A couple of days travelling ahead

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments We often have a couple of frosty days here in Pembrokeshire then no more all winter. It killed my palm trees off last year with ice in the crowns. They look bad now so they’ll have to be cut down again.
Im so glad we aren’t travelling this week. The weather in France on our route has everything, floods, ice, snow and gale force winds. It’s a bit of a thermic shock too as we had 20° last week for a lot of the journey.
Is Gaff on commission, he sold me a book yesterday😀

I'm making Dave take me out to dinner tonight.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well done Gaff! Off to do the tedious shopping this morning, then I've got more teddy bears ready to stuff!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Was woken up at 5.30 this morning by someone’s alarm going off, wasn’t impressed. Did wake up again at 6.30 but didn’t feel awake enough to get up. We’ve had rain overnight, and the car was saying 5, when I got home last night it was 2! Blue skies now. Need petrol on the way home, and Lucy has her regular visit for acupuncture. It’s been an odd year for weather

message 8256: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh dear. Our early wake-up call was via one of those really annoying 'Technical Services at Microsoft' chaps. He got a flee in his ear - 7.20 in the morning! Musband told him to get a life! He probably didn't know what that meant. English a second language.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all,

Rainy and miserable here. The Donald Trumpkin is not looking good. I'll try and post a picture when its done. ;-)

Cheers

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I set our burglar alarm off this morning, was a very rude awakening as I blundered downstairs. I couldn’t find my clicker either to to turn it off. I think he’s forgotten as I haven’t had any sarky comments yet but there’s is a chance he slept through it.
Those little meerkats saved me £120 on my car insurance. Whoop whoop.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’ve just seen an article (true) about a Russian scientist in Antarctica who stabbed his fellow worker because he kept telling him the endings of the books he was reading. Theyd been there four years, the man who was stabbed in the heart with a kitchen knife is in a bad way.
Beware spoilers!

It was chilly in the morning, but nice and warm when I swam in the outdoor pool in the late afternoon. Come visit.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all. Quiet and still out there. I like the Trumpkin Mary.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Morning all.

And in the Channel Islands it is dry and chilly, with the prospect of rain.

Leaving a bit later to get to work as this is half-term week, meaning the roads are virtually empty!

Happy hump day, and spooky goings on.

message 8268: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Had a weekend away in Welshpool, walked miles along the canal bank. Mum and the others were sat in the lodge whilst I had my walk.

Colder inside work than outside yesterday.
Today is not as cold, blue sky and sun so hopefully if will be warmer at work. Got a stupid survey to fill in today at least half of the questions are not relevant or too small as numbers have to be rounded to the nearest thousand.

They can't decide about holidays here. Some were on half term last week and some this week.

message 8269: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Half terms - a friend just moved house and his ten year-old son got two!
Village hall fish and chip lunch today, then I have to come home (full!) and bake for tomorrow's cake club.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments What a day, was up most of the night, Lucy was poorly, so had to come home at lunch. Seems fine now so don't need another vet visit. Will post more tomorrow but loving the pumpkin MT

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Gorgeous blue sky day here. I should be next to a pool with my kindle, not at my desk.

I'm on duty in a bit so at least I'll have a bit of time outside.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Cold day here but the rain seems to be leaving us alone.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I taught my iPad to swim this morning. Put my travel mug in my bag without putting the bung thingy in the top. Not a good idea, still look on the bright side, as I don’t take sugar it wasn’t sticky.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Was drizzly this morning but now blue skies, at least I slept last night. Had another random delivery thing yesterday too, we had ordered the animals Christmas presents on Sun (my neighbour is obsessed with buying early), delivery date was yesterday, so I had it diverted to work as she wasn’t going to be in, but it didn’t arrive in my hour slot, went on the website to find it just said between 6am and 10pm, which wasn’t helpful as reception shuts at 5. At 6.30 had a knock on the door with the delivery! The delivery guy had tried to get to work, found it shut, but noticed he had 2 addresses, so decided to come to the other one, I did thank him and must put a review on – admittedly it was hours after the time slot, but he still went the extra mile. Cat sitting tonight

Glad iPad is OK Lynne. Thanks Alicia – it was hard having to come to work and leave her!

message 8282: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Hello!

