Makes you really wonder about energy suppliers, doesn't it?

Getting enough sleep under stress is difficult - hope you can make it up some way.

Would rather hear from you and chuckle at the typos than not hear from you.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Not surprised you’ve lost a roof Will. I’m sitting here looking at the wall lights reflecting on the the window and the wind is making the glass move. I’m excused duties tomorrow as my daughter’s partner is ill so he’s staying home with his son.
If we are being gross about stomach lining, it’s like a jelly skin when it comes out the other end. Dog with giardia taught me a lot.!

He posted on here sometimes and his book was good.

Ah thanks. :)

Last day of assessments, I hope.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Nice to see the conversation thriving this morning. It's grotty in the valley today, too. Bleak and wet and dark. Never mind, it's Thursday!!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning.

Horrid day today.

message 8660: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments yes, dashed wet!
The M6 was pretty unpleasant yesterday and Tuesday!

message 8661: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Nasty here too, but the day will be enlivened by the flower arranging group this afternoon. We always have a laugh. I go as much for the craic as anything floral!

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments With most of the barn roof went some of the barn wall last night. Now we will find out how good the NFU insurance really is. Fist estimate is about £ 7K of damage

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments The sun is shing outside, Amazing!

I am going OUT tonight. Visiting https://dublinzoo.ie/wildlights/.

The excitement may be too much for me!!

they've always been good with us

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Slept slightly better last night, woke up 3 times but don’t feel as drained, although not much energy/inclination. Very wet and windy here, don’t think I’ll be nipping to the local shop for my TV mag tonight, unless this improves.

That's not good Will, hope the insurers pay out! Hope you get your internet sorted Patti! It certainly does Alicia! Glad you don’t have to babysit today Lynne.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Afternoon, everyone. Vile weather today - I've been ducking under shelters all morning.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments As long as you don't try to shelter under ducks!

I had to google this, from Cambridge Dictionary!

Yes this was an expression used in our family when I was growing up.

message 8669: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments I confess I always use pootle as well :-)

move or travel in a leisurely manner.
According to google it is "1970s: blend of the verbs poodle and tootle."
I'm not entirely sure I believe that

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ok, but I got to see the cool stuff at Dublin Zoo. Smug.

Jim | 21812 comments Here it was blowing a hoolie, we had a power cut last night, but it's not actually cold

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. It's actually sunny in the valley for a change, and it's Friday, so doubly blessed. Mixed bag of lessons again today, so roll on the weekend!

message 8675: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. Storm Diana is blowing away in the background, but at least it's stopped raining.

message 8676: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Sunshine. I'd forgotten about that.

message 8677: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

I'm listening to Magic Radio. They've gone all Christmassy and are only playing Christmas music.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS

We're going to see Santa tomorrow on a steam train. kids are going to be so excited!

Weather is lovely today after a horrid week.

Your Dublin Zoo photos look amazing GL, if I had known I would have arranged to go down myself to see it. Still could but we are unlikely to find the time.

Hope everyone is well

message 8678: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Little grandson went to see Santa arriving at Scarborough harbour in a boat. He was far more excited about seeing a bin lorry!

message 8679: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Well, yes. I fully expect Nathan to be more excited about the train than Santa. Kitty is pretty stoked about Christmas this year though, she has been waiting all week to start her advent calendar and got excited this morning because she thought she could start it today.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Another rubbish night sleep, slept through till 4, then woke up every hour after that, so when the alarm went off, I didn’t have the energy to get up, luckily I don’t have to on a Fri, so I set a second alarm! Have got a sore side today. At least it is dry and we did have blue skies for the first time in days. Our weekly meeting has been cancelled, not quite sure what I’m going to do with the extra hour. Need petrol after work, then going to see what the new B & M is like, and get as much from the retail park as possible, as I’m not going again before Christmas. Then Aldi as all the Christmas cheese truckles are being released today. After that, I need to drop the car off at the garage, it’s having it’s MOT tomorrow, but find it easier to drop it the night before than get it there before 9am!

Thanks for the reminder that I can't listen to Magic radio for a while Jud! Bet the kids will enjoy tomorrow - possibly more for the advent calendar!

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I knew there was a reason I don't listen to Magic Radio. This is it.

