Sounds lovely, Patti. I wish I could sit on a balcony but with an enjoyable drink, like a dark rum or something.

congratulations :-)
Yay for Jud and glad your first day was lovely Patti!I've worn my wee feet to stumps wondering around Auld Reekie today. Still incredibly busy and I told off some tourists for rubbing Greyfriar Bobby's nose! Getting so bolshie in my old age :)
Congratulations, Jud. Glad the first day went well Patti. Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. Ah well, got to be done.
I don't often reblog stuff but I've just shared the blog of a Lake District auctioneer who was asked to judge sheep at his local show. It's well worth a read if you want to get a real feel for the place

Spent part of yesterday fixing water pipes, or rather doing the fetching and carrying as the younger and fitter climbed into tractor buckets to sling the pipes outside cow reach :-)
Morning all, neck really stiff today. Overcast here. New boiler working so well I got a whole hour in the bath, lovely
Morning all, really noticing how dark it was by 9pm last night, and I saw the sun rise this morning while I was already out. It was absolutely beautiful - a perfect glowing scarlet orb, like a Hokusai painting.
MorningThat reminds me Rosemary, I've been attempting to get up early to go for a run before work since going for a run after work seems to be impossible. I haven't managed it yet. Maybe tomorrow.
Been offline really until today, following a bit of an accident. Still, I can type again now, so normal service might be resumed. Or not.
Will wrote: "Been offline really until today, following a bit of an accident. Still, I can type again now, so normal service might be resumed. Or not."Oh dear, what happened?
Morning! I've been reading an interminable book and if it were not for the fact it was free from Netgalley I'd have ditched it ages ago - but you feel an obligation. I loved the earlier books in the series but this is looooong. Too long. Ten per cent to go. Thank God!Then - freedom! I keep saying I won't take any more from Netgalley but it's so tempting.
I've never heard of netgalley, I'm not even going to look because I have enough books that I'm not reading.
Hope you're okay, Will - what kind of accident?I've looked into Netgalley, but I wished they charged a little less for small-press/indie authors wanting to use their service - they seem very squarely aimed at big publishers only.
I hope to read a non school related book again some day. Well for longer than ten minutes before I fall asleep, anyway.Today was a very good day. One of the admin staff discovered the assessments I need stuffed into a file cabinet in her office today. I'll need to wait ten days for copies to be made but yay!
Also, I convinced the English teacher to use Wonder as the first text this term. Double Yay!
Way to go!! Are her lessons not already planned? I'm just being nosy.I just uncovered a mistake a made and fixed it before anyone noticed, phew! It was only by chance that I noticed at all but I'm glad I did or it would have been a pain for someone else to try and unravel
Hope you are OK now Will. Had a really busy first couple of hours this morning, I’ve taken over producing one of the weekly reports and today was the first time, only had to print it once, as I picked up my mistakes as I went along, so quite pleased! Then figured out an even quicker way to do it, even happier about that! Feel like I might be starting with a cold though.
Yeah Will. What the heck happened?I've been next to the pool drinking free whisky cocktails for the past hour, waiting for a friend to bring me dinner. I'm frikken starving. And slightly tipsy.
Dave is out apartment hunting. He must be starving too.
I picture him creeping quietly through the bush with a spear, making sure to keep downwind of the unsuspecting apartment, which is quietly grazing on a patch of mown lawn.
Afternoon. The saga of my leg trundles on. Now i’m In the John Radcliffe with “complications” the worst of which is discovering I’m diabetic. Ho hum!
Tim wrote: "Afternoon. The saga of my leg trundles on. Now i’m In the John Radcliffe with “complications” the worst of which is discovering I’m diabetic. Ho hum!"Oh no Tim! I didn't realise you were so complicated! :(

Tim wrote: "Afternoon. The saga of my leg trundles on. Now i’m In the John Radcliffe with “complications” the worst of which is discovering I’m diabetic. Ho hum!"Oh shit.
Glad you're in a place where you'll get sorted, though.
Diabetes can wreck havoc on your immune system, I think. Get that in check and the infection should get better.
It's quite shocking how many of us in the group are in turmoil in various ways at the moment.
It's so good we've got each other to load upon and gain strength from.

