Well, the electrician turned up at the same time as I got home last night, he checked my controller before doing anything, to discover it had been changed from manual to auto – no idea how, as that is covered by hard plastic, I only ever touch 3 buttons, and can’t even have caught it changing the batteries, as they were changed after it started acting up. He also managed to get my old lightbulb out, but I’d bought bayonet rather than screw, so couldn’t put a new one in for me. He only charged me £20 to cover his time, so told him I’d use him again, and apologised for wasting his time (luckily he lives locally and had another job to do near me). Cold and windy here, although car said it was 10. Now a bit of blue sky. Got a sore shoulderblade, sore side and sore feet, struggled to get comfy in bed last night and everytime I woke up I struggled to get comfy again – didn’t encourage me to get up when I woke up early though.
Morning all. Another day, another dollar. One day it'd be nice to earn two.Bright and chilly in the valley this morning and lots to do. Macmillan coffee morning in the staffroom, so I'm going to have to watch those extra pounds today, o'r I won't fit into my fencing jacket tomorrow! Almost half term ... just need to hang on a few more days. Oh, and Mrs Gaff's film project turned out fine, nothing worse than we suspected initially. Relief all round!
Morning! Good news about Mrs Gaff.Got a trug of bruised windfall apples from next doors tree so I'm taking them (in my wheelbarrow) round the corner to the farm for the pigs.

you're all heart, do you feed mint to the lambs as well :-)
But yes, good news about Mrs Gaff
Haha! No, because I don't like mint. I don't like apple sauce with pork, either. Rather have an apple pie or crumble afterwards. Just bought two joints of the first beef reared on the farm. A highland steer.
Morning alls. Great weather here today - even warm! Making Chili jam using the loads of spares from the home grown chilis this year!
Got caught out by my neighbour last night, she’d made some kind of sausage stew that I Didn’t like, and she brought me leftovers for my lunch and noticed I hadn’t eaten it all! Managed to get up early today, was the first time I had to drive with lights on, although it wasn’t much lighter at the time I normally get here. Nearly forgot to feed Lucy this morning, I was doing a treat ball when I realised I hadn’t fed her, she probably wasn’t hungry as I’d had to get her out of bed this morning! She is very well behaved when food is late, she doesn’t fuss for it, which is odd. Her scavenging is helping get her Seraquin in her, I’m going to order her some new ones that are tuna flavoured, obviously more expensive, but worth it if she will take them. Covering our switch today so they can go out for lunch. Shoulder and side aren’t too bad, but sciatica isn’t good today, unfortunately it’s on the other side! Yes, he was a nice electrician Kath. Sure the pigs will be glad you are going round. Glad Mrs Gaff is OK.

Slow growing is best

Kath wrote: "Oh, I love chili jam. Lots of home grown toms in it too. It makes a cream cheese sandwich sparkle!"Not tried it with toms in but you're not wrong about the cheese sandwich sparkling! I do put shredded shredded lemon and orange zest and a few whole chilis in too though.
Definitely a cheese sandwich, with chili jam. Depends on the cheese I suppose and how much flavour it has. Tonight mine is Crofters sheeps cheese so just a smidge of jam required for the delicate creaminess of the ......... blah! It's great whatever it's called!!
SO glad to hear about Mrs. Gaff.Managed my first blog post in a while. Or so I thought. Then I figured out late last night that I had accidentally created a page instead of a post.
It used to be easy to switch.
But this morning I found out that to do so, I now have to install a plugin. And using plugins requires a paid upgrade to a business plan.
Said the heck with it, did a copy/paste. All fixed. Duh.
Life is settling down here - and I've gone right back to work after a couple of attempts. Feels good to know I'm still a writer.
Glad all good with Mrs Gaff. Hope Kitty's feeling better now. Work is busy, busy , busy and deadline looms. Had a frozen shoulder (or two) the last couple of days. Eased off a it today. Guess I need to step away from the keyboard a bit more.
Hello darlings. We're in Yangon. Flew down this morning. Got an appointment tomorrow morning.
We're stating at a friend's place. She's not here. Nice of her to let us use her flat. And she's got wifi!
Pretty shitty wifi, mind.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "We're in Yangon. Flew down this morning. Got an appointment tomorrow morning ..."Wishing the appointment goes well.
Are you adjusting to the local microscopic flora and fauna? Makes it hard to teach if you aren't feeling well.
Morning all. We got home late last night, lovely journey except for heavy traffic in Newport to Cardiff which added time on. I forgot we bust the kettle before we left so had to find the camping kettle as a first job, after driving all that way he really needed his cuppa. TV not working either. Dish must have broken in those gales the other week, never mind. It will all get sorted. Nice to sleep in our big bed though, the dog has far more room to stretch and shove us both out 😄
MorningI had the day off yesterday, it was great! The kids were at the childminder so I got some peace and quiet.
It's Nathan's 2nd birthday today.
Glad to hear Mrs Gaff is doing okay. Nice to see you Patti, hop the appointment goes well. I hope the shoulder eases up Kelly and your side, shoulder and sciatica clear up Desley.
I really want to try a cheese sandwich with chilli jam now.
Last full day in Portugal today which is a monumental pisser. I love our holidays here, we do just enough exercise not to get fat and spend loads of time sitting by the pool reading and gently toasting in the sun. I am more relaxed than I’ve been in ages. I do like having an active holiday, but I like breaks between the activity and somehow when we go with friends, we are always out and about or swimming or doing something that aggravates the pain in my knees and does not involve sitting around nearly enough for my taste. The nice thing about this is we are doing lots of walking and lots of swimming but there is recovery time between. Basically, I love a beach holiday I guess. Nearly had a bit of a disaster though as when I dropped McCat off the cattery thought I was picking him up last Saturday, not tomorrow. Gulp. Luckily there was room at the inn.
Wrote a blog post, if anyone’s interested it’s very long but there probably won’t be one this Sat as I’ll be collecting the cat!

