Abu Dhabi airport is rubbish. We're flying back through Doha, thank goodness.I much prefer flying through the Middle East than to many European countries. At least I know the plane won't be full of a bunch of drunken yobs.

well if you do live in darkest Wales ;-)
Welcome back
Hasn't it just? Now I'm here, it's kinda nice to home.
I'm loving the quiet.
Mandalay is an incredibly noisy city. Constant traffic, amplified prayers, construction noise, dogs barking...
Last night was the first time I've slept without ear plugs in almost six months.
Gotta collect the hire car and do some grocery shopping today.
Other than that, I'm gonna just flop.
Morning all. The rain seems to have abated for now. Let's hope it stays that way for a bit to let the place dry off a bit!Three more days of scraping the kids off the ceiling to go. Christmas concert today, so at least my classes might be a little quieter while they get their last minute practice in.
Welcome back Patti! Lovely day here today after not really managing daylight at all yesterday.
I have purchased some camembert which has had to go into solitary confinement in the fridge.
Felt really drained last night and back was painful, so went to bed early, struggled to get to sleep and woke up every hour!! Also woke up with toothache, it seems to have stopped, and eating isn’t painful. Luckily nice easy day at work, it’s really odd, I’m used to being snowed under getting everything sorted our last week, but can take it easy this year, and as I’ve been keeping on top of my desk since moving, not even got a desk to tidy on Fri. We have a raffle this afternoon, some people have generously donated some of the bottles they get from clients/suppliers to be raffled off, and we have been given a raffle ticket. Glad you are enjoying the peace and quiet, if not the weather Patti! I also fear that day Alicia, the actual e-mail looked fairly convincing.
Rather nice day here, actually. It's not raining.
Just back from the supermarket, where I bought a load of stuff we've not had in months.
Proper bread! Salami! Smoked salmon!

Oh my govies, that takes me right back to uni!
Many years ago at a ceilidh in the Caledonian Brewery (yes, a piss up in a brewery - sadly they no longer run them) during a particularly vigorous Strip the Willow I found myself spinning energetically on my arse, breakdance-style, after losing my footing whilst being spun at turbine speed by an overenthusiastic partner. The sign of a good ceilidh is mysterious bruises the next day. Actually on reflection probably not so mysterious. Bloody good exercise though!

If you live a while in a warm climate, your blood thins. To get rid of excess heat more easily. It forgets to reverse when you suddenly pop into cold places.
Morning. Grocery shopping this morning and furious knitting of hats this aft and eve. Have a good one. Nearly weekend.
Morning :o)Only 1 day of work left. I get to leave early today too (for the dentist but still...) And then tomorrow I'm in late because it's Kitty's Christmas show at nursery and then drinks reception from 11:30 with lunch at 1:15 and then home after :o)
Woohoo!!
Think I'm fairly on track for Christmas too
Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "No. That's not how we do things round hereMorning all!"
I zapped that post.
Felt good. :)
Good morning! Sideways rain here. Woohoo!
I've been up since 4am. That's 11am Myanmar time so I guess it counts as a massive lie-in?
Been working on a tescos order and half the stuff I want isn't available. Frustrating.
Yeah, Everytime I go to add something else to my shop about 5 other things are removed because they are no longer available. Annoying
Reminds me, I have to check my order.Checked, and only 1 item not available. Found substitutes that are better :)
Didn’t win anything on the raffle (although my 3 colleagues did!), but it was mainly wine so I wouldn’t have drank it and only given it away. Was very wet and windy on the way to work. Last full day in work, and we had a team meeting this morning, having a review of the year and making some plans for next year, but we only did part of it, having another half an hour this afternoon. We got our ‘bonus’ – a frozen turkey, which I need to drop off at a friends after work. Going to the retail park with a colleague, so getting lunch there, which is rare for me. Another friend has to take her dog to our main vet in Halifax but she got lost on Sat, I’ve offered to take them both tonight, but she doesn’t want to leave the dog there overnight, but would appreciate me taking her over tonight so she can get her bearings for the morning, which I’ve agreed to. She offered to drive so I wasn’t using my petrol, but thought it was easier for me to drive and her to just observe. I’m also going to offer going with her to pick her up and get the results, although am sure she will offer to drive. Also need to tidy ready for the cleaner coming tomorrow. Suspect I’ll only have time to hide things so I will still be doing housework tomorrow/Sat. Glad you are enjoying things that you can’t get over there Patti. That's why I don't like online shopping. Sounds fun R, shame they don’t run them anymore. That’s interesting Alicia.
Morning everyone. It's overcast here in sunny California. Hope we get a bit more precipitation. The single tree we can see against the blank wall we face (another reason to be happy we're moving to the permanent apartment one of these days) has gone first yellow, and now brown, and the leaves are dropping. From what I've seen so far, I wonder how the plants survive - but there's plenty of vegetation, just not anywhere near what New Jersey produces with all that rain.
Many movies and TV shows are filmed in California, so you probably all know what it looks like.
Is it too early to wish everyone Merry Christmas?
This Gatwick drone farce is hilarious.Slightly suss that it started happening a day or so after Patti got here.
Good morning.Happy solstice.
Rather breezy here.
Doing the online order was a waste of time. Can't get a delivery slot before Christmas.
Yeah, what's up with drone thing?
I hope they get it sorted soon. Poor people trying to get to or away from their families for Christmas must be thoroughly fed up.
Michael Cargill wrote: "This Gatwick drone farce is hilarious.Slightly suss that it started happening a day or so after Patti got here."
to be fair it has almost totally driven brexit of the news :-)
So I'm blaming it on Theresa May, Corbyn, or both working in collusion :-)
Or perhaps some saviour of the nation who just couldn't take any more
If they catch whoever's been doing the drone flying, they should be made to pay for every one of those passengers' flights and expenses. That might act as a deterrent.
Morning all. Last day of term for us today. Arses and elbows for the most part as nobody seems to know what's going on. Just ... need... to get ... to 3pm ...In other news, it's windy as all heck here, which is only going to wind the little elves us, especially if it starts raining too and they have to spend break and lunch indoors! Saying that, I've bought a bagful of sugary goodies for my year 10 group, mostly because I don't have to look after them this afternoon. :-D
Yep, sugar 'em up, Gaff!I see they've opened gatwick again.
Dave has gone off to b'wade.
A couple of days of perfect peace. Yay!
Darren wrote: "If they catch whoever's been doing the drone flying, they should be made to pay for every one of those passengers' flights and expenses. That’s me done shopping etc. Not sticking my nose in another shop. I’m not surprised you couldn’t get a delivery as I couldn’t get one after Wednesday this week and I booked it a month ago. At least I frgot the heavy stuff delivered, The wind is getting stronger here as well but it’s dry for the moment. Peace for me as well, OH has taken his car and the dogs. Coffee and quiet time until the little lad comes home from school at midday. Bliss.
Morning all, perfect peace here too or at least it would be if not for the neighbours'
I sent a shopping list off with Dave. Christmas dinner is up to him to supply.
Think I'll have a nap.
Ahhhhh
I put in my order for today at the same time I put in last week's order, that was on last wednesday I think. At that point there were still loads of slots left closer to christmas. I don't think tesco deliveries is very overloaded here... the last two years they sent us emails at the beginning of december telling us to book our christmas delivery. This year they didn't bother.

The scams sometimes fail because they don't look quite real - but I fear the day when the scammers get smarter.
Good for you - checking is the thing many people forget to do.
