I always call the bits in my hole punch 'didcots' Love when the little ones ask if they can empty the punch so they can use the the didcots for a craft.
Morning all. Sunny and bright in the valley, but it's Wednesday, which kinda negates the good feelings I had about the weather. Mixed bag of lessons, so I doubt I'll even remember my name by the end of the day. Never mind, it's coffee time!
MorningWere the little holepunch bits named didcots after the village Didcot?
Same for Kerry, was the knot between sausages named after the town or vice versa?
Morning, everyone, Been away for a few days so I'm just starting to catch up.Sorry to ehar about your friend's sister, Jud.
Morning everyone. Belated thank you for the birthday wishes, had a great day but a very busy week! Two weeks til my exam!!
Jess is settling in well, she's a lovely cat. Was a little worried she had fleas as she's been scratching a bit and overgrooming a patch but we've been to the vets this morning who says she's lovely and healthy but just a stresshead so Feliway diffuser in the post to arrive tomorrow! I'm a neurotic cat mum after what Narla went through so it's good to hear she looks fine. Will need a dental sometime next year probably but nothing too major for the moment :)
Hugs all round for everyone who needs them. Or just wants one :)

They're not genuine names, Jud. They were in a book by Douglas Adams, entitle The Meaning of Liff, and he gave inaginary meanings to well-known geographical areas.
But given that Patti is now teaching children that they are called Didcots, and people are referring to them on social media, they may have become real words :-)
Seem to be pretty much over what I had, apart from I just feel a bit ropey about 8.30 and just need to lie down. Bit headachy today, but probably the fact I missed a drink or two yesterday. Feeling quite happy with my new workspace, although a colleague has said she thinks it’ll only take me a week to get back to messy! I’ve organised things on my desk better this time, so am confident I can manage till the end of the year. There are more people up here, so there is more atmosphere, I could often be sat by myself downstairs. The only downside is it’s very noisy as the supposed soundproof partitions don’t work, but I have headphones. That is a very good point Lindsay, we are a good bunch. Glad the vet is happy with Jess Claire, it must be a big relief. Glad you are sounding better today Jud.
I've just put my foot in it. I unknowingly told the old manager of a department that I was hearing stories about the old manager from that department on Friday night at the pub. Oops. I wondered why the atmosphere got a bit frosty quickly. I didn't know she was the old manager when I said it.
I don't know whether to leave it or email the other girl who was there and works with her to try and smooth it out.
This article raises some very serious issues with children's television...https://www.thepoke.co.uk/2018/11/12/...

I'd be tempted to leave it and see if she gets over it first
Oh dear Jud! "Not you - of course I meant the manager BEFORE you". (That won't work if she'd been there for ever of course) Probably best just never to speak of it again. And avoid her at all times

After all if she stops to think about it, it's everybody else who's been talking about her, not you
Just saw a book bub flip book (OK I'm a cheapskate, I didn't even download the freebie, I just read the pages on line) about how to promote a bookLooks like an expensive hobby what with freebies, giveaways and paid promotions. I'm afraid I rather quailed when it said you had to plan your budget!
Morning all. Odd morning weather wise in the valley and mixed bag of classes today. Finally finished editing The Cull, so I'm feeling quite proud of myself, but really nervous to see how it goes down now!
Morning.Meant to get an early night last night but I was still sat at my sewing machine at 11:45pm. Oops. I'm meeting pals tonight so hopefully we won't be too late and I can get to bed at a decent time.
Can I talk Brexit in here or should I go elsewhere for that? I think that is a huge part of why I'm feeling so rubbish about life at the moment. Northern Ireland was completely forgotten about during the referendum and now it is the sticking point in the deal and neither options available are ideal.
It's so depressing.
Bleugh.
Rainbows, unicorns, glitter and chocolate. Thought I'd finish on a lighter, more happy note there.
Seemed lovely and bright this morning, so had a bit of a shock to find out the car had a warning light as it was only 2 outside! Blue skies now and double figures. Was supposed to be going out for tea with a friend and one of her uni friends who I got on so well with that we went on holiday together, but unfortunately my friend hasn’t stopped being sick this morning, so we are going on Sunday instead. Got a phone call before asking for some first aid assistance, for some reason I went down without my first aid box, which turned out to be a good idea, as I didn’t need to administer anything, one of the new girls has either had a reaction to her flu jab or her new inhaler, so my only requirement was to drive her home! I suspect the flu jab, as she has similar symptoms that I had last week, I had the jab Mon and started reacting Thu morning, her timing is identical! But she was also given a stronger inhaler on the same day too! Wow, that looks amazing GL! I'd rather Bailey's or Amaretto in mine though. Sorry that Brexit is having such an effect on you Jud.

Just saw this tweet "I'm really enjoying the series finale of The UK". Kind of sums it up.Lovely day here today - beautiful sun and up to 14 degrees. Nice contrast to the fermenting hell down in Westminster.
So apparently Jess is a little con artist. She's fooled everyone into believing she's 3, the person who rescued her, the people at the shelter, us, the vets..... her microchip was registered 10 years ago!!!! Little minx looks rather good for her age!

Good on Jess

Good morning! I've just had a rather nice young man from the Fire Brigade stores here to collect the next 58 trauma bears. That's a total of 130 our group has produced so far. At teatime we're off to our local little market town, Beverley, to meet a fellow author for tea. She works at a museum up in Edinburgh and is here for a conference. Seemed a shame not to grab an hour or two.
Then back to knit bears!
Got home and my neighbour suggested going for a carvery as I had been let down for going out for tea, so I said yes, haven’t been to that carvery for about 6 years and I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back, although my virgin strawberry daiquiri was nice. Bit sinusy and headachy today. Got to get my neighbour a couple of bits from the retail park after work, then do the food shopping. Sounds bad, but I’m trying to stock up on certain things now so I don’t need to go near certain shops till after Christmas, so far I am good for cat food and coffee, but don’t have enough cat litter to last, so contemplating getting some when I go to the retail park tonight. Think it’s late enough in November now to have my first mince pie of the year, Aldi are doing loads I want to try, so probably should start now to get through them all. Wow, she doesn’t look her age Claire! How do you feel about it? I had that once, with a pair of black cats, didn’t question the age I was given, neither vet who vaccinated them questioned it, but when one became ill a month or so later, that vet did, so we checked their chip records to find out they were 11 rather than 5 as we had been told! How amazing Kath, well done on your group. I don't blame you for meeting up with fellow author.
We finally got round to seeing Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday, as K is a big Queen fan. Just in time I suspect before it gets replaced as there were only a few people in the cinema
Good AfternoonI've been hearing about nothing but the John Lewis ad. Haven't seen it - and am not going out of my way to see it. We discussed it this morning during a break and said that despite several radio presenters gushing over it and saying that now we know Christmas is coming, the point of adverts is to persuade people to buy - and none of us knew where there was a JL store. I suppose we could shop online. If we felt the need. I don't.
I had another crafty weekend - so will put some more photos on later. It seems to have upset Mum's routine though - I've really struggled to get her to go to daycare yesterday and today.
I love the John Lewis Christmas adverts (I've seen this years!) but I avoid shopping at John Lewis, I always imagine it to be more expensive.
I'm told the advert cost £ 8 million quid.I'd rather they put up a placard saying: "Buy from John Lewis. We've given £ 8million to Children in Need.
That might encourage me to shop there.

Sorry to hear your news Jud. People can be crappy but then I come in here and remember that people can be extremely nice and supportive as well.
