Jim | 21812 comments chucked it down last night, today it's dry because there's no rain left to fall!

message 7902: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Dry here - sunny even. Chicken run full of ginger feathers. Moulting time again.

Off to tee-up a blog post and a review - then on with the writing.

message 7903: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It's dry here too, for the moment. I hope it stays that way, I'm hoping to get out for a run at lunchtime

message 7904: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Morning. Overcast here. Seemed quite mild out when I went for my walk earlier.

My leg is hurting a lot less now, although it's still sore in places, and twinges at times. I'm walking fast enough now for my exercise watch to register some of it as exercise!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Great news Tim

message 7906: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That's fab Tim!

message 7907: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well done! Keep it up, Tim. I mean, keep going. Not keep your leg up. No. Ahem.

message 7908: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Thanks everyone. It's still sinking in, can't believe it. Back in work today which is keeping me distracted.

Or over...

Did I say that out loud? Ooops.

message 7910: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Claire, really sorry about Narla: but Kath said it all, didn't she?

Just been at Cwmtydu and been rewarded with a great view of the seal pup coming out of his little cave and lying on the beach before going off into the surf for a swimming lesson from Big Daddy seal.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Got a lift in town from my brother, was going to do the coastal train to St Aubins but it was cancelled due to the weather so had lunch, a wander and came home. Just waiting for them to come home so we can go out for tea

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Just been to the garage to see about getting the old car fit to bring home if Brussels makes life difficult here for travellers with pets.

Tim | 8539 comments Kath wrote: "Well done! Keep it up, Tim. I mean, keep going. Not keep your leg up. No. Ahem."

Actually, I do have to keep my leg up (on a cushioned stool) - it helps stop it from swelling. :)

message 7914: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments So sorry about Narla, Claire. May your many good memories be a comfort.

Glad to hear progress, Tim. You had us worried.

Rain here was prognosticated, hasn't appeared. California needs rain.

message 7915: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sorry about Narla, Claire. I know she felt your love.

Absolutely chucked it down here this morning. Of course I was on playground duty.
We crammed all the kids into the gym for playtime. Was rather nice, actually.
Is it really only Wednesday?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Morning all, had a lovely meal. Struggled to sleep, first woke up by nephew, then the garden people, and when I came down realised the unusual noise was next door having a tree cut down. Lovely blue skies, need to pack then may go to the park round the corner for some peace! Being picked up at 12.30

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. It's a cold, bright Maths and IT sort of day today. Something to look forward to!

message 7918: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Cold here as well, and threatening rain - it's been spotting all the time I was walking to the station.

message 7919: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Dull here but when I've got my slow cooker filled I shall mosey along to my writing room and do the deed.

message 7920: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Didn't sleep too well last night so got a coffee on the way to work. Pumpkin Spice, nom nom nom.

I was going to go for a run at lunchtime but my aunt wants me to go buy fabric so I guess that's the run knocked on it's head. WHAT A SHAME!

Loved your FB post Patti, kids can be so sweet.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely and sunny here, OH in his favourite position. Not sunbathing but flat out on the ground under his beloved car. In an identity parade I’d know those feet anywhere 😀

message 7922: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I am in an online queue, I have never been in an online queue before. What kind of system even allows an online queue? I just want to buy some tickets LET ME BUY TICKETS, I could have had them bought in the time it has taken me to queue if only you had the same set up as every other purchasing site ever.

All that's missing is the dial up tone.

(It's the council website!)

message 7923: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Claire, I am devastated for you. As others have said you did the last kind deed for Narla that you could. xxx

Glad to hear there is progress, Tim.

I haven't been on here since last week. We had an upset on Sunday.

My mother in law was hosting a lunch. We had a table booked at a local restaurant and were all glammed up. party for 21 girls to celebrate her 80th birthday. I got an amazing cake made. She is an artist, she paints, so the cake had icing paintbrushes and tubes of pain on the top and, on the top and scattered around the sides of the cake, were ornate gold painted picture frames and inside were replicas of a selection of her paintings, all from icing.

We were happy and excited.

She was 5 minutes late coming to pick me up when my father-in-law called. My mother-in-law had tripped down the stairs, banged her head against wall, was knocked unconscious and fell on her chest. She was out for almost 15 minutes and blood was pooling around her head. Nightmare.

She was rushed to hospital and we spent all Sunday there. She was strapped to a bed, with her neck and head immobilised for about 4 hours, until they could get the people in to set up the equipment and do the CT scan.

She has multiple fractures to her skull and internal bleeding in her head. Luckily, it wasn't that bad that she had to go off-island. She got out this afternoon and is resting at home.

I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life. Thank goodness it wasn't a worse outcome.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Wow, what a scare Kelly, so glad she is fine and home.

Will post more tomorrow as am shattered, flight was fine but drive home took 2 hours! Lucy took one look at me and hid! Fortunately my neighbour had got me something for tea and lunch tomorrow so didn't need to divert to Aldi

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Holy shit Kelly. Glad she’s OK but ... oh wow. That sounds like one hell of a day. Hope she continues to recover well.

message 7926: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Kelly, how awful! Must have been such a scare for everyone. Glad she's home. Xx

message 7928: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Glad your mother-in-law's okay, Kelly - hope she gets better soon.

message 7929: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Goodness Kelly! I'm so glad she is okay,

Morning

I hate how lack of sleep creeps up on you as the week goes on. Kitty was in bed late last night so she was a nightmare this morning, I pity her teacher and my parents who have to deal with her.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, that’s awful news Kelly. I hope she makes a steady recovery, poor lady.
We’re all good here, nothing to report. I’m gradually catching up on sleep, as I’ve been getting up at 5.30 for grandson duties but not sleeping properly for fear of missing the alarm. I wondered seriously if I was ill as I couldn’t stay awake in the afternoon or evenings. It’s just lack of deep sleep. Feel fine now. OH gone wine shopping. I’m dog sitting.

message 7931: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Back from the cake club. It's a popular event! Got time to hammer out a few words and then I'm off to flower-arranging. All this enjoying yourself is knackering!

