w00t!
Jud wrote: "Were you by any chance, talking about rabbits?"Nope. And you don't wanna know what we were talking about, trust me.
No rain here. Just a grey sky thats touching the tops of the trees. Still ridiculously humid but cooler than this morning.
I need to sort out a food delivery order.
Don't wanna.
When it comes to the word "fecund" I can well believe I don't want to know what you were talking about. Today has flown in, I've been working hard!
Evening all,Dex's spots are starting to go away so that is a good sign.
Glad you got your hotels and flights sorted Patti.
Good luck with the job interview Jud, hope Nathan is ok
I'm finally getting my laptop fixed after months of crashing and assorted issues but compressing my Stories folder has taken 2 hours and counting, two reboots and one blue screen... At least I'm getting the chance to catch up on some reading
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Lovely evening now. Humidity has cleared, yay!"Just took the car to drop it off at the shop - like walking through a shower with no actual rain. If my hair were cut short, it would be a mass of ringlets (no, don't think of it; not at my age).
Megan wrote: "Good evening everyone. Such a busy day today has been, mainly been getting everything sorted for my holiday, cannot wait.Good luck with the job interview Jud."
Where are you off to?
Good luck with the interview, Jud. I hope the kids let you sleep last night!Rather a pink sky this morning. Will it rain today? We'll see.
The guy across the way has given up on watering the grass, I think. Thank goodness. Such a waste of time and water.
Dave is going back up today for a couple of days. His father fell getting out of bed night before last. Just bruised his hip but has set back his being discharged. I do hope he's home and settled before we fly. Will be easier on Dave if he is.
There's also been some rumblings about his father wanting to be put in the care home his mother was in before she died. Might be best all round. It's a very good place.
Gald to hear Dave's father is recovering overall, Patti, even if it's a bit of a bumpy road.Best of luck with the interview, Jud!
Morning all.
Morning all, seems cooler here, the humidity last night affected my asthma. Sorry that Dave's dad had a fall, hope he is in a good place before you travel, so hard for Dave. Haven't heard about the fires in Greece
The rain has stopped and it looks like being a nice sunny day here. I’ve pegged daughter’s washing out anyway. I hope it doesn’t sound awful but if Daves dad is still in hospital at least he’s safe. It’s when the elderly and frail are home alone the problems start especially when you don’t live nearby. My great niece’s baby had another MRI yesterday, they didn’t listen to his mum and tried 14 times to get a line in. Poor little soul, they gave up and put a mask on him to anaesthetise him. He’s like a pincushion. It’s shocking treatment compounded by a lack off skill and care.
Lynne, that poor little baby. Hope he is okay today.I am at Heathrow, waiting for my flight to Athens. EEK. It's awful. Last I saw over 50 were dead and loads injured.
Only there tonight, all day tomorrow and due to leave early on Thursday morning to get back to Jersey Thursday night.
That poor baby, Lynne! Rumblings about care home coming from Dave's dad, Patti? Or is it something he would disagree with? So hard to know what to do when you know you're going to be far away, but he may just be disoriented in the hospital. They're not the most restful of places. My heart goes out to him.
Hope the interview goes well, Jud. And it's what you want.
Your plans for Thailand sound so much fun, Patti.
Just about recovered from the weekend. The Botanical Gardens of Wales are beautiful, but the temperature in the glass dome on Saturday must have been nearly 40. Lot of people felt so ill after that they couldn't do the second day.And in other news, K has had a warning letter from her GP's practice: she got cross when the reception staff had messed up her prescription for the third month in a row, still giving her stuff the Consultant had told her NOT to take and forgetting her statins and thyroid meds!
They sent her a warning letter for her getting frustrated at their lack of care and diligence? Is there another convenient practice she could move to out of protest? Afternoon!
I'm in the main office today where internet activity is monitored, apparently so just a flying visit from me today.
Interview was okay, it was very quick so I don't know if that is good or bad. It's an entry level post though so there wasn't a huge amount of technical stuff to discuss really. Fingers crossed I hear soon, either way.
Poor baby, Lynne. I'm surprised they even bother to try with babies. I would be interested to hear the success rate for young children and toddlers when trying to insert a line. I believe things like that can really affect them too, even if they don't remember it.
Fingers crossed for Dave's Dad, Patti. If he is muttering about moving to a care home I would start the process, assuming they have a long waiting list.
I'm also cold Patti. We are having an Investors in People assessment this week, someone has had to drop out so I've been asked to go in the group interview in his place, foolishly said yes!Poor baby Lynne, do hope they can get to the bottom of things soon for him. I can't believe K has had a warning letter Will, disgraceful. Glad your interview went well Jud. Safe journey Kelly
Everyone busy today? They xrayed Dave's father again and it seems he did fracture his femur.
