Sorry you're under the weather, Kelly. And it's hard not to catch the spouse's cold, as they are often contagious before they have symptoms!Hope you do feel better before flying - not great for the sinuses.

Yeh, phone with auto correct (rolls eyes). It does sometimes feel ike he’s part Venusian!
Melted snow turned to ice overnight. Everyone needs to take a bit of extra care out there today.Have a lovely day, though.
Up early again, very snotty and coughing, plus a sore tooth - cough irritated Lucy so much she gave up lying on my shoulder!! Got some housework to do this morning, supposed to be going for a walk this afternoon, lovely and sunny out, although not supposed to get above freezing till lunch! Had a nightmare journey after work, got petrol before the retail park, according to google, it is 1.3 miles from work - took 30 mins!! Then couldn't get everything I wanted from any shop I went into on the retail park, had a screaming child in B & M and a yapping dog outside Asda!Sorry that your cold has come back and made you sick Kelly. Do hope that you are better for flying, I thought you didn't have to do that in your new role?

Had to go up to Keswick through the central lakes (Coniston to Ambleside to Keswick,)
The roads were fine, clear and very little ice
Scenery fabulous
Hi Desley, thanks. In the old role I was travelling several times a month. Should now be much less than that. I have moved Monday's meetings to Wednesday so at least I have a few more days to get better. We went to the doctors today. Husband has bronchitis and I have nasty cold going into my chest. So we are both on antibiotics. Your journey home sounds a nightmare.
Fingers crossed the antibiotics worked - am surprised they gave some to hubby, when i had bronchitis twice the other year, they refused both times saying that the majority of cases are viral. Glad you've been able to rearrange your meetings.
Good morning!Dave has gone ou toi get us breakfast noodles.
Meant to go to friend's for dinner and movie this evening.
Other than that, I'm looking forward to a do nothing day.
Stay warm folks!
Morning! Keep dropping in to read but haven't had a chance to post. Keeping busy here, and Jess has settled in lovely :) Hugs to everyone who needs it.
Cold again today, glad I just have a day of housework to look forward to, then a nice soak in the bath. Had a lovely walk yesterday, was very odd, despite being cold, I had to take a layer off and contemplated putting my sunglasses on! The sun wasn't enough to get rid of all the ice unfortunately. Need to start being good again, I've bought two book and cat food this week, just because they were on offer.
Supervising a ten and a fourteen year-old who want to eat different things. Gran says we eat at the same time, at least! What happened to eat it or do without?
Hi folks. Apologies for absent. I have a note.Pretty relaxed weekend here at Chateau Endebto. Bl**dy cold here, but at least most of the snow has now gone.
After the snow, I now have a theory. It's been about seven years since we last had a significant fall of snow. As a result there are drivers on the road who are now in their mid-twenties, who have never driven in snow. Does this explain why, on Wednesday morning, so many people abandoned cars wherever they decided to. Sometimes, not even at the kerb but in the middle of the road!
We're lucky in my part of Kent, not much snow, but it's very cold. Several jumpers on and sheepskin slippers and heating going full pelt.
Good morning! My classroom is hot and smells of mossie poison.
Windows wide open.
We've got a day off for Chinese New Year tomorrow, so I'm not as grumpy as usual for a Monday morning.
Morning, everyone. Most of the snow's melted here, but we've got a lovely layer of ice to make up for it.
Morning. Back in the past remembering the nightmare of nagging two children to get ready for two different schools. I shall enjoy the rest of my day!
Morning all, snow's gone and the little darlings are back in. Nice weekend all in all but a shame it had to come to an end!
Didn’t want to get up this morning, bit sniffly again. Roadworks have gone, but traffic was still backed up. Was raining when I left the house, but now blue skies. Still small patches of ice and snow around, but supposed to get warmer. Decided to give up worrying about my cat food and book buying addictions, I only buy things when they are on offer so it could be worse. The radio station I listen to in the girls room has just changed frequency, and it appears I don’t have a re-tune function, think next time Amazon have a deal on Dot’s that I’m going to buy one for in there, I have thought recently it would be nice to have an alexa to remind me of things. Had my one to one this morning, boss was running late, so I started it with ‘I’m not saying much, as I’m hungry – to be fair he did offer to let me eat first but I said no. Hope it’s a bit warmer for you today Anna. How random to have a day off for Chinese New Year Patti.
I'm emerging now from the shell shock of the tax return season.Too many posts to go through, so I hope everyone is well.
This cold is going on and on and on . . .The worst part is the constant waves of nausea, one after the other.
Any remedies please to get rid of the sick feeling?
Ginger biscuits, ginger ale, ginger tea, I guess fresh ginger in hot water would make a kind of tea. Although, you might need to add something else to make it more palatable, usually it comes with lemon. Or you can have a brandy and ginger, but I don't know what the ginger is that goes with the brandy.I can't think of anything else with ginger in it

