Morning!3 degrees according to the car this morning. I had to put the engine on to warm the car up before we got into it, the wind screen was frosted too.
Hope everyone is keeping well and keeping warm! I'm meant to be running at 9:30 on Sunday, I hope it's dry and not icy! I do have thermal running gear if it isn't.
There was rag on the grass last night, so I think the cold came in early here. But it is a bonny morning :-)
It's an incredibly pretty day here. I'll be outside soon with the paint brush.Yesterday I spent on the train, caught up in the Paddington mess. How anyone ever relies on the trains these days is beyond me.
Plumber replied this morning, he can’t come for a few weeks but gave me his brothers number who is an electrician. Rang the docs, I’m OK for my annual bloods next month, but they are out of stock of the flu jab, so I may have to go back for that! Remembered to swap my orthotics, so my boots have gone from being too large to rather snug, more painful being snug. Must try and get a cheap gel insole so I don’t to keep swapping. Train issues are why I opted to drive to the airport this year, for the first time ever, used to be so easy on the train, and cheaper.
I’m home, we nearly got run over crossing the road to the restaurant, chap in 4x4 looking at his phone texting from what I could see, indicated left and not looking at all where we were crossing, I shrieked and he looked up and swerved right. I used my best vocabulary on him which greatly amused my pals. The restaurant gave us free aperitifs

Oh yes I can shriek! The milkman once said to me you don’t need dogs if you can shout like that, as I yelled at the pack to be quiet. The driver’s window was open though but we didn’t get his number - it all happened too quickly. If we’d have thought properly he went up a road which leads nowhere other than houses if he didn’t live there he’d have had to come back but we didn’t think of that. None of us were dressed for running after him. My pal had the highest heels on I’ve ever seen.
Flu shot had 24 hours of mild misery attached, but it's done for the season. The community has a flu clinic next week, and many wait until then.
had three days off sick, Dave had two. We dragged ourselves in to work today as its international day. Half term holiday next week. Thank gawd.
switched my phone on to update the diary for next year. (I'm going to a meeting and they'll probably suggest dates and I don't want clashesGot a text saying could I get somebody to phone his wife as soon as I see him
Last switched phone on on Sunday so not entirely sure the text is relevant any more
Not sure whether to have the flu shot, husband had it last year and didn’t get flu, neither did I without it. My brother in law had the flu shot last week plus pneumonia protection and was really ill. I could hear him coughing in Northampton when I phoned my sister from France.:0)Lovely morning here we’ve been so lucky with the weather. The floods much further west near Carcassonne have taken 14 lives.
Morning all. Just had an email to say that there's going to be a fire alarm test this morning, so it's a good job it's sunny in he valley today. Thank heavens it's the weekend!
Hope you're both better soon, Patti and Dave.Sunny here. A few garden jobs are calling. I hear their siren song.
Got woken up at 6 by someone’s car alarm this morning! Typical when I don’t have to get up till 7. Hopefully an easy day at work, then a home visit after work. Going to nip into the garden centre near the home visit after to see what they have. Don’t need much food shopping, so just going to nip into the Morrisons near the home visit. Might have to make my grey boots weekend ones, they are more painful than my black ones! Sorry you and Dave have both been poorly Patti, glad you have half term to recover properly. Glad you have had your flu jab Alicia, sorry you were a bit under the weather after it. Hope you get a relaxing weekend Kelly. Yeah, probably not relevant now Jim! I decided one year not to have mine Lynne and was ill for 6 months, so I just do it now. That flooding sounds dreadful.
It was all round Carcassonne. Nothing tidal just the sheer volume of rain. Several months rain fell overnight and it really caught people out as they weren’t aware of the danger as they slept. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/...
I got the flu jab a few days ago - time will tell if it works!Sorry you've both been ill, Patti. Hopefully next week will be a relaxing break.
Got some stuff to finish off tonight and then a meeting tomorrow. After that am going to chill - I hope!
Hope everyone does exactly what they want this weekend.
I’ve got to pack today but that won’t take very long. It’s like the Somme here this morning, the hunters are firing from fixed posts at the grieves. I really don’t like that. The others are shooting wild boar, and there’s a cull on wolves, they’ve taken out 41 of the 43 agreed and upped the quota to 51. Dogs didn’t get much walking yesterday, between dodging mushroomers and hunters, we gave up and came home.
Had an interesting evening, went back to the retail park as I discovered something that I wanted to buy as a C present was on offer, then nipped to see if there was any cat food on offer in the Range, got stopped by an NSPCC lady who said I really was the cat lady (I was holding over 50 pouches of cat food!), not sure how to take that! Home visit went well but didn't get much from the garden centre. Spoke to an electrician, he thinks he can change my heating control on Mon/Tue, that's good, and spoke to a cleaner, she's coming round at 10 to discuss what I want doing. Didn't get a lie in again, am tired, but was too hungry and thirsty to get back to sleep. Might have a nap after she's been, I'm going out for a walk with my friend and her dogs this afternoon but I do have housework to do. Hope you get to chill Kelly
Morning! Off to see our grandson and his people. Hope the weather keeps dry! We're taking him a toy dinosaur with snapping jaws! Only hand sized but a bit of fun. For him too, maybe!
My little grandson is obsessed with dinosaur toys too. I think I got him the same sort of thing recently. We’ve all had a little play with it. He’s poorly with a very scary attack of croup.
Morning all, it's dark and windy... Hoping to work in the garden today but I'll wait and see what the weather's doing first
I’m going to buy cakes and go to a friends for coffe, I’m all packed so it’s very much end of holiday feeling. It’s a beautiful day again. Husband had to bring dog walk to a quick end yesterday. They were shooting grieves in the woods. My Dobermann was beautifully behaved - he hadn’t a clue what was happening but the bangs didn’t scare him. My little spaniel was completely OTT. There were hunters dogs running everywhere picking up dead little birds. She didn’t know whether to pick up or take the dogs on. Either way she’d have got her teeth into something, she’s like that!
Well, ended up a bonkers morning yesterday, cleaner was lovely, just my kind of person - an animal lover who loves reading! Lucy liked her too, and she is going to bring a treat with her in the hope Lucy won't hide under the bed when she comes. As she was leaving, she told me a tale and my 'ratty' neighbour heard voices, so came to the door with one of the rats on her shoulder, the cleaner was all 'can I say hello', so I held the rat while neighbour went and got the other one, so we stood chatting for about 10 mins while stroking the rats. Had a lovely walk and catch up, it was a nice crisp autumn day. Did find last years boots while looking for my gloves, so now have 4 pairs to choose from, so better not buy the other burgundy ones. Didn't manage a lie in again, got some housework to do this morning, then we are going to Botany Bay, have a wander and then a pub meal. Supposed to rain today, it has rained overnight.Ooh, don't think I could have coped with that Lynne!
Good morning! Bright and sunny here again. We had a lovely visit with son, daughter-in-law and the little lad - now two and a half with a rapidly expanding vocabulary. Most of it requiring to be shouted very loudly! I lost them after popping into a small shop in Scarbrough market but when I came out I could hear him. Round a couple of corners and there he was, pointing and yelling his approval of something.

