I'm a little sad she's not as young as I thought but she's mine and she's firmly planted her pawprints on me. And at 10 I think she's well overdue for her forever home, which is what she's got now :)

Understandable to be sad, but she is a lucky girl, she certainly does deserve her forever home

Which part of the Pennines Jim?

Dexter and daddy morning while my wife goes running and then to the hair salon.
Hope you all have a good day

according to the radar predictions, from south of Hawes up to about Hexham

Going to get on with a bit of writing now. If I don't come back, send out the tracker dogs!

Nice day here again, I've been out to nearby East Linton which is a very pretty little village. Main east coast railway line goes past it - I was heading back to my parked car under the railway bridge when a train went over right above my head - what a fright! Had forgotten that was likely to happen :)
Definitely cooler than the past couple of days though - there's been people out on the beaches eating ice cream this week

Douglas Adams came first, followed by Roger’s Profanasaurus, followed by the internet and the Urban Dictionary. I suspect it borrows heavily from both but it definitely has it’s own canon of vocab!

Excellent work! ;-)

Oh, and an Irish one. A Kerry. The little knot between two sausages."
We use the word Kettering all the time!

That made me laugh R!

Lovely morning in West Wales, Christmas cake is baking in the oven.
Not lookIng forward to next week at all, both daughter and OH have two medical appointments each.

Been baking bread and writing long emails (still got one to do) and even wrote some of my own book.
Need a lie down!

Claire, Jess is a minx. Imagine her fibbing about her age. Our first cat was about 10 when she decided to move in with us. She changed our lives and we had her for many, many years.
Will, I agree. We don't have a John Lewis in Jersey, but I think they have online stores.
Right, I've been at the laptop all day. Am off for a walk to M&S to buy food. Imagine it's be a bit blustery as it's along the coast. Winds getting up - meant to be Force 8 later on.

Good thoughts for the thousands of people affected by the fires in California - we're inside, but so many have lost everything. Send us your excess rain.

Was lovely here but it’s clouding up. Nothing much happening here. I’m glad I’m not in France this week with all the demonstrations. It was very impressive but as usual the government played it down, the numbers must have been at least double the official figures from what little I saw of it. There will be more trouble soon as the farmers have asked for special consideration and declared a catastrophic situation due to the drought over summer. We did notice that winter wheat wasn’t even planted in many fields. They were just dust. They are importing straw, hay and animaL foodstuffs from other European countries already. With fuel oil prices, taxes and a bread price rise they are going to be sharpening their pitchforks.

Kids slept in this morning despite being in bed pretty early last night. 7.30 before I could get them awake. We were running late, as you can imagine.
I saw Dippy the Diplodocus from the London Natural History Museum over the weekend and I got 10 hours sleep on Saturday. I'm winning at life right now.

Yep. My mum bought some wrapping paper at John Lewis in the 1960s and then discovered it for less at Dickens & Jones. She went back to John Lewis and told them. They refunded the difference!

Now that the insects are dead or hibernating and most of the leaves are down McCat is bored and has reverted to concentrating his 'hunting' activities in the kitchen. Yesterday McOther bought a bag of cake mix (you know a paper flour bag with the flour, sugar and powdered egg and you just add cooking oil). McCat climbed onto the counter and tore a neat triangle out of the top corner of the bag to give it a try.
Luckily he didn't like it.
Later, McMini found him on the kitchen counter, drinking McOther's tea.

I'm stuck at 8"
I like those! I'm at 11 so far. Still haven't finished some of the previous ones :)

Going to sit and stuff teddies this aft.

Kind of first full week (I’m off Wed pm) in our new location, I feel as though I can start catching up now, so quite a busy week
It certainly is the middle of November Kelly, it does baffle me when we complain about the temperature dropping in winter! 10 isn’t that old for cats these days, I would be tempted to get the dental done sooner rather than later now and get full bloods done to make sure all her organs are working correctly. I did wonder if you would be affected Alicia, glad you are no longer in the hazardous category, and hope that they die down soon. Wow Kath! Lucy does things like that too MT, I have to watch what I leave on the worktop, just because it isn't cat food doesn't mean she won't have a go, especially if it has any kind of dried fruit in (yes, I know they are toxic to cats, unfortunately the cat doesn't!). Glad you are feeling better Benjamin. What a shame the kids didn't have a lie in on a weekend Jud!

It usually is! I'm sure a time will come when all I'm fit for is vegging in front of daytime telly but till then, I'll keep busy.

Cheers
MTM

too right, those who go vegging in front of daytime telly can end up fit for nothing but vegging in front of daytime telly!

We're in Davis, a bit SW of Sacramento. The smoke is hitting San Francisco as well, where our daughter lives; she says it's pretty bad there - and I hope she's okay when she drives out Thursday for our Thanksgiving.
There's chance of rain on Wednesday; we've been here since the end of August, and have never seen rain. We were told there is usually rain in October, but there wasn't this year.
I fear for our kids - the world we are living our descendants is not in good shape.

What a busy life you lead, Desley!
Glad the lady is adopting another cat - she must have loved the black one. It is good work you do.

Might all be changing! But Jims post has worried me! I'm glad she is adopting another cat too
Yes, I do feel for future generations

Having a chaotic day so far. Nathan was really upset and cried nearly all morning, he broke his heart when I left but I did sit an cuddle him for a wee while before I went even though it made me miss my train, work can wait!
Got in to work and have swapped desks with a colleague so it has been a productive morning. Just sitting down to a pot of porridge, I skipped breakfast in the madness of getting ready at home.

I'll get Jess' teeth done asap in the new year, fitting it in before Christmas isn't likely as I've not got all my shifts yet. The vet wasn't overly concerned about it but said it will need doing in the relatively near future.
I think it's the sudden drop in temperature that catches people, was stood outside in shirt sleeves last week, this week I'm freezing in my fleece!

Assessments, exams, then reports. Oh and some sort of 'christmas' do. Makes sense in a country thats 99% Buddhist.
I really should be taking notes. I think there may be a novel in this.

Bless him Lynne! Still sounds chaotic there Patti. Hope you have a better day tomorrow Jud

seriously I think you're right, especially given that you have experience in other settings to judge it against

I'd rather they put up a placard saying: "Buy from John Lewis. We've given £ 8million to Children in Need.
That might encourage me to shop there."
Yes, that may encourage me, although I don't know where one is!