Morning. Lovely here again. Sunny, was thinking about lunch a few minutes ago and a noisy pheasant strutted his stuff on the lawn outside .............. maybe another cheese and chili jam sandwich though - the catapult went into storage when we moved.
Morning - it still is, isn't it? Sunny here and, for the time of year, not bad, though I think we're in for a chill over the weekend.Typing up some kids poems for a Facebook friend. She's got lovely ideas but minimal punctuation!
Flower arranging this aft.
L.A. wrote: "Morning. Lovely here again. Sunny, was thinking about lunch a few minutes ago and a noisy pheasant strutted his stuff on the lawn outside .............. maybe another cheese and chili jam sandwich ..."Is that for the pheasant or you? ;-)
I never much liked just sitting around. But now I've got dodgy legs, I'm starting to get the hang of it...(Enjoying some toast & marmalade after my morning walk :)
It's cold and grey here - which matches my mood. I've just been on an hour long internet course on Making Tax Digital and am thoroughly depressed as a result. It all seems to be horrendously, unnecessarily, complex - especially for anyone working in tax.
Sciatica still not great, between that and my shoulder, playing with Coco and hand feeding her was painful. Chanel was sweet this morning, she very gently brushed my leg more than once while I was putting out the food. I have been getting a few sneaky strokes this week. Disturbed Lucy this morning, I felt her against me when I woke up, reached down to find paws then she jumped up, so I got up, was darker today. Need to do some tidying tonight ready for the cleaner tomorrow. Good luck with the appointment Patti, nice that you have been able to borrow friends flat and wi-fi, however rubbish. I'm also not good at sitting around (I stiffen up if I sit long enough to watch a film). Glad you have had a really relaxing holiday MT, you need it. Glad cattery had space! Glad you are home Lynne, and had a back up kettle! Good luck getting TV sorted.
I'm just getting into the whole not sitting on my arse thing. I'm enjoying running, while I can. I get pain in one knee and have done for years so I'm conscious that my days of running are probably more limited than the average person. I've had it checked out by several people and no one has said there is any damage to it and I was advised by one doctor to exercise more to strengthen my muscles. I've never had an x-ray though.I'm excited for the cold weather. I can't wait to get wrapped up in my winter woolies.
Glad you are enjoying your hols Mary and are feeling the benefit!
Will wrote: "It's cold and grey here - which matches my mood. I've just been on an hour long internet course on Making Tax Digital and am thoroughly depressed as a result. Dammit! Just got my driving licence form returned cos I didn't fill in the bit where it said in the notes "do not fill in this bit if your eyesight hasn't changed". And of course it hasn't.Bloody bureaucrats, wish they's make up their minds!
M.T. wrote: "L.A. wrote: "Morning. Lovely here again. Good bait idea of course ....... cheese & chili crumbs in through the back door ........ shut the door .......... chase round the kitchen......... get him out of breath .......... hmmmmmm maybe I'll just eat the sandwich instead : - )
Will wrote: "It's cold and grey here - which matches my mood. I've just been on an hour long internet course on Making Tax Digital and am thoroughly depressed as a result. One has to love the power of a NDASir Philip Green already has had his wiki entry updated! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_...
Hate to say it, but sunny Southern California really is. Blue skies almost every day, and the slight overcasts never turned into rain.Getting back to writing, and have to do it this morning, because too many activities in the afternoon. You can be as social or as isolated as you like, but we're trying a lot of things to see which ones stick.
Have yet to get a driver's license, but we are registered to vote.
Evening all, I've had a mixed day of washing, tidying and fiddling with my website. I've generated rather a lot of rubbish and things to take to charity shops so that's one of tomorrow's jobs. Also nearly fell down the top flight of our stairs but managed to save myself, tweaking my back and thwacking my elbow against the wall in the process. OuchHow has that odious man Green still got a knighthood?
Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "How has that odious man Green still got a knighthood? .."
Haven't a clue, but he's just apparently just wasted half a million pounds on legal fees to keep his name under wraps :-)
Evening,Had a massage tonight and, after the whole pleasure/pain thingie, my shoulder feels a bit better but still very tight.
Patti, you've been missed. Hope the appointment goes well.
Oh!!! It's Green!!
Mixed kind of day. Got a text earlier from a friend that his mother just died of cancer. Now saw a message from another friend who is recovering from a brush with death via bleeding ulcers.
