Got a meeting at 10, going to try and manage without a coffee and get one after to see me through the rest of the day.
Supposed to be running this afternoon too but it is a bit wet, if it doesn't dry up a little I don't think I'll bother going

They wouldn't get out much if they didn't!

Mind you, I am from Scotland originally, so I do like the change in seasons. Crispy cold, crunchy ground, seeing breath in the air, log fires, a wee toddy and . . . a good book. Bliss.

You just have to love autocorrect.

They got off the plane in the UK and the temperature difference was 20 degrees, so they're feeling the cold at the minute

Writing this morning then flower arranging this aft. All go.

Lovely crisp sunny day here but not freezing just cold.

It was bitterly cold, wet and draining - but a lot of fun watching the seals at Donna Nook (the reason for the visit). 2000 seals on the beach - how do they manage not to pong the place out?
Might manage to post a few photos later.

Festival of lights sounds lovely, did you see much Patti? Oh dear, hope your daughter wasn’t too bothered by her washing getting wetter Lynne! I don't like to complain at rain at this time of year, the alternative is snow! Wow, hope you do get chance to post some pics Will.

Sorry to hear about your foot Desley.
I had yesterday off work, i got a day to myself in my wood shop, i made a snowman and a christmas tree on my lathe and started to wooden rings for colleagues. It was a very productive day.
Got today off to spend with Ally and Dexter.
Have a great Friday everybody.

It’s piddling down here cold too.

Toenails make me feel a bit odd. Even my own

Last night I went to Waterstones in Swansea to hear Ben Aaranovitch talk about his books.
Interesting bloke, seems a nice man as well.

He wrote for Dr Who back in the 80s as well, as I remember.

Nothing wrong with grandson’s feet this morning. His stamping in a paddy would put Michael Flattley to shame. Sheesh he was a little you know what. I’m worn out just watching. I also put the wrong cheese spread on his toast, 🙄🙄TGIF

Have you ever noticed that everyone else's toes are funny - except yours?

Mwahahahaahrgh!
Cheers

Only you MT!! Thanks Lynne - as long as I can drive I'm not bothered by the healing, the only worry is that as I take longer to heal than normal (even small bruises can last weeks!), that might too. I'm not looking forward to it though, my feet are so ticklish that I actually do struggle to cut my own toenails and hate people touching them, even cats.

And more recently for Casualty

MT, eek. Hope the back pad works once it's dried out.
Hope you can get something done to ease the pain, Desley.

Thanks Kelly, this wont help with the damaged toe, but if it helps with the recurrent ingrowing toenail issue its something.

I should live in the Grumpy corner I’d feel at home there at the moment.

Lynne that sounds grim, Kath, I agree, I still feel delighted that I’m not going back to school on Sunday nights, even if McMini is.
Cheers

I do the same thing. It makes me itchy to have something out there under my name that sounds like, well, autocorrect did it.

It happens I may have something useful re ingrown toenails.
My daughter, a dancer, had severe ones as a teen. We saw a surgeon (primary physician recommended him), and got the same story you did: long recovery, big deal. Much pain. Nail might be permanently lost. Etc.
So I said we'd think about it. Then it occurred to me to take her to see and podiatrist with experience with dancers (because they have a lot of foot problems). I found one whose little girls were dancers, and who had actually, as an intern, travelled with a troupe of dancers to help and learn about their problems.
He did an extremely simple chemical, not surgical, procedure where he killed a tiny fraction of the bottom of the nail root (the part that grew up and out into the ingrown part) with a drop of something. The recovery was a day or two of not dancing, no pain beyond a minor amount from the procedure itself, and that edge of the toenail has never grown back. She had the other foot done a week later.
And I went back and had both mine done! Such a relief.
The podiatrist was quite uncomplimentary about surgeons.

That's interesting Alicia - it was a podiatrist who recommended having this done. Might ask if the procedure you mentioned can be done instead, can you remember the name? I am going to have to, it is still sore despite her dealing with it on Wed.

I've lost track of whether you have or not, but if you haven't, insist your doctor puts you through to one
Round here the waiting list is a bit long

It does sound similar, they remove a sliver and put Phenol on to stop it growing back. It would be done by the podiatrist as well. I've been lucky enough to see 3 podiatrists now Jim! The procedure is a farce though, you have to fill in a form, post it to them, then ring 2 weeks later to make an appointment! Think the initial appointment was a month wait

I waited about seven months, forgot about it totally, then got a phone call out of the blue asking if I could use a cancellation :-)
But this was no five minute appointment, I was with her nearly half an hour

Good old appendicitis, sneaks up on us when we're least expecting.
Glad he's OK,
My appendix had burst by the time they opened me up so when the nurse came to take the stitches out she asked whether I'd had an operation or had been in a knife fight :-)
Key hole! Ha :-)

I've been impressed with all the podiatrists, they have all explained and offered things, never felt rushed. The appointment for my orthotics was classed as 30-45 mins. Only advantage to damaging my foot!

Apparently, it's to do with the full moon of Tauzaungmone. 2 day public holiday in Myanmar. I have no idea what it's about, but I'm going to look it up. It sounds interesting!
Bitterly cold day in the valley today, but just been informed that we have INSET on Friday, so at least it'll be child free, even if I do have to come into work.
Edit: Ooh, it's a festival of lights marking the end of the rainy season from what I can find, and looks like it could be really pretty tonight for you, with candle balloons and stuff.