So another surgery, perhaps tomorrow.
Oh no, sorry to hear that about Dave's dad and also the poor baby. Also what a nerve to send K a warning letter.

Is anyone ever held accountable for these things? First, that he fell - in the hospital. And second, that they couldn't figure out he broke a major bone? "These things happen" makes it sound as it there were evil sprites.
I said the same, Alicia. At the least, why were the bed rails not up to prevent him leaving the bed.Having said that, they could have been and he lowered them himself.
He has no memory of leaving the bed, nor of falling, he says.
Apparently his pain is being managed well at least.
Morning all, Spoke too soon yesterday, needed my inhaler. Sun is out at the back of the house, cool at the front. Hoping the builder will turn up and got a fundraising meeting after work.Sorry that Dave's dad has fractured his femur and needs surgery
I don’t want to be a hospital basher but so many wards are understaffed. My husband worked all his career in the NHS. When he visited his mum (she was in the same hospital who treated the baby yesterday) he needed a form and went upstairs to admin. Long corridors of offices with plaques on. Facilitator for this. Deputy facilitator for something else. He said he hadn’t a clue what some of the positions were. Downstairs on the ward two nurses were running from end to end to look after the patients. My friend’s epileptic grown up son fell out of bed, ( no guards) in a seizure and fractured his skull and my own daughter was left within hours of having a Caesarian and still not properly conscious from the anaesthetic with Harry in her bed and he fell to the floor. That was so avoidable it’s unbelievable.
You’d think when a person is in hospital they’d be safe, i always thought so but I’m obviously mistaken. Hope Daves dad gets looked after properly now but a fall like that in his condition is so serious.
Dave's brother's wife is an RN. Well, she used to be. Gave it up for a better job a couple years ago.I know Dave's father would receive better care in the nursing home than he's receiving in hospital.
Not a lot I can do, though.
Morning everyone. This morning's conversation with the new gardener (a nice, tactful man - no irony) went a bit like this after the usual comments about the hot weather:
Him 'One of my customers had a beautiful manicured lawn - years of feeding and scarifying - but he died and the house is being sold and no one's interested so the irrigation system isn't on. It's just brown.'
Me 'That's a shame. I suppose that's one of the benefits of having third grade pasture land - it stays mainly green and you don't have to bother about it.'
Feel free to supply your own subtext...
Unfortunately any organisation is only as good as the people who work in it. It has been my experience that even in hospitals with poor reputations, there actually are pockets (departments) of people who are everything they should be. Luck of a horribly weighted draw, I guess. Fingers x'd for the babe, Lynne and also for Dave's dad, Patti.
Good luck, Jud - hope you get a follow up.
I'm feeling very virtuous after just having a big bowl of lettuce for an early lunch.I'm still hungry though.
That's the trouble with lettuce. look at the size of a rabbit's tum compared to yours.Morning! Been reviewing.
I made a lovely bacon and tomato tart. Vine tomatoes and home made pastry, followed by strawberries & cream, glass of wine all outside. Pogged now trying not to fall asleep while he watches the Tour de France, Did anyone see the French policeman yesterday trying to disperse protesting farmers and sprayed pepper spray into the wind so it affected the peleton and himself. They had to wash their eyes with water before they could continue. Inspecter Clouseau strikes again.
I might cook something from scratch this weekend if Dave is home. No idea what.Started a new book a couple hours ago and promptly fell asleep.
Sheesh
I intended to make the dietician's nightmare that is ham and potato gratin (includes double cream and cheddar cheese, also garlic and mushrooms) on a relatively cool evening, but found the cream was okay until the 35th July (?) so decided to use it up tonight to be on the safe side. Currently the oven is on and will be for another hour and the breeze seems to have died. Sheesh.
It's rather chilly here with the breeze through the windows.I just put a ready meal in the oven. I'm sure it sounds posher than it will taste.
But I've got an entire packet of fine beans to myself, so that's alright.
Love fine beans.
I bought some of those today. Probably to go with some sort of lamb dish. Have to say the Pinot is going down rather well while I wait for the blooming sliced potatoes to cook through properly.
Ha! I'm on the Pinot as well. The ready meal was less than inspired. I should know better by now.
Can I come to your's for dinner tomorrow please Elizabeth?
Good news. Dave's father's surgery went really well and he's doing fine. Even ate a good dinner about an hour ago.I was really concerned about him being put under again but they were able to complete the surgery with a spinal block.
Poor Dave has spent as much time at spec savers trying to get his father's hearing aids sorted as he has at his father's bedside.
Going private with them was meant to be better than through the nhs. Hurumph.
Morning all. Off to a local government meeting about app development today.Glad to hear about Dave's father, Patti - hopefully it's all good news from here.