Not many delivery drivers would bother, Desley! I'd say that was lucky.

I bought so much fabric last night, I really need to start using up what I have before buying more. I'm not sure Gareth realises just how much I have but it definitely comes in more than it goes out.

Had a talk in work today about Brexit, it was really depressing. It focused on Northern Ireland and what it means for us. We may end up with a better deal than the rest of you though so, ner ner ner ner ner. The guy giving the talk said it was embarrassing how little London MPs knew about Northern Ireland and the related policies and trading etc. Fills me with confidence... Anyway, enough about politics.

Hope your iPad is okay Lynne. Got a meeting now, better run.

Yes, very lucky!

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments What a great delivery guy, Desley.

You probably have it in the UK as well, but Jersey Post get you to nominate a safe place to leave your stuff (a shed etc) and you have a barcode sticker they can "zap" to say they've delivered it. The best is the UPS driver who knows my husband works at a nearby tennis court and just goes there to deliver stuff if we're not at home.

Cold day but, may I say, I am glad! I love the changing seasons; although we seem to have hopped from summer straight into winter.

Friday tomorrow - yay!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments No, Royal Mail doesn't do that. Forgot to say, he even offered to put it in the house

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning, got my annual bloods at 9.20, then we are going for a spa day for our combined birthdays, its the other neighbours (not the one who feeds me!) 70th birthday today and she's never been to a spa, so we are treating her - also got her a card with a badge and making her wear it! Then cat sitting after that. Cold but dry today.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Have a lovely day Desley!

I have a quiet day in work today, got some meeting minutes to type up from Tuesday so hopefully get those done. I was never at my desk long enough yesterday to do it

message 8290: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments OMG Friday! Woot. OK so I will have to carry a bass drum up a hill but it’s Friday so I couldn’t give a toss! Thanks for the kind words re trumpkin and hope everyone is winding happily down for a weekend relaxing. Top delivery driver Desley, there are a couple round here who are great like that, too.

Cheers

MTM

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Evening all. Strange day. My last surviving aunty's funeral this morning, reconnecting with the cousins, then down to daughter and family for the weekend. In bed now, wiped out.

message 8292: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Hope your party was successful and the spa enjoyed. I've never been to one, either.

Today is my husband's birthday - got him the one thing he can't bring back on the bicycle, ice cream treats from the store downstairs he didn't even know they had. I'll try to be organized enough in a year to attempt a cake, but we're not unpacked enough for that.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments The birthday cake for your husband is under construction Alicia!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Well, woke up at 6.30, bit stiff after the spa day yesterday! Thumb is really sore too. Probably a good thing, house looks like a bomb site. Hairdresser at 11.30, then got to go to Costco, Aldi and Asda after that, going to have some food at Costco so we don't need to cook tea. Had a lovely day at the spa though, and we even got a birthday present, which was a lovely surprise. There is a Starbucks on site, so we had one of those after, I had a salted caramel brownie hot chocolate, which came with chocolate cream.

Glad your husband enjoyed his birthday treat Alicia.

message 8295: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Off to Gloucester for the day with the family. Catch you later.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments That’s a great cake for a small boy or even a big boy. I’ve got to make one for next weekend, grandson will be 4. I’ve got the bits for this time (dinosaurs) and a preprinted edible topper so it’s not going to take long.
It’s really wild and windy outside.OH has gone to buy a cow at the farmers market.

message 8297: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Love that cake. If only I’d known about that the year Harrison took a massive bite out of McMini’s. It was some kind of weird gaming character and I had to remodel its head. Harrison is actually a cat and not a Labrador but seriously, you’d never know!

Hope the husband liked the ice cream Alicia and Kath, hope you are relaxing after funeral duties for your aunt.

If anyone is bored, I did a blog.
