I elected to go back to the old, non-creepy version. Can't be doing with all that.

Hi everyone, I'm back in the bookie world. Was hoping to ease in gently, meeting the new folks, however, I have a pressing question.I've just noticed my novel, Cave, is flagged as Young Adult. I don't know how this happened, looks like it's to do with a reader bookshelf, and although it's on other sorts of shelves, YA is the only one displayed on the main book info. The subject matter, in terms of swearing, violence and drug use, is very adult indeed, and I could get in a lot of trouble if someone bought this for their young teenager.
Please does anyone know who I need to contact to get this changed?
Thanks.
Bit of a difficult situation, Ali. I think Goodreads shelves are entirely reader-determined and not managed by the site. If only one reader has added it as YA, however, that could be overwritten if it gets added to some other shelves by two or more people - the main page normally seems to show the most popular shelves.Maybe try adding the book to a different shelf yourself and asking one of your readers to do the same?
Is there not a facility for the author to add categories to their books? Am sure there used to be a librarian who sorted problems.
I've made it back online, after moving 50 miles - and it feels like I've gone back 50 years in time as everywhere but the pubs closes as the sun goes down...And the internet at the moment is rubbish, but hopefully BT will sort that out.
And no, the old house still hasn't completed. Some rubbish about manorial rights (the Earl's right to hunt, shoot and fish across the back garden, as I understand it).
Ali wrote: "Is there not a facility for the author to add categories to their books? Am sure there used to be a librarian who sorted problems."Only by reviewing the book yourself, as far as I can tell.
Librarians are still around, but I don't think they'd change categories because Goodreads want them to be entirely crowd-sourced.
(See here, for instance: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...)
Glad the move went well Will, shame old house isn't entirely sorted. Good luck with BT and enjoying the quieter life
Ali wrote: "Is there not a facility for the author to add categories to their books? Am sure there used to be a librarian who sorted problems."There are a couple of librarians here who could sort it. Is Janet around? Or Jud?
Kath, Kath, Kath - homemade Christmas cards with watercolours - am officially put to shame. How do you fit it all in? x
My prodigious lack of housework explains much of it. I dusted once. It all came back. I'm not falling for that lark again!
Kath wrote: "My prodigious lack of housework explains much of it. I dusted once. It all came back. I'm not falling for that lark again!"Ha ha - I take your point about dusting. I best keep away from that.
Kath wrote: "My prodigious lack of housework explains much of it. I dusted once. It all came back. I'm not falling for that lark again!"my better half noticed this phenomena as well. We save dusting for the last possible moment before anybody comes who might notice it :-)
I don't mind if my guests write their name in my dust, as long as they don't write the date.Another rather busy day here.
I'd rather be busy than bored, so I'm not complaining!
Managed to get in work early again, to find our receptionist has had to quit as her dad has had a heart attack, so we are back to square one there! So helping out again for the foreseeable. At least we have cake again today. Despite only 3 of us, we did manage quite a long meeting again, lots of talk about other rescue related stuff, like first aid boxes!Urgh, I also hate dusting.
Hello all,Haven't been in for a while, what have i missed?
New job has been very busy but good, my boss actually listens to me which is a very new and weird situation! Recruiting for 3 new staff members currently.
Dust? what's dust?We just have a light covering of particles all over our house, i think it adds a little something.
big congrats, Lindsay! My fridays look like they're not going to be too bad. I've actually had a couple hours to get some much needed displays organised.
Hopefully my classroom will look much improved in the next week or so.
Morning all,Glad your Fridays are looking good Patti.
I have a day of back to back meetings and interviews today.
Morning all, woke up before the alarm again but Fri is a later start! Should have been more productive really. Gloomy out, hopefully a quiet day then food shoppingGlad you are enjoying the job Lindsay, good luck with meetings and interviews
Eh up! Really enjoying making these cards. The real challenge at my age is finding something you've not already done.

According to dear old Terry Wogan, life wasn't complete unless you'd tackled the preparation of a mango while standing in your sink stark naked apart from a pair of wellies...
Morning everyone.Best of luck in your new homes all. Forgive me if I'm wrong, Alicia, but aren't you down for at least one more move into a two-bedroomed apartment? Whatever, sounds like you're enjoying life.
Good news Tim - hope you've made it home and are enjoying bacon and bananananas.
Went for an eye check up the other day and although the scans showed great improvement I obviously need the full three lucentis injections. Hey ho.