Hello all,Blimey there has been a lot going on.
Glad you are feeling better Patti!
Congrats on the Job Offer Jud!
Sorry to hear about your complications Tim, I hope you get sorted soon.
Hope you are ok Will?
Congrats on the wedding anniversary Kath!
I hope i haven't missed anyone or anything. If i have congratulations or commiserations to everyone.
Tim wrote: "Afternoon. The saga of my leg trundles on. Now i’m In the John Radcliffe with “complications” the worst of which is discovering I’m diabetic. Ho hum!"Hope you can get it under control easily. Very true words Patti
Ah Tim you've been through the mill lately haven't you. But a diagnosis is a good step in the right direction and I hope you'll be sorted soon. Will - what happened??
Patti (baconater) wrote: "GL, you are brilliant and that is going on Facebook! ..."she is, she really ought to write more :-)
Apartments are OK but beware of the Gazebo

Gingerlily - All kinds of everything! wrote: "The Dread Gazebo! I am shivering in my slippers."never overestimate people :-)
Bloody Hell Tim. Well that would explain the complications. Diabeties doens’t help with healing etc. At least now they’ve found out you can sort it. Low GI diet will help, although it’s a right pain in the arse as there is sugar in literally everything.I’m 5.5 on the county thing and they start to get concerned when you hit 6 round here so I have to try and eat low G.I. And be sensible.
Will I’m sorry to hear about the Gazebo. Yikes!
Everyone else, morning all. It’s cool and wet here today but still summer enough for the conservatory to get lovely and warm, we will have to close it up come October. Writing is going well but off to see the parents today.
Cheers
MTM
Morning all, cool and overcast again. Nothing interesting today. We were gutted last night, one of my neighbours cats brought back a baby mouse, 20 mins later so did mine! We aren't used to cats bringing things back, Lucy normally just brings moths
Morning Oh Tim, that's a bit rubbish. I hope you are feeling okay and aren't feeling too down about it all. Fingers crossed your leg heals quickly.
Hope you are okay Will, let us know so we can stop worrying about your silence.
Were there a couple of people moving house? Or was it just Alicia? (was it even Alicia? I'm doubting myself now.) Anyway, I only wanted to ask how it was going.
I'm planning on taking a week off between jobs (WOOP!) and we have started a bedtime routine with the kids and it is amazing. Nathan doesn't feed to sleep anymore, he still feeds as part of his bedtime but hopefully that'll tail off in time, preferably sooner rather than later. And with the hint of
Thanks for the nice thoughts guys. Just had a bad fall in the house. Immovable object meets rather more fragile body, sort of thing. Nothing as worrying as Tim's, but still quite painful. And now I'm in the throes of actually moving house, finally. Packing starts tonight (after several trips to the tip) and we start shipping stuff tomorrow. So if I'm quiet over the next few days, it's for that reason...
My biggest worry is safely moving all the books!
Morning. Oooh, take care, Will. It's the bi-monthly village fish and chip lunch today. I'm looking forward to that!
Glad to hear it's nothing more serious, Will, but take care of yourself! And good luck with the move.

We'll be eating take aways for a few days, I suspect. I plan to pack the kitchen tomorrow!

I have to admit, I had visions of you with several digits sawn(?), sawed(?) off and therefore unable to type except in a painstakingly slow manner with just one finger. Possibly because I recently heard of someone who, unfortunately only managed to take the tops off his fingers with a circular saw.
Glad you're okay Will! I hope the move goes smoothly. We've still not found a decent place to live here. I'm so sick of living in this hotel. I know it's only been a week and a half in this one but I could concentrate properly at work if we were settled somewhere.
Can't believe it's only Wednesday. Two more days AND meet the teacher evening after school on Friday. Sigh.
So very tired.
Tim - so sorry to hear; it must have been completely unexpected, too.Just quick report: in California at the CCRC. Lots of 'comedy of errors' things - my blog when I've straightened it all out - but no longer own a house or cars, and are in the guest suite here until the movers arrive.
Will catch up as possible - stay well, all.
