Well, despite only having 3 of us at the meeting, one of our volunteers talked about lots of random stuff at the fundraising meeting, so it still dragged on and made the trustee forget we needed to have a conversation after. Luckily we decided to skip a meeting in December, so no more meetings this year. Wasn’t a pleasant drive, my sciatica made sitting uncomfortable, then my arm was painful where I’d had my flu jab, then my knee started throbbing! Arm is red and hard today, need to keep an eye on that, it’s mainly driving it is affecting though. Need to ring someone about a home visit tonight. Was very windy when I opened the window for the girls, then when I opened the door for Lucy, discovered it was raining, luckily that stopped before I left.Happy belated birthday Claire. Can't wait to see pics Kath
Jeepers we had some rain here overnight and this morning. There were floods all over and accidents. A lorry got stuck under a bridge and a car was floating under another, must have been chaos in parts.
Morning all. Dark and damp in the valley, and that's just the mood and state of the kids!! I am sciencing all day, so we'll see how that goes!
I’ve had a hard day already. I woke at 5.20 but dropped off to sleep. Had to run like a beetle to get to daughter’s in time. I did it though and got the little lad off to school. I’m home now and just sat down with my first coffee of the day, cold hands clutched round coffee cup, head back on armchair, bliss moment. Then the bloody Dobe shoves his nose in the mug. Comes up lapping froth and thinks he’s the dog’s doodahs.
MorningIt's a lovely day today, I kind of wish I had brought my running gear to work. I'm sure I'll get over it though.
Morning. Sunny now, but was tipping down earlier on. Off for my walk now, but lots of work to get finished later on.

Ha, Lynne, I missed that post about your dog. Oscar used to do that with tea or a glass of baileys. Didn't take us long to learn not to leave milky drinks on the floor! Wee scamp.I hope you have managed to have an undefiled cup of coffee by now!
It's cold, dark, and wet. So I have a perfect excuse not to be messing about with the electrics in an outbuilding, but to stay warm and dry instead. Excellent.
Eh up! Dogs. Hmm. Got two large branches from a conifer that self-seeded into the front garden very close to the drive, and the drains! It's going in my wheelbarrow this aft to start the archway for Sunday. Meanwhile, I've been writing a short Christmas story for the crime book club I belong to on Facebook. We're putting a story on every day from Dec 8th to Christmas Eve. I've been allocated 17th.
Wind and rain have died down, didn’t manage to have a lie in today, feel quite drained, so glad it is nearly weekend. Started feeling sick on the way to work this morning, and got a bit of a tummy ache, hope that settles. Between being asked to decide about the girls, and the thought that the boys might be allowed to go to the previous fosterer, I have been debating whether to quit volunteering for the charity, but I couldn’t foster for another charity because of the girls, and I really could do with doing less fundraising with my joints but not sure I’m ready to give up voluntary work completely, not sure what I would do with myself after 14 years! At the moment there are lots of things on, but that might not last and I can’t do that many weekends of nothing. Wow, you’ve really had it bad Lynne, and apparently there is more forecast for this weekend. Glad you made it on time, sorry you lost your cup of coffee! Glad you had a nice chilled day Patti. Sounds a fun thing to do Kath.

Glad things are going well :-)
Morning. The arch was finished yesterday. I usually do it all but I did the top curve of the arch and two groups of two people did the uprights. We're not putting it out till Sunday morning as there are high winds forecast in the next couple of days.
Morning all. Dark morning in the valley again, but at least it's Friday. Bit of geography on the agenda for the today, which will probably be hilarious because I'm useless at it!! :-D
MorningIt's Friday! YAY!
Patti, I'm reading (well, listening to it) Half of a Yellow Sun have you read it? It's set in Nigeria in the 60s and 70s and covers the Igbo massacre which I'm finding a bit upsetting (it makes me want to weep for humanity!) but I'm enjoying the book.
Cant' wait to see photos of the arch Kath :o)
How are you feeling today Desley?
Good luck with the geography Gaff. Here's a tip, blue is water, green is land. Job done
A weekend I'm not really looking forward to: the weather is going to be horrid. Still, there's the rugby to enjoy. Better get some drinks in for that!
I loved Half of a Yellow Sun, Jud. Our daughter Jen lent it to us one year on holiday and we both read it. She's such a good writer. I've read a couple more of her books since.
I got it on audible but I would definitely look up some of the authors others books. When I think about it I probably read a shamefully non diverse range of books so I might challenge myself to branch out to foreign authors next year. No, no might. I will.
Recommendations welcome :o)
Well, tummy didn’t get any better, than after going to the Co-op I started feeling like I had a temperature and really achy, Lucy must have picked up on it as she was desperate to sit on my knee, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience, so we went to bed early so I could lie down, then couldn’t get warm. Felt slightly better when I got up, until I had to start getting ready, I didn’t think my legs were going to get me to work! Just tried having some soup and couldn't finish it. Supposed to be popping to the retail park after work to return the jacket that doesn’t fit, will see if I am up to it, sure there is a 100 day guarantee. Nice and sunny, but very grey sky. Got one of my new fitness tracker bands and cardigan that I’d got with my amazon voucher yesterday, like both of them, just waiting for my 3rd package now, the other fitness band. The one that arrived this week was supposed to be just for going out, but I really like it so might wear it all the time, it makes it look like I’m wearing a watch rather than a fitness tracker. Our Co-op still had a book sale, so came back with another book yesterday! Enjoy your extra long weekend Benjamin! Glad you have something to make the most of the bad weather Will.
Very windy here already and the high winds aren't due until tonight.Feeling rather pleased with myself having replaced the GPU card in the now somewhat elderly mac desktop and even more pleased that it is now working again.
I have also carried out an effective repair (with black electrical tape to the horror of any automotive purists out there!) on my annoying car aerial which used to hit its resonant frequency and vibrate horribly and loudly at speeds over about 45mph. Both jobs have saved me a small fortune no doubt :)

