First world problem or what? I put my Fitbit on charge while I cleaned my teeth last night and forgot to put it back on again so I’ll have no sleep stats. Very annoying.

I haven't worn my fitbit for a while as it would appear that I am allergic to something in the wristband.
Its keeps having heavy downpours here.
The stalls etc for the weekend festival are usually starting to open by this time - but there are very few at the moment. Perhaps it is because that now we are on the 29th year there are more little bars, micro pubs, wine bars and food outlets that have appeared in shop premises.
Hope you keep improving Patti

And I had a few bevvies by the pool. As you do on a Friday night.
Sucks we have to spend the morning at school tomorrow.
Official opening day. My face is gonna hurt from the forced smiles.
Naw... It'll be lovely.
Looking forward to Monday when the kids come in properly. Feels like ages since I've taught a lesson!

That's the right attitude for both of you. Many happy returns.

Happy anniversary Kath. The foster cats had their first Tallis blog tonight, enjoyed it so much tea was slightly burned! Good luck Alicia

That's a cracking review :-)
Not only that but it puts me or Tallis in the same category as King Alfred :-)

Next time I'll get a pic of them looking interested!

that would make for a brilliant promo post :-)
I can see how Tallis would go down well with cats, he tends to think the universe revolves around him at times

Mine gets itchy but I find that if I clean it using soap and an old electric toothbrush head and then give it a rinse it stops itching so I’ve assumed it’s some kind of dust thing.

Mine is more than an itch - my skin blisters. I think it is the loop round the wristband rather than the whole band. I've worn it with a plaster or covering on my wrist for a while but stopped completely a few months ago and my wrist is fine now. I don't have any problem with the leather and metal of my watch and strap.
Morning. Up early to get mum's breakfast and tablets. It looks like it might be a good day weatherwise. No plans for the weekend though.

Blimey that sounds grim.

Actually Jim, I got a great pic of Chanel when I was talking to her the night before, you can use that one. Sorry the opening ceremony was boring Patti. That sounds ouchy Janet - I suddenly had that with a watch I'd had for years, but fine with my tracker.

Cousins arriving soon from Manchester so I'll probably not see you again till Monday. Have a good weekend.

Lovely - shame I'm not on Facebook to see it.

Congratulations for yesterday Kath x
Patti, so glad to hear you're on the mend. I'm sure you'll lick your classroom into shape in no time at all.
Back to work on Tuesday, after 2 weeks off. Sigh.
It'll be 4 days of clearing out my space and then moving to the floor above. I take up my new role on the 3rd. I have ten years of accumulated crap to clear out of 3 cupboards.
I've asked for two shredding bins to be delivered to me on Tuesday and I 'm going to have a lovely time chucking stuff away. Stuff that I will no doubt suddenly need in a couple of weeks!
I have one of those watch thingies that tells you how many steps you do. It drives me demented when I am up for an hour or so and have forgotten to put it on as I miss out on all those steps. (I know I have still done the steps but I want to see the proof on the machine!)

Began my eye treatment and am now recovering from an injection in the right eye for macular oedema (swelling at the back of the eye, apparently). This is one of a possible three and then it's on to the cataracts. The nurse was quite correct when she said I'd probably be feeling like 'a burst couch' for a couple of days. (Due to all the adrenalin doing an immediate vanishing act once the procedure was over) I'm intending to emmulate Proctor and Gamble and will be trade-marking that phrase for posting purposes...
Sorry to read about all the sickness and I hope everyone is feeling a lot better by now.
So pleased you've finally made it to California, Alicia. Our moving is temporarily postponed until I have my vision hopefully stabilised.

Thanks Jim, hope it gets plenty of response. Will reply to everyone later

I'm knackered so he'll have to watch it on mute in a few minutes when I crawl into the bed.

I hate it when I take mine off for charging and forget to put it back on, making the step count out - I now charge it at work when I'm sat for a length of time. Glad that you've had a good time off Kelly, good luck for moving your stuff. Hope your eye treatment works Elizabeth

Just popped in to read how everyone's doing.

Good luck with the last bits Alicia.

It's an international school in Myanmar, Erica. The early start means we break up much earlier than other schools round the world in the spring.

Mandalay is fascinating.
Took us five hours of walking a very circuitous route to get to the Irrawaddy river. The bit we found wasn't terribly salubrious.
Mandalay smells very much like India, but with less incense and cow shit. Mostly open drains.
The number of mosquitoes is absolutely shocking. Hoping that will improve after the monsoon season ends. Not that we've had much rain, mind. Not nearly as much as Yangon.
The people here are so lovely and friendly. So, so gentle. Even the taxi drivers! It's difficult to get them to accept a tip!
If all the crap with the school (and there's a shit-ton of it!) gets sorted out, I think Dave and I could be quite happy here for a couple of years.
If not, we may be moving on pretty quickly.

Cup of coffee on the balcony. Not so peaceful, though. A bunch of guys are trying to manoeuvre a huge truck backward down the road the hotel is on. Lots of shouting at 5am. Hope they'll finish soon. I'm enjoying the tinkling of the monk's bells every morning and don't want to miss that. So calming.
Nice change from the traffic noise and harangue of prayer call in Baku.
Ah. They've shut the truck off. That's better.
Did I mention there's a gorgeous Hindu temple just around the corner? Huge Indian presence in this country. Wonderful.
I'm feeling surprisingly calm and relaxed about the kids' first day today. My only goal for the week is to learn their names.
Wish me luck.

Hope your first day goes well, Patti.

At the grammar school I attended we had three form entry, and the headmaster taught one form biology, one form chemistry and the third form RE.
It meant that he got to know the name and abilities of every boy entering his school. I always felt it was a good way to work :-)

Good luck for your first day Patti.

Going into Edinburgh yet again. Bit of a pain but needs must. Not really a proper holiday here, the scottish banks have all capitulated and take the same days as the english ones but most folk just carry on as if it were a normal Monday.

I got an email on Friday informing me of a job offer at the University! Woohoo! I won't be a temp any more! It's only a year fixed term contract but I'm confident that something else will come up before the year is out.
Is today day one of school, Patti? Aberdeen schools were back last Tuesday and our schools go back this week so it doesn't seem all that early to me. Kitty's first day at preschool is Thursday, I've probably said that already.

Thanks for all the good wishes. They worked. I had a lovely first day with the kids in school.
I didn't actually teach today. Won't do for a few days at least. I need to get the EAL kids assessed first. Can't do that until I have the assessment resources.
Anyway, enough about work.
I'm on the balcony eating a plateful of yummy noodles and have a cold beer next to me.
Life ain't all bad.