I heard on the news this morning that people over 65 are being encouraged to eat butter, cream, and cake! It seems that the 'elderly' - how dare they?! - are taking their fears of obesity too strongly and fading away. Pfft! So as not to lose undue amounts of weight in our sunset years, we should EAT CAKE! Yes! Fist pump!

message 7932: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments So really, there's no point in giving up cake in the first place!

I can get on board with that (and do!)

message 7933: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Excellent! Also, skinny people are the ones who are easiest to kidnap. So stay safe - eat cake.

message 7934: by Desley (Cat fosterer) (last edited Oct 04, 2018 05:23AM) (new)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Well, I ended up going for a walk yesterday morning and finding a bench in the sun to read on for a bit yesterday morning to get some peace! Managed to get through security without being checked, that never happens! Did get pulled for my handbag though, but I’d bought something from duty free so squashed it in that bag. We were late setting off, but seemed to make some time up, unfortunately my drive home was 2 hours! Wasn’t as stiff as I expected. Am really tired today, wishing I’d thought of booking the day off. Luckily the office is quiet and I’ve not come back to too much. Just been told we are moving upstairs next month, part of me is glad as it will mean more steps, but I’ve been at this desk for the whole 8 years we’ve been in the building, so not sure about a new view. Couldn’t be bothered to unpack last night, so had to go down 3 times at bedtime for things I’d taken with me that I needed. Must unpack tonight, unfortunately the wash basket was full before I left, and now have a suitcase full of stuff to sort out. Internet wasn't working this morning, so have switched the router off for the day, if that doesn't work I need to ring TalkTalk!

message 7935: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I hate coming home from holidays with all the washing to do. When we were in Aberdeen I made sure to do a wash before going home just so it would be less to do when we did get home! I was lucky to have a washing machine available to us :o)

Sounds like you had a lovely morning Desley, I'd quite like to go for a walk and sit in the sun reading for a while. And it is surprising how unsettling a new work view can be but you'll soon get used to it!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Well it’s very windy in west wales so eating cake is a good idea. I shan’t blow away in a gale. My mum always said you need two bricks in your pocket to get to the end of our road, the cake ballast is much nicer.

message 7937: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Evening all.

Claire, so sorry about Narla. I think we can only be thankful for the time we do have with the loves in our lives, be it never so short.

My goodness, Kelly - your poor MIL. I hope she feels a lot better soon.

Himself was transferred to the local hospital today. Before he left he had a proper cast put on his leg and is finding it a lot more difficult than a splint. He wants to come home, but he's definitely not safe to do so yet!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Thanks Jud, maybe I should use my brothers washing machine next year! Still no internet, talktalk do a text messaging internet support but its not instant so have been faffing for 2 hours!

message 7939: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Thanks so much for the kind words.

Drena, my mother-in-law, was discharged yesterday. She has a continual headache, can't move about that well, and is in a lot of pain, but she is home and extremely happy to be there.

I honestly don't think I've ever had a bigger fright.

Desley, there is so much catching up to do after coming home from holiday! Hope the washing disappears soon. Glad you had such a lovely time and I hope we can meet up when you are next over.

message 7940: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Evening all,

Crikey Kelly, glad your MIL is okay!

It is Dexter's birthday tomorrow and i've just had the pleasure of putting together his first real bike and blowing up a load of balloons. I bet he doesn't even notice.

message 7941: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3336 comments How awful Kelly. Glad to hear she is out of hospital at least and hope she is soon on the mend.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Well, talktalk did finally agree to send me a new router, doubt it will get here this week. Luckily my allowance renews tomorrow. Hoping for a quiet day, need to do food shopping on the way home then its our first annual quiz night.

I bet your mother-in-law is glad to be home Kelly. I do hope we can meet up again next time I am over. Fingers crossed for OH Elizabeth

message 7943: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all,

Sorry to hear about your troubles Desley, hopefully they get it sorted faster for you then they did for me!

Dexter loved his bike and his Thomas balloon so much he has not been interested in the rest of his presents!

message 7944: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

I sometimes wonder why we bother with the presents when the balloons are enjoyed so much more. Nathan is a Thomas fan too, he loves any kind of train. It's his birthday in a couple of weeks.

Glad your MIL is home and doing okay, Kelly.

Hope OH gets to grips with his cast and heals quickly, Elizabeth.

I would definitely use your brothers washing machine next time you're there Desley. It's so nice coming home without the holiday washing to do, it's even better if you get on top of the washing before you leave and then are coming home to NO WASHING! It's the dream.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely Indian summer weather here still. Out for lunch today with neighbours. I’ve stopped cooking for guests. It’s not much more expensive to take them out and I get to sit down and enjoy mine with no running about like a looney, between kitchen and table. No washing up and clearing away either. It takes me best part of two days to do a nice lunch counting all the shopping and clearing up so it’s win win plus there’s no rows over menu etc with the management.

message 7946: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Damp and horrible here, but at least I've got the day off work.

message 7947: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning all. Done the weekly shop and it's pizzas for tea so the rest of the day's me own!

message 7948: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I wonder if I should add pizza to our shopping, a nice easy tea!

message 7949: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments just rain, drizzle, rain, brief moment of neither followed by, guess what? Drizzle

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12603 comments Hmm, my foot has been worse since getting back from Jersey, odd as I did a lot more walking there.
