Eh up! Haven't reported in. Got my daily dose of writing in, reported back on a beta read and now I'm going for a brew in the garden!
Patti (baconater) wrote: "just stuffed ourselves with Thai food. now we need sleep"Ooh, very jealous. We had a bit of cloud and cold wind this afternoon, took advantage to keep popping in and doing a bit of housework, so pleased that I got a lot of reading in and most of the essential housework done. And neighbour cooked tea.

Right! 139 posts later, that's me up to date. Run ragged with writing and all that entails plus am starting a new job on 3rd September. It is with the same company but I will be MD of the main business unit. This means much. much less travel. Phew! However, it means I am getting dragged into things right now so am really busy.Well - Lynne, we all have that dream of running away from the family. Just ignore them and cuddle doggies. Me, I cuddle cats. x
Desley, I must have missed it - how did the sandals do on Day 2?
Tim, glad you are feeling better but what a nightmare to have ended up this way from just doing normal bits and bobs.
Dave, congrats re daughter No 1.
MT - OMG didn't know about the whole poo and running thing!
Patti - as they say, are you there yet??? x
Congrats on the new job Kelly, will you miss the travelling? Feet sore regardless of what I wear, so sticking with pretty! Ringing the podiatrist tomorrow. Wish I had cuddly cats.
Good morning! One of our bags was left in London. Hope it turns up at our hotel soon. Cross your fingers, folks!
Meeting a friend who we worked with in Baku for dinner tonight. She's been teaching in Bangkok for a couple years.
Off for a wander soon.
Morning all, stuffy already. Might be a quiet day at work, hoping the builder turns up todayHope your suItcase joins you Patti.
Morning!!I got in to work early for a 9am meeting and I am only getting back to my desk now! It is a bit mad here today but I don't care because tomorrow is my last day before I go on annual leave. Woohoo!
Must get on, I've another meeting at 2 and I want to get as much done as possible before abandoning my colleague to do all the work herself :o) She's off today after throwing her back out, she hopes it is just a pulled muscle.

Morning! I went straight in and I've done over a thousand words of the current work. Just come up for air but I think there'll be another couple of hundred before I eat.

Just make sure Griselda isn't around, or you next book may consist entirely of "Ribbit".
Apparently builder hasn't turned up but will ring me when I get home from work, getting fed up of this now.

Brilliant! 50K repetitions of Ribbit and I've a novel! Might sell better than the others, too
why is it in futuristic SF cities the roads never actually go anywhere (any more than a roller-coaster does?" :-)
good morning! bag arrived in the night thank goodness. blue sky here at the moment. gonna check out the palace today I think. and more pool time at some point
Morning, everyone. Off to a meeting today to discuss ways to combat loneliness.I also just checked why the dog was barking early in the morning to find a small panicked bird trapped in the bathroom - thankfully I was able to let it out the window before it could do itself any harm.
Well done on releasing the bird Benjamin,Alicia, sorry to hear about the lack of sleep that’s crap
Patti, glad the bag turned up.
It’s absolutely boiltastic here, already, at 7.35 am. Yesterday I practically melted. I hope the places we are going to on our road trip come with air con!
Cheers