Some things are repaired with chocolates. Others with flowers. And for everything else, there's duct tape.

Have you had your vaccinations for this year? At least two weeks ago? At least call your doctor's office.
Rather chuffed as I've just learned that my youngest (she-who-was-once-the-teenager) has passed her interview in the application process to do a PHD at Cambridge and is now on the very short list, having had her application described as 'very competitive'.

Wonderful! How did you diagnose that you needed a new GPU card?
Indeed Will. Although there is also a special place in my heart for my hot glue gun.(and some things merit an eight pound sledge hammer!)

That's the graphics card Alicia - and fingers were crossed it was only a graphics problem! An interesting tessellation of bar-code like patterns across the whole screen...PhD at Cambridge is impressive Will

So glad you could diagnose and fix the problem - changing computers is always a pain.Interesting symptom - pretty dramatic!

'Well' might be a bit of an exaggeration. Not regarding the kids and the teaching. Theyre both great. All the other shit...not so much.
Management is a dog's breakfast.
Things in that area will either improve or not. We wont be extending our contract if they dont.
I can think of a number of authors for you Jud. Hopefully ill remember to give you some links next week when im not on my phone.Hanging round the flat this morning waiting for a guy to come and fix some lights.
Gorgeous day out there as usual.
Hot. Itll be in the 30s again im sure.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant for bad management, a nice open transparent system that lets the light in :-)
Well, ended up going to bed really early because I was so tired, but then couldn't sleep. Still feel quite drained and got a cough, just tried eating, will see how that goes. Plan for today was to do a home visit, then go and get some presents and a bit of lunch but might have to just do the home visit. At least the wind and the rain have died down and we have sun. Sorry that things aren't great Patti do hope the management issues resolve.
Hope you’re ok after that flu jab Desley, husband wanted an appointment for his nut there’s no vaccine available here for the oldies. I can’t really see why an older persons vaccine is any different but there we are. I’m not having one anyway. My brother in law had the pneumonia one as well and it floored him. Weather here is foul, there are flooded roads and homes nearby and its not easing up on rain or wind,
That portaloo in the garden down the road rocks in the wind. We are waitng for the khasi to cartwheel, My grandson asked what it was and i told him it was Dr. Who ‘s tardis. He was happy with that, It’s not for the workmen Mary.😀😀
Yes, I don't know why they have done a different one for over 65's, but the neighbour who shares a birthday with me was really ill after hers. I had a pneumonia one years ago, had two sore arms that made brushing my hair interesting. Glad you haven't been flooded
Morning, each. Sunny here and not too cold. Last night was very different. Driving rain and high winds. Hope it's fine in the morning for the raising of the poppy arch!
Hello! Apologies for radio silence, caused by being absolutely run-ragged in the new role! I'm trying to start at 8am and finish by 6pm. That worked the first week, but now I'm leaving around 7.30pm. This means I am up around 5.30 am to write/edit and then I only have a couple of hours at night to focus on it, as I'm shattered! I realise it will take a few months to settle down in this role but I need to stop getting involved in so many issues. Delegate, walk away, say NO - rant over. xOh Claire, how lovely that Jess is in your life and you in hers. How is she settling in?
Jim, well, that's impressive. Many congratulations to that girl of yours.
Raining in Jersey. Been really stormy and I couldn't drive home my usual way as part of the Coast Road was blocked due to massive tides. The boats aren't running, which means that when I went into Waitrose at 2pm there was virtually nothing on the shelves. Perils of island life.

Got a 'pulling myself together' day today. Tomorrow - and as much of Friday as needed - is the big archway for the Armistice Centenary.
