Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Hello all, sending my best wishes to all those that have suffered injuries

Super day here, could stand it a bit warmer though. Acrobatic plane idiot is doing his thing above our heads - I would have thought there’d be regulations about flying over built up areas? I mean he could be doing it 500m further over, above the sea!

That's why we're having it! We've got two as my sister is coming round. We often have pizza and a glass of wine on a Friday (she still works so Friday is a big deal) but I've got some non-alc as we're all doing Sober October for Macmillan. Not the big sponsorship page, just saving what we'd have spent and giving it a good home at the end of the month.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Got quite a bit done outside in nice weather this morning, before retiring to the desk with the windows open...

And now the weather has changed for the worse. At least I'm indoors for it!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments So sorry to hear about your MIL, Kelly - hope she's okay. What a scare!

Desley, hope it doesn't take too long to get your laundry and luggage sorted. I hate that part of travel.

Kath, cake is a great idea. I guess I'm officially 'elderly' now, but I sure don't feel it: everyone here is older than we are, and the dining room has cake every night. It's hard not to have cake.

message 7955: by Erinn (new)

Erinn Price | 3 comments Evening all,
Delsey, I do not know what you did to your foot, but an injury that gets worse on rest is not a good sign. If you haven't had it checked out you should. Either your injury is such that you do not feel it when using it, so pain is masked, and you end up injuring yourself more and taking longer to recover as you use your foot when you should be resting it. Or the injury is in some way impeding normal blood flow. If it swells up or becomes discoloured immediately go see the doctor.

Bah sorry for writing such a downer, but I just had bad experience with friend and the type of thing you described.
I promise you I am not normally a doom and gloom sort of person. I am actually usually funny, well sometimes.

Think I will keep quiet now. Nice to meet all of you.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Thanks for the concern Erinn, I've seen 3 doctors, 2 podiatrists, had an x-ray and ultrasound that were both normal and a steroid injection. It does still look bruised but podiatrist wasn't concerned

Neighbour had an engineer out, apparently there are about 6 of us with problems so he's coming back tomorrow with a part. Not sure if I will need the new router or not

message 7957: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I did find that a new router solved my internet issues, although I practically had to scream at BT to get one.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all,

Had a brilliant day out with Dexter and the family. Went to a little toddler amusement park that had lots of rides and animals and playgrounds, he loved it.

I agree Jud, i think we could have gotten away with just buying a bunch of balloons and he would have been just as happy!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, it’s raining a bit but looks like clearing. I just had an Amazon email with the usual daily offer and had to look twice. Iron and magic it said, too good to be true. It’s a book!
Have a good day all.

message 7960: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Raining and cold. Still, it means I'll be staying indoors, out of trouble!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning, it's nice here - so far anyway! We've had a power cut since 3.30am when I was woken by our UPS the computers are plugged in to. Nice Scottish Power engineer has now patched us up (with a big fuse!) but they'll be digging the road up in the next day or two.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning all, quiz was fun, we did a couple of things wrong, but it was our first go. Cold and drizzly out, fine as I have to unpack, wash and do some housework. Nicer weather would have been good as I don't have a dryer.

Fingers crossed R. Glad Dexter had a lovely birthday

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all, from France. It’s sunny and 21 degrees here so going away for the weekend was definitely the right thing to do, even if leaving my bank card on the kitchen table was less than smart! That said, it’s definitely threatening rain now.

Cheers

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning! Its 4:15 and I've already made coffee!
Ill be requiring a nap later.
So sorry about your mil Kelly! I hope she recovers well and quickly.
I got food poisoning on wednesday. School lunch. Food hygiene isnt much of a thing here. I dragged myself to work on thursday but came home at noon. Should have stayed home friday but i had lessons i didnt want someone else to cover. Had to stay late too as management decided throwing an all staff birthday party after school on a friday was an acceptable thing to do. We all slid out as soon as possible and let the local staff get on with it. I made sure the board chair overheard me saying lunchtime would have been more suitable. Not to mention giving us at least 24 hours notice! They can't seem to get their round the fact that no, we don't want to spend every waking hour at school.
They want to start a saturday morning EAL programme and seemed very surprised when i said i want nothing to do with it. Seriously.
Weve still not hired a cleaner so we spent from 5 to 9 yesterday morning cleaning and mopping the flat. The power died about 9am so that put a stop to doing laundry. We went out shopping about 1pm. Being in a tuktuk in traffic in the hottest part of the day with a dodgy tummy is an adventure.
I found some gorgeous longi fabric at the mall, so it was worth it though. Ill post photos of it on Facebook later if i dont forget.
Mate had a birthday party round his last night. We went for a couple hours but i wasnt feeling particularly festive so we left before 9. Glad we did. I need to get my tummy sorted or ill be having a shit week. In every sense of the word.
Dave was making noises last night about going out for bowls of noodles for breakfast this morning. Cant say its sounding appealing. Will see how i feel when he wakes up.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Sorry your tummy isn't well, Patti - that makes life a lot iffier.