Will wrote: "Breakfasted on ripe blackberries. The only perk of being over run with brambles."a neighbour of ours had domesticated blackberries running wild. You could pick enough for a meal just walking along the road :-)
Unfortunately they sold the house and the new owner has reclaimed their garden
Ah I love blackberries. There aren't many round here within walking distance though, or at least, not that aren't near a major road (particulate crumble anyone).Lindsay, glad the work scene is looking up.
Morning all.
Brambles are a major part of what put me in hospital. While I love blackberries, I'd happily set a flamethrower to the lot of them!
Will wrote: "Breakfasted on ripe blackberries. The only perk of being over run with brambles."Just had lunch with a home made blackberry sauce (blackberries freshly picked from the brambly garden) and pan fried mackerel!
You lot need to experience the joy of stuffing sun warmed blueberries straight off the bush into your face by the fistfull. Our lovely landlord is looking at getting internet installed in our flat.
Cross your fingers it happens.
I have so little time to pop into the group while at work and using Internet on my phone is not cheap.
I miss you lot!

Sounds like you have moved to a more rural area. If so, you will undoubtedly be enjoying the pleasure of a natural environment. Of course, can understand the frustration of poor internet (we have become so used to the immediacy) but, presumably having chosen to move, would assume you are enjoying the balance of peace and nature to the noise and rush of urbanity.
Hope you get internet sorted Patti. I did enjoy blackberry picking as a child, did do some last year actually
Just caught up on everyone’s news. I’ve been in a bit of a state with my dog. He’s had giardia, god knows how he got it as his lordship, only drinks bottled water on a journey but he’s had it since we went to France in May and niw he has quite nasty consequences. Apparently giardia can give you serious allergies after you’ve got rid of it. He’s just coming right now but it’s been very worrying. We’ve just rebooked our travel arrangements as we weren’t happy travelling him till he’s properly fit. Anyway it’s all done and now I can relax a bit.

You got it, Elizabeth: final move to a two-bedroom sometime in the future - once one we like is available and fixed up for us (unless it is already perfect, and then they usually paint and change the carpeting. Could be months, possibly a year - so we are making this one home. Thanks for asking!
Did I miss reading what lucentis is?
Patti (baconater) wrote: "You lot need to experience the joy of stuffing sun warmed blueberries straight off the bush into your face by the fistfull. Our lovely landlord is looking at getting internet installed in our flat..."
Hope your access gets better, Patti - we don't have our internet here yet (except for the low res wifi), and I can't think this way.
Dave had giardia when we lived in Uganda. Not fun. Didn't know about the allergy thing. Explains the skin rashes he's had ever since.I cheekily left the ac on in the lounge when i went to bed last night. Delightful cool 25 in here. Its nice to leave the bedroom and not immediately start sweating.
Did i mention that there's a family who make bread round the corner from our new flat?
Right on the street on a big metal plate over an open fire. Not loaves but wonderful chapatti. The two daughters make the dough and roll it into balls, dad rolls it flat and cooks it and mum takes the money and sells her amazing curries. I bought six pieces last night. We pigged out on six last night and I'm going to make the other four into rolex this morning. Think I've told you about them. Omelette rolled into chapatti. Delicious!
Had an interesting trip at the retail park yesterday, didn't come back with the main thing I went for! neighbour asked me to get some coal for her, the weight of it made my foot hurt so much I wasn't sure I was going to be able to walk round Aldi, so did forget a couple of things! Had really heavy wind and rain just as I was going to bed, still raining now. Woke up at 6.20 again, managed to cuddle Lucy for a bit, and watched a bit of TV in bed with a cup of tea. Housework today, don't particularly plan on leaving the house unless the weather improves. Sorry to hear your dog has been ill Lynne, we had kittens with that and the vet said it can take up to 12 months for them to fully get over things after, hope it's different when they are older when they get it. Glad he is coming out of it and you've been able to sort out your travel. Wow, that's amazing Patti, rolex sound lovely.
Morning each. I've been knitting a few hats for the local farm from their own rare breed wool so I'm taking them round later this morning to exchange for bacxon and/or sausages. They can't tax that!Back to the teddy bears today. And strimming the chicken's little 'field' which is now beginning to sprout baby damson trees!
Hi folks. Hope you're all doing well. It's sunny outside here in the north of Scotland, but there's a sharpness in the wind. Soon winter will be on us again. The good news is my daughter has given birth to Emmi Isabella weighing in at 6lbs.11oz. We had a scary time for a bit, but all is well now.
I must pop in here for a chat more often.
Where ya'll from?
Good morning all, I nearly asked you Patti if either if you had giardia on your travels. Did Dave have his dairy allergy before? I hesitated as it sounded a bit cheeky. My Billy can’t have beef, maize, corn dairy, rice is suspect too, and a shed load of other dog food ingredients. They can tell all this from a blood test as the antigens pass through the gut wall into the blood stream. It causes allergies to the skin and stomach. I really didn’t know that. We live and learn.

My nephew and niece got that from a cafe in Shrewsbury!
Sorry, morning all. Have written a new blog post and been to the gym. Feeling smug. Plog bost if you want to look at it, phnark.