Morning all, was up at silly o'clock and then found it hard to get up with the alarm. Hopefully a vet visit after work. Hope the meeting goes well Benjamin, glad the bird was OK. Glad your bag arrived Patti
Morning, each. Still stinking hot here. Husband attempting to wash the duvet in the bath. I've told him if he wants to do it I shan't interfere!
Somebody tried to access my facebook account from a laptop in Millom last night!I've changed the passwords and they don't seem to have actually done anything but if you've had messages that were more bizarre than usual it might not have been me!
That's odd Jim.Rather warm here, too. And extremely humid. Looks like it gonna chuck it down any minute.
Having a chill time in our lovely cool room for a couple hours before dinner. I had a shufty on tripadvisor and found what looks to be a really nice restaurant. Turns out to be about 150 metres from our hotel!
Oh yes. The heavens just opened. I'm gonna go out on the balcony and enjoy.
Not with my iPad...
I’m collecting samples today. Don’t I live the high life, wee from the grandson and other stuff from the dog. Little lad has proudly announced he’s been and wee’d, flushed it and washed his hands. That was really helpful, I’m now hanging about waiting for him to need to go again as I need it in the sample bottle not flushed away. The dog has a bit of a digestion problem and we need to find a food that suits him better. He’s not ill though.
Jim wrote: "why is it in futuristic SF cities the roads never actually go anywhere (any more than a roller-coaster does?" :-)"There's no particular place to go?
After the washing the duvet in the bath episode, he agrees with me it wants ditching and relacing with a new one!
Ummm.... morning?Had a hectic day today, I'm skipping out on an afternoon meeting in a bid to try and get my work finished before I go off on leave. I'm getting butterflies in my belly thinking about everything I still need to do to get ready. I should have done more last night or even just something...
Hope you are enjoying your holibobs, Patti
Waterstones in Swansea has a great series of events coming up. First a panel with some excellent fantasy/horror writers, then Peter Hamilton and after that Ben Aaranovitch. My diary suddenly filled up.
M.T. wrote: "Alicia, sorry to hear about the lack of sleep that’s crap..."Funny you should mention that; it happened again last night - and 4 hours' sleep isn't enough to pack on. Going back to bed for a bit.
But I did set up the next chapter's worth of Patreon posts, so there will be no interruption with the serializing (though I'm consuming the finished scenes pile, and not replenishing yet); and I regained partial control of Scrivener, so I can at least write something!
It's all the little hits: last night late I was making a list of furniture and boxes for the movers - it never occurred to us that August is the busiest month, and we should have arranged this move ages ago - but we didn't know then what we were taking. They can't move us until September.
Writing again seems a distant dream, but of course I'm getting closer.
Alicia, and this too shall pass! Hang in. It sounds as if you're doing well!I thought the Washing Machine That Wouldn't Die had finished disrupting my life but it appears the new one isn't working, or was installed by idiots. I have had to get another engineer now, for tomorrow. Hope to heavens he can fix the damn thing. I suspect it had a travel screw to keep everything in place in transit and that the total dunderhead who delivered and fitted it had failed to release it. He was a nice guy but he rang me three times while trying to find my parents place and I believe he might possibly be the stupidest person I've ever spoken to in my life.
Cheers

That is what happened to my niece's machine when they moved into their first non-rented house (they are back in rented accomodation whilst they are in Stockholm) I think they were quite lucky that it didn't damage the machine too badly.
I've seen (via FaceTime) my great-niece awake and lots of photos of her asleep. My niece is talking to her in Welsh and English - so I asked if she was also going to teach her Swedish ;)
Niece has been busy with Eleanora - but has also managed to get her second book onto kindle. So if anyone is interested in an illustrated book on mindfulness for children it is

Yeh, I have horrible visions of them having buggered it up totally before it's even 24 hours old. Sigh. Not our bad if they have, down to the supplier D&G used. What's the betting neither one will admit fault and we get stung in the crossfire? I see a long and exhausting legal battle looming, sigh.
Hope your husband could carry a wet duvet though I think polyester is lighter than cotton when wet. . I nearly killed myself in France with a silly idea of washing a cream cotton rug in the bath as it was far too heavy for the machine. It had ridges stuffed with cotton wadding and once wet weighed more than I could lift. I managed to get it into a plastic stacking box and halfway up the stone stairs I went backwards. I’ve since unpicked it and made 6 small mats for the bedside. Why on earth I bought cream though with dogs and dusty footprints I’ll never learn.

I know that feeling well Alicia! Yes, Janet, it is on the same retail park as Halfords - we had some random things this month, wild bird seed, guinea pig food - we do have small furries and sure we will find some use for the wild bird seed.