You could have asked them how much the pay was for Saturday morning EAL: triple for after regular hours, double for weekend?

message 7970: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments looks like you've got an 'interesting' clash of cultures going on there Patti :-)

Hope the tummy settles

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It’s raining here quite steadily but not at all cold. Can you get the usual remedies for bad stomachs or would you like anything sending? Diomectate powder sachets or Imodium would be fine in the post?
Roger came back from bakers giggling a few minutes ago. He saw an old chap, very tall walking slowly with a stick, wearing one of those Mary Maxim type big knitted jackets, collar pulled up high and no trousers, just underpants.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments First frost of the year here! Nippy, but should get better. Sun's out so that's nice.

message 7973: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Ooo blimey Patti, hope the tum and the culture clash both settle down soon.

Grey skies here this morning and we’re back to Blighty. Booo!

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning all, still no internet. Surprising how well I'm coping. Need to do housework, although have been persuaded to go for lunch, feet are killing so quite glad. Still feel drained after sleeping through

Hope your tummy settles Patti.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all,

Hope you feel better soon Patti!

We have family around today for an afternoon tea for Dexter's birthday. My wife is out for a run and she told me to clean while she was away......

Right, i better go!

half past nine and there's still no real warmth in the sun

Tim | 8539 comments Morning. Frost on the cars first thing, but it didn't last long.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all. I caved in this morning and put the heating on (12 degrees is too cold for indoors though, right?) shame after yesterday was so lovely, it's grey, windy and unpleasant outside.
I'm sure Dexter would love to help daddy with cleaning Lindsay :)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Thank you for your messages everyone. It's not been a fun week.
I went up the coast yesterday to Warkworth and Amble which was really good to get out, and I'm in Durham today for a book talk, waiting to go in and see Dame Sue Black which should be really interesting.

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Hope you feel better soon Patti.

Its a grey day here. Not raining though. Second morning this week that I had to de-ice the windscreen.

My dehumidifier has broken and since I have to dry clothes inside I need to sort out a new one.

I've been listening to an audiobook but my headphones need recharging, I can't decide what to do for the moment.....

message 7981: by Kath (last edited Oct 07, 2018 12:07PM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Went to Warkworth for three days a few years back. It turned out by complete coincidence to be the weekend the do the History of Warkworth at the castle - including blowing it up with fireworks! It only happens every three years, I believe, so we were dead lucky to be there.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Had a lovely lunch with my friend, they had sold out of cake though! Had a wander round the charity shops too. Another neighbour has rats and one has a poorly eye, so I've been roped into helping put eye drops in twice a day, as she knows I love them. Not done enough housework but hey ho. Just about to run a bath

Glad you have had a nice time Claire

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Sold out of cake???!! How dare they!!!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments I know, it was the whole point of going there!

message 7985: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments I am never going to get back to writing if they keep having Sunday brunch at this place!

Unfortunately, it's always on the schedule - and always delicious. The temptation has been irresistible. That - plus being so tired a sugar lift sounds like a good idea. Must learn to deal with it.

message 7986: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. Had a damp, quiet weekend, but I'm hoping to be a bit more together this week.

message 7989: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning.

My train was delayed this morning and then sat in the main Belfast station for a while waiting for other trains to come in before it could go. I got in to work nearly 30 minutes late. Raging.

How is your tummy today Patti? I hope you recover quickly.

message 7990: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Done some emails, chopped some more brambles (will it ever end?) and now settled at the desk.

Dilemma: do I work, shop for a replacement car, or write?

Or multi task?

message 7991: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments And now I have an email from BT telling me good news! My booked engineer will turn up tomorrow, October 11.

errrrr

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Didn't say which year did they? Next Tuesday 11 October is in 2022 :)

Raining here earlier but sunny now. Quite mild too, surprisingly. We have two enormous excavations outside the house where they were fixing the electrics. Poor sods were working from 9am on Saturday until 9.30pm

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Slept through but still didn’t want to get up this morning! Ratty wasn’t that co-operative this morning though. Router arriving today, let’s see if it fixes the problem, although am hoping the engineer will have also fixed the issue too, as they didn’t turn up on Sat. Quite mild, typical as the heater defaulted to 21 overnight!

Sorry you had a nightmare journey Jud. Hmm, that is interesting Will

message 7995: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all. Knackered and Real Life is a bastard at the moment. Lots on and all of it at completely stupid times that leave pathetic amounts of wasted dead time in between. Really struggling to get ten minutes a day writing in. McOther’s work has gone bats so he’s permanently a.w.o.l. And since we are very much a team, when one goes down it makes rather a noticeable difference.

Just head down and plodding through at the moment.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ten minutes to breathe before my next lesson.
I spent a double lesson with Dave and combined year 4,5 and 6 classes doing a role play of the Romulus and Remus myth.
Great fun.

Year 8 in a bit. Two are absent today so I'm going to be teaching two. May do a last minute lesson change. Need a think.
