpacked, and I didn't even do that - the helper is wonderful.
New dentist this Friday - hope it isn't a big deal.Long weekend - our helper isn't available for three or four days, and we need the break from being helped to unpack, but she's been wonderful, and one of these days we'll be settled.
Progress today: guest bedroom beds for two!
If you're in the neighborhood.

Got the funeral of an old colleague today. Sad time."
It gets tough when it's somebody you've worked with a lot
Morning. Yes, she worked with me in the school office so we saw each other every day. She retired twenty-odd years back so I didn't see her much in recent years. Still, we were part of one another's lives.Have a good Friday, everyone.
MorningHad a bath last night when I should have just gone to bed. Feeling it today.
Sorry about your colleague, Kath
Cool again today, but not as misty. Got woken up at 5.30 by what I thought was Lucy crying, however when I turned over, she was fast asleep at the side of me! Then Chanel was quite noisy from 6am so didn’t really get back to sleep. Funny though, walked in to feed them and Coco jumped down from the pink scratching post again, so she must have been playing too. Didn’t end up going to the co-op last night, so need to do that after work, and our new Lidl opened yesterday, so having a wander there too, see if they sell the 1 thing I can only get from there. Wish I could learn how to relax, keep getting an eye twitch cos I’m tired. I wouldn’t be too jealous Alicia, I only got to read one chapter, it was too cold to sit outside longer. At least you have made some progress with your unpacking.
Morning all. Will, I sympathise. Kath, ditto, I discovered recently that one of my old bosses died this time last year. It's a bit grim when it's people nearer your own age. He was only 63. It's made me think a lot harder about the endless coughing I've been doing these past few weeks (he died of lung infection that they couldn't treat, they did multiple surgeries to no avail). Finally went to the doctors today and am now in proud possession of a seven day course of yellow and red horse pills. Should get rid of the sinusitis and the chest infection.
Weather is a bit overcast here now but warm. And of course, it's Friday, which is nice.
Cheers
MTM
Gotta say that we work with some truly lovely people here. Also some not so, but we do our best to avoid those. As you do.
I need a shower before bed as I was again gifted with a shower of Jasmine and I stink of it.
Ewwwwww. I hate the odour of jasmine.
Are the not so lovely people the ones who shower you in jasmine? I always think jasmine sounds really appealing but the reality is the smell and taste is stomach churning. So bored in work but it is doing wonders for getting through my TBR list (I have discarded 2 so far today!)
It vanished in a haze, Tim.I'm back on the high level antibiotics as I don't seem to be fully functional. Or at least, as functional as I ever managed
Got up feeling grumpy because I had an appointment at a new dentist - NJ is too far to go for cleanings - and then had to wait for a very long time while he took care of an emergency, but I liked him, he isn't pushing unnecessary procedures, and I have checked 'find dentist' off the list.Suddenly I'm feeling a lot more chipper!
Hope everyone else is, too.
Urgh, was so tired and in pain last night so went to bed early, unfortunately that meant I was awake at 5.30 and still a bit sore. Tried having a cup of tea and a painkiller, but still a bit sore and tired. Luckily not much housework to do this morning, me and my neighbour are going to Costco this afternoon, don't need anything but no doubt I'll come back with something. Then going to a friends, she's just had her bedroom redecorated and suggested I pop round and see it - told her if there was gin involved, I'd be there!Glad you are happy with the dentist Alicia. I've never thought of drinking tea black.
I always drink tea black. (Except green tea, of course. That I drink green.) I think that milk ruins the flavour
In Wales, meeting my great niece. Nearly 8 months old but still tiny. She smiles and laughs a lot.I don't usually like tea but have found peppermint and licorice which I do like.
How do? We went into Hull this morning, specifically to take some photos. The Knife Angel is in the city centre. It came here from Liverpool and is a sculpture made of knives handed in at an amnesty. The statue is also called The National Monument against Violence and Aggression. Pics on Facebook.
I’m all packed. I think I’ve done everything for tomorrow so we are off in a road trip. Hope the weather is better as it’s blowing a hooley here st the moment. Our neighbours said it hasn’t rained for a couple of months so we shall soon rectify that for them 😁
Sculpture is really powerful, Kath. Must've been something to see.Sorry to hear you've been in pain Desley. Take care. I went to the Opera House last night with Gwyn and Debs to see a talk about serial killers by an ex-policeman who had worked with the FBI. Really interesting. The theatre was completely packed out!
Really disappointed as had to move a writing deadline back. Reality is that I am run-ragged and overwhelmed with a massive co-project, and I need to concentrate on that. Still doesn't make me feel good about myself. I don't like to miss a deadline, even self-inflicted ones!
Out for a girlie lunch tomorrow. (well, age range is 50 to 80!!)
Well, did very well at Costco, only came home with cat litter and olives (we eat a lot, and neighbour normally buys them, so thought I'd offer for once). Now gone very wet and windy, would prefer an evening on the sofa, but instead picking up a curry on the way to my friends. That sounds a really interesting talk Kelly - really need to think about when to come to Jersey this year, need to find something interesting that is going on. Sorry that you are disappointed by moving your deadline, but better that than rush to do everything and not do a good job at it.
Saw a long piece on the Knife Angel on Countryfile the other week. Amazing thing, and every knife had to be blunted by hand - in case someone decided to climb the sculpture, it seems.
