I'll take a look through your photos when you get more on your page, I'm sure that I will find something.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Sorry your mum has started having panic attacks Janet. Good luck with the vole MT. We have been told we'll have a hosepipe ban in August.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments The honeyed mop worked, I took pictures of the bee, the greedy bastard drank a whole finger tip full of honey with water smeared over it to make it a bit runnier. Heaven knows what it also drank, off that mop, but it seems OK. I hadn't realised that my ipad does a horrible things with photos where they move for about a second and then stop. ugh shudders. Well creepy. I've switched it off. Oh, and I wrote a bunch of stuff. Woot. The sun has gone in but it's still a very pleasant temperature - feels cool because it's only in the 80s! Got the in-house temperature back down to about 22, which is nice (it was 29 yesterday morning).

Right off to rescue the next (gum)bee that's stuck in our windows!

Cheers

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I had to chase out a bee the size of a chihuahua this morning.

Lovely stuff on your page, Jud.

Still cold here. Good thing cuz I'm working up a sweat sorting the shipping. I had the guys unpack a bunch of it but asked them to stop when we ran out of room to put it.
I'm gonna spend the next couple days reorganising the flat, I think.

My least favorite task ever. Too bad we can't get together and do both ours and giggle the whole time.

message 6558: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Actually, wasn't as big a job as I thought. It's all put away now. I know! I'm shocked too!

Getting together and having a giggle sounds good though!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Any time in the next six weeks you might be in New Jersey? I positively hate this last state of 'if I throw it away, will I ever need it again, and if so, should I just buy one then?'

message 6560: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Evening all,

I do feel a lot better today, thank you for all the well wishes. I am not sure what it was that made me ill, i have to assume something i ate but i didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. Never-mind, whatever doesn't kill us and all that.

I love the page Jud! I really want to start something like that for my woodwork but i have to get good enough for people to want it first!

Sorry to hear about your mum Lynne. Panic attacks are horrible things.

Hope all are well.

Ive been that for years now, Alicia.

Throw it. You'll be amazed how seldom you'll need to buy a replacement and gobsmacked how often you'll discover things you've kept that you've not touched in years.

message 6562: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, no chance I'll be in New Jersey. I'd be happy to meet up in any other country, though. :D

Glad you're better, Lindsay. Didn't need to be dodgy food, of course. Easy enough to pick something up, just by randomly touching something.

It's funny how Dave and I are scrupulous with hand washing and using anti-bac when we're travelling but quite lackadaisical when here. Having said that, I'm obsessive with hand washing and washing fruit and veg after shopping here. People here are pigs in supermarkets. Sorry, but they are.

message 6563: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Hi,

Patti, double rubbish news - wishing well to your father-in-law and your brother. x

I walked on the beach with my friend Claire two Saturdays ago. She said it was the 4th anniversary of the day she was diagnosed with leukeamia. It took a long time but I can honestly say that the girl I hugged 2 weeks ago was the same vibrant, beautiful, healthy, fit girl I've known for over 30 years. What she has gone through has undoubtedly left a long-lasting impression but she is through the worst. I wish the same, and more, to your brother.

Flo, welcome to the wee baby.

Back at work this week but hit my Sunday night writing deadline so yee-hah.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments My friend who had to leave Baku to go home for treatment for breast cancer last year is completely back to her old self. Cheeky git, she is. The stuff she sends me on whatsapp is shocking! And you lot reckon I'm sweary!

Update on Dave's father...

He seems to have come through the surgery well enough but they're keeping him in ICU overnight for observation. Dave's finally back at his father's flat after being at the hospital since 7:15 this morning.

No news on my brother yet. Awaiting test results.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Slept through but feel tired. Hoping for a quiet day.

You have kids, expect sudden unexplained illnesses at all times. Especially the most inconvenient times :o)

message 6574: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

Glad Dave's dad is through the surgery, I didn't realise he was going for surgery I thought you meant he needed to have it at some point. How is he today?

Happy Birthday to Mr Patti Dave too.

Look at you recommending crumpets, Patti. You're definitely a British citizen, even if you are Canadian at heart.

Hope everyone else is well and feeling better

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Foot has been really painful the last hour or so. Temps are supposed to increase by weekend though. Our temp receptionist has had to ring in sick today, her little boy is poorly so I’m helping out on reception again.

Do you not think the honey drips through the holes too much with crumpets Patti?

message 6584: by Lindsay (last edited Jul 18, 2018 01:24PM) (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Evening all,

I hope you are all well?

Very quick query, does anyone know how to get rid of fleas from bark/sand? It appears the bark we put down around Dexter's sandpit had fleas in it (Excellent I know) and now we don't want to let Dex go anywhere near it, which thrills him as you can imagine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I’ve no experience with fleas but I would have thought pouring boiling water over it would do for them!

Evening all! Up to my eyeballs atm. Pretty exhausted

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Thats a good suggestion it’s not toxic either for residue. I was going to say you can get household flea spray for carpets etc. That’s safe afterwards for pets and people but are they really fleas or flea beetles. I’ve got those in my garden under stones and they jump like fleas. The sparrows love them.

message 6587: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Zodiac household flea spray is the business. Can thoroughly recommend after we moved into a house where there had been a pet but we didn’t have one. Friends dog came for a night and billions of the little bastards woke up and when the dog went they bit us. Zodiac killed them all. :-)

Cheers

MTM

I'm enjoying doing the ten book challenge on Facebook but it's really hard choosing which books!

Also have a thumping headache. Probably the change in the air pressure. Hoping coffee will sort it out.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! (Is it still?)
Fine and dandy here again, though there's forecast the possibility of a shower later - or tomorrow - or not. Talk about covering your ars... bottom!

Glut of raspberries is making me consider a bottle of vodka. Raspberry vodka is gorgeous on its own but made into a long drink with elderflower presse - it's a blimmin delight! Summer in a glass.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12599 comments Sciatica got really bad when I had to help on reception yesterday, so was in that much pain I was feeling sick, so ended up going to bed early. Woke up at 3am burning up, pain much better this morning, still can’t bend my toes and both feet painful. Quiet day in the office at least, there will only be 2 of us this afternoon! Got home last night to find an appointment for my follow up podiatry appointment, quickest appointment letter I’ve had so far! Not sure whether to wait till then if I still can’t bend my toes.