Bah, Humbug.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I’ve never even heard of Magic Radio :)
We had a wee flurry of snow today, and there was an exceedingly cold wind. In fact, I was told by a Lithuanian weightlifter (he showed me photos of himself in his prime - 220 keelos leeft) who visited our art show, that it was Baltic. And he should know!
Guess which minor celebrity is switching on our Christmas lights tomorrow?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Minor celebrity... hmmm... Warwick Davis? No - he's just a mini celebrity!

message 8684: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Its cool enough to have the windows open and the a/c off this morning.
Stopped for 'a' beer with our mates after work last night. Got home after 9.
I may have a wee headache this morning.

message 8685: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments I suppose it depends on the size of the glass you had a beer in :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well that was an exhausting and expensive shopping trip -did come back with some violet gin though, now need to go and buy the rose lemonade to go with it. Have got lots of (hopefully) lovely cheese, just need some crackers now. Woke up at 7 not feeling great, fed the cats and went back to bed with a cup of tea, but gave up trying to sleep at 9. Think it is currently dry, doing housework while the car is in the garage, then doing a home visit after picking it up, before going to our Light Up event - never see the Christmas tree lights switched on, we always have charity stalls, a bit of a farmers market and some rides for the kids, which is why I go, see my friends from the rescue Lucy is from. Then hopefully a chill on the sofa

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Husband had cataract surgery on second eye yesterday. He walked across the street to the outpatient surgery center at the hospital - and afterward walked home!

I was at the ready to go get him - he said he was fine.

Blows my mind a bit.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments My mum had both eyes done. Made a huge difference.
Cor what a lacklustre day today. Wet, dark, dismal.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I'm not sure you can really call it day. Its more a long twilight...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments So I switched on the town’s Christmas lights this afternoon, just before Santa arrived.
Most of East Lothian has been affected by a huge power cut this evening. I’m sure the two events are entirely unrelated!

yes I've had both eyes done, it does make a huge difference :-)

Jim | 21812 comments I'm obviously going up in the world
Up until now I just got dress adverts on the page, now they're trying to sell me gold jewellry

All this stuff is so easy to ignore.
If they really wanted to suck me in with the power of advertising, then they should have adverts for second hand book shops in the North of England :-)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Well I'm getting ads for a grammar checker, which I find quite insulting actually!

Morning

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I see an ad for a black dress with dancing skeletons round the hem. I quite like the look of it.

message 8695: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments The ad that I see - Ugly jumpers which I wouldn't even buy for someone I disliked.

Another wet morning. Lots to do - I am trying to organise mum to make her Christmas cards, and sort out her packing list. Also finish the cardigan that she is making so it can be given to Eleanora when we meet her in a couple of weeks.

On top of that I have all my own cards and christmas shopping to do.
I'm listening to a lot of books instead of reading at the moment.

message 8696: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments So are the algorithms just rubbish or are we all people who have upped our privacy settings :-)

message 8697: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. I had to look to see what they were advertising to me. It's John Lewis. As our nearest one is many miles away I have no mental image of it.
Off to cut greenery for the village holly wreaths.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments ke up early again feeling drained but unable to get back to sleep. Looking at my sleep app, no wonder, even when I feel like I've not woken up, I'm not getting more than 2 hours deep sleep, and not continuous - in fact what I thought was my best night sleep was only 1.5 hours deep sleep! Home visit went well yesterday, so hopefully they are going this week, weather was shocking for light up, but we went and supported the tombolas, and I also came home with a book! Didn't do much housework yesterday though, so need to do that today, was supposed to go out for lunch but that has been cancelled as the café isn't open! No doubt my neighbour will suggest going out for lunch or tea, but I'm not getting dressed, plan is housework, reading and a bath.

Glad your hubby managed after his cataract surgery Alicia, did you shout at him for coming back alone? Yes, am sure they are unrelated R!!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, dry here for a change. My sister had a cataract op on Friday too. I was stunned to hear she had to take surgical tape and a dry eye make up remover pad not wet ones. . She asked me what i thought that might be. I suggested those discs of cotton rather than those packs of wet wipes sold on the cosmetics counter like baby wipes but half the size and 4 times the price. I was shocked as although clean they aren’t sterile. Take your own dressings? The waiting list wasn’t long but ........
I hope the D&V bug is clear at daughters, I had an urgent all Saturday to do shopping for her, new duvet & pillows !
Who switched the lights on Rosie?

message 8700: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments I thought from something mentioned yesterday or the day before that it was either Rosemary or a lithuanian weight lifter who would be switching on the lights