I find a single malt whisky helps.
Great, thanks Jud. I think we have ginger ale. Will try that. Will, oh no, not right now (am turning green at the thought). Actually, I am Scottish and love the smell of whisky but not the taste. Go figure.
Gingerlily - Deleter of Worlds wrote: "Jud wrote: "Have you tried ginger?"I'm no good for stopping nausea..."
Thought it said 'Deleter of WORDS.' And I wanted to steal it, because that's the way I edit.
Thanks Alicia, just looked at the ginger ale and think the sugar content will be too high. (I am T1 diabetic, and being ill makes me run higher in any event). I will get some seasickness stuff tomorrow.I thought it said Deleter of Words too at first! Sorry you're no good at treating nausea, GL, but you're obviously ace at smashing worlds.
I would never drink soda with sugar, Kelly. Diet gingerale will not bother your tummy with calories.
That sucks, Kelly.Doubt ginger ale would help much, anyway. In Canada, they're making them change the label cuz Canada Dry doesn't actually have any ginger in it.
Try infusing a slice of fresh ginger and a handful of fresh mint with a tea bag in boiling water. A very kind hotel manager made me many cups of that when I was sick in India. Dunno if if it was the drink or the sympathy, but it really helped.
Good morning, lovely people!I'm enjoying the best part of the day here. The time between first prayer call and dawn is nicely quiet. And it's still cool enough to have the windows open for a couple of hours.
Apparently some people are saying the air quality here is quite bad at the moment. I don't think it is. Not compared to Baku, anyway.
Everything is a matter of perspective, isn't it?
Has been very bad in Bangkok, though. They've even closed schools there.
Let's hope it's vastly improved before we go to Thailand in April.
We've got a couple of friends coming up from Yangon for the weekend, which will be lovely. They're both teachers at our sister school there.
I'm looking forward to showing them around Mandalay.
Hello, Patti, lovely folk. This is the last night we will sleep in this apartment that has been home for five months. Tomorrow at 8 the final move will have the heavy stuff done by movers.
We've been schlepping stuff upstairs since Friday when they gave us the keys, and husband moved a lot of stuff so he wouldn't have to pack it for the movers, so we're half here, half not.
I think my toothbrush is still here, but most of my computer stuff is up in my new office/guest bedroom. I'm having an odd snack because half the food is up there.
I used to change apartments every year in school - and have no memory at all. I was young, healthy, and in reasonable shape - moving my considerably smaller pile of possessions didn't even register.
The excess stuff is going with us one more time because the decisions to discard are inconceivable right now.
So just be happy you're not moving, unless you are, in which case I'm very sympathetic right now - but useless. G'night!
Morning! Hope the final move goes well, Alicia.Last day of grand-daughter wrangling. Just got them off to school. Their mum and dad will be back at teatime when it'll be Chinese takeaway all round!
Morning all. Mild in the valley today and lots of lessons on tectonic shift to look forward to ... so I'd better crack on and learn something about tectonics while the little darlings are at assembly! Time to get the coffee on ...
MorningWill the Chinese take away be open today? I made a lasagna last night to have for tea tonight. YUM! Can't wait.
I've spent all my January pay already but I'm going to go to for coffee anyway.

the power of positive thinking :-)
Both our Chinese restaurants are shut today for their New Year celebrations.Morning all. A mahoosive crane on a lorry disrupted the peace this morning by swinging a digger into a back garden over several cars and garden buildings. (Personally I'd have gone for a smaller digger that would have fitted through the garden gate but what do I know.) Then the transporter had to do a multi-point turn to get out at the end of the road. More excitement than some of the neighbours could cope with :)
Still struggled to get up despite apparently sleeping through. Have had lots of IT nightmares this morning, was feeling stressed! Saw a deer on the hill while I was eating my lunch, one of the things I love about working here. Do hope you are feeling better today Kelly, I’m with Kath, I hate nausea more than pain, although I’d rather feel sick than be sick. Fingers crossed for the final move Alicia, hope you get chance to deal with the excess stuff at some point. Most of our Chinese takeaways normally shut on a Tue.
Good luck with the move Alicia.Hope the tummy improves Kelley. Ginger steeped in hot water is meant to be helpful. I have ginger sweets from the health shop but I'm not sure if they do a no sugar version of those.
Pam wrote: "Good luck with the move Alicia.Hope the tummy improves Kelley. Ginger steeped in hot water is meant to be helpful. I have ginger sweets from the health shop but I'm not sure if they do a no sugar..."
I googled that already Pam, as I was going to suggest them, but couldn't find one.
I hate nausea too, but I'd rather be sick than feel sick. Usually being sick solves the issue (temporarily at least) and there is no more feeling sick.Isotonic drinks can be good for nausea too Kelly, they are easier on your stomach than water if you sip them and help hydrate you without causing your body's salts to leech out, potentially making you feel more ill! Unfortunately, a lot of them only come in fluorescent like colours, Powerade and Lucozade Sport. Gareth and I swear by them for getting you back on your feet.

I have been awol and feeling sorry for myself. Have got the cold again and feeling rubbish. Husband got it first so have been running after him, and also realising all the stuff he does around the house; stuff I've had to do whilst he's been ill. Then he kindly passed his cold to me.
I have even been sick with it. Horrible. Got to fly to London on Monday, and then again on Wednesday. Hope I feel better by then!