Hope you weren't draggy all day.

Not my problem, as I keep saying to myself. But then other people bring theirs to Sunday brunch - little dolls.
Morning all. Even the sun's struggling to get up over the hills today. Made driving into work a bit of a glarey nightmare, but all good and hopefully it'll start to warm up in the valley now. Mixed bag of lessons today and Mrs Gaff is in for some camera work tomorrow, to try to understand what's going on in the digestive department. I asked if Ridley Scott or Steven Spielberg could direct, but I think they're both busy, and lord only knows how they're going to fit the lighting and sound crews in there, but that's up to the hospital to sort out. Fingers crossed for some positive results, anyway!
Morning, all. We're getting the flu jab ourselves in a couple of weeks - after last year's nasty bout I'm being overcautious.
bright enough but with occasional drizzleHope Mrs Gaff is happy at the results of her starring role :-)
Bright and sunny here. If I didn't have to do something to earn some money, I'd be out attending to the list of outside jobs that need doing
Well, yesterday ended up not as good as it could have been, we were running late setting off, then we spent ages in the Christmas shop so I didn’t get as much time for the shops I wanted, but did manage to come back with some coffee and candles. Pub lunch was lovely, my neighbour had been impressed with the menu online but I didn’t like it, when we got there, it wasn’t the same menu, it was a much nicer one. Food was really good, but massive portions, so we will probably go back. We did have a bit of a scene though, our friend from Malta brought his Italian girlfriend and she felt left out and was tired from a hectic few days that she ended up in tears, we tried to just not make a big deal of it. It was a traditional country pub that allows dogs, so we stroked a few of them. Managed to finish the housework and have a bath when I got home, although I noticed this morning I forgot to declutter something I told the cleaner I would do before she comes on Fri! Sunny but cold today. Maybe I’ll treat myself to the burgundy ones with my birthday money, my only concern is the grey ones did hurt my heel a bit and the burgundy ones are the same style, but if I have 5 pairs to choose from I should be OK. Electrician is coming after I finish work to change the controller, very impressed as I only rang him on Thu, have been waiting since March for the other to return my calls!
Good morning all,my status update for all the consciousness explorers - https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...
There are plenty of other places you can promote yourself in this group Nataša...!Afternoon all. Bright and breezy today. I am trying to tidy the house but if I'm honest all I'm doing is moving the clutter around. Although I can now actually see the surface of my work table which has been hidden for several weeks
Eh... morning? We had an exciting weekend. Kitty burst into tears when we picked her up at the childminders on Thursday and wasn't able to catch her breath. I think that was the oddest moment of my life, chatting calmly to the childminder as if nothing out of the ordinary was going on while getting Nathan into the car and trying to soothe Kitty all at once. Thankfully Gareth had happened to come too. Kitty was getting really upset and not able to breathe and coughing horribly (croup!). Trying to tell a 4 year old to stay calm and take slow, steady breaths is harder than I expected!
Rang the OOH Dr when we got home and they rang straight back and told us to come down to the hospital where the poor toot had to use the nebuliser and she still couldn't breathe! We got a prescription for steroids and that settled her down in about 10 minutes, she was a wee star through the whole thing. Gareth and I took a while longer to settle :o)
I took Friday off to look after her and she was spoiled rotten by everyone (sweeties galore!). It was lovely spending the day together. I thought she was past the age for croup!
I ran 10k yesterday and got 30 seconds faster than my last official 10k, it was under an hour so I'm happy with that. Must look out for the next one now.
Hope you are feeling better Patti
I hope everyone who has the flu jab doesn't feel ill effects from it or that they pass quickly if you do! Typically, Kitty was meant to get hers (nasal spray) on Saturday past but after Thursday she couldn't.
I hope everyone else is well, I did read all the posts but I can't remember the half of it now after typing all this. I should have typed my replies first.
