Really good news about Oli Lynne - let's hope Mum can get herself back to wellness soon.

So not looking forward to getting up and driving to Derby for 9 am on Saturday.
(Edit: Except for the fact i'll spend the day chatting with Jim, of course)

It sounds like an "above and beyond" act of self restraint, to have just said what he could do with it and where it should end up!!! You must be on chill pills!!!

I think that iPad was going in the place he deserved it, Lynne!
I've just mentioned my free book in suitable places - I hope I actually put the link in, as things are jolly hectic here - I'll go back and check!
See you tomorrow x

Best thoughts, of course!
Lynne, I wouldn't have said it, I'd have placed it.

Jealous of your chatting with Jim day!

Jim has to go down the day before because of time/distance etc
Jim goes to station today.
Because I'm 'one of their regulars' (the lass behind the counter recognises me so that makes me one of the special ones!) she told me not to buy a ticket today because if it rains again there might not be any service at all.
At the moment they're taking them to Grange, abandoning them on the platform in the hope that a bus will eventually come along to take them to Lancaster to join the main line
This means a 1hr journey can take 2 hrs even if you get the first bus
But if it rains overnight even that might break down so it might be Jim driving tomorrow, if I can make it to the M6

As I packed books into my rucksack and wearing my rucksack to carry it down stairs, my daughter did ask had I given up on the whole transport thing and just decided to walk
Had I a string of friends with spare floors at fifteen mile intervals between here and Derby it might have been a tempting option ;-
Oh and the waist belt of my rucksack still fits me and is on the same setting I had it on in 1982 :-)

Sorry i haven't been around much. It seems my company are in the process of slowly screwing me over. They have moved my reporting line to someone on the same level as me without moving them up a level. Can't see that as anything but a demotion. Now just waiting to see what happens with this change. Oh and to add to the insult my new "manager" hasn't even contacted me yet!
So yeah, great news for me.
I hope everyone is better than me at the moment.

dump away, that's what we're for.
On the other hand, if your new manager doesn't contact you it's there fault if you're not doing the right thing :-)

Sunny this morning - which was a relief after the deluge yesterday - went out for a walk, and discovered my own personal cloud :(

Don't be daft, we are here for good and bad. Sorry that the new job isn't going well. Good luck with travelling tomorrow Jim.
I had a rubbish afternoon at work, same colleague as the rest of the week and had to stand up to him again. Feel really drained this evening and ordered the wrong inhaler, just hope I remember when I go for my flu jab in the morning. On the plus side, this weekend's fundraiser has been cancelled

Glad to hear it seems to have gone well, good luck for her recovery

wish her all the best from us

thanks for that.
We'll send the boys round to deal with your colleague :-)

Kath - glad that the worst is over for your DiL - all good wishes for the recovery from the op to be speedy and sure.

So glad we could be of some help

Thanks Jim! :)

Sounds like a good day to me

Glad you enjoyed it, hope you've had a good thanksgiving :-)

Thanks Jim! :) ..."
If a group like this cannot provide a bit of support and help folk to vent, it's not much use ;-)

Strikes me as the perfect day. Would that 323.1 million had decided to do it ;-)

Lindsay, hope things get more peaceful for you and yours.

I reached the end wondering how long until the next one. I know they take time, but...

Lindsay, organisations make such crappy decisions that make no sense and simply demotivate people. Hope it all comes out in the wash but it is rubbish to go through right now. You have a lovely family and that makes up for so much of life's rubbish.
Kath, sending good wishes and positive vibes to the DIL for speedy recovery.
Alicia, read your blog. WOW You are certainly a detail girl. Good on you.

Ineffective leadership is maddening and causes so much strife.
Our school is going through much the same thing, so I can empathise.
It's shocking when leaders don't realise that their actions can lead to the downfall of an entire community.
Let's hope they see the errors before it's too late.

Feedback from our mocks today and then the real things on Monday. Had a chat with my tutor yesterday who seemed to be fairly happy with the one he ran (it's 7 10 minute practical exams to check we're safe to be released on the road!) which I'm pleased with, although I'll find out more today. Apparently I made up a little part of the scenario myself, well if you give me a bunch of imaginary firefighters and police on scene, I'm going to put them to use!!Might have found the area I want to focus on once I'm qualified (because I'm absolutely running before I can walk here!!).
And I have my first 9 shifts... all nights!! Just waiting for Christmas week to be released now so I can get planning!

And that kind of thing can be awful, Lindsay, especially when you've got the kind of workplace who won't be upfront about it. Hope iot improves soon.

congratulations

So glad you did well Claire

Lindsay - dump away! There are few things worse in this life than a rubbish boss. I've had a few, although not in the biblical sense.
At this stage, it could still be okay, Nothing really awful seems to have happened yet, so it is possible that you might be frightened by things that aren't as bad as they seem. Fingers crossed that it works out for you!
Good morning all.

That's good news, Kath. I hope it's a speedy recovery from here on in!
Lindsay, that sucks! I wonder if your new 'manager' is a bit underwhelmed by their sideways promotion, which is why they haven't contacted you yet? Either way, it's not a great feeling. I hope things work out for you.
Well, the morning bell's about to go, so I'd better go and grab a coffee before the onslaught ...

Maintenance were here earlier and finally replaced the electrics box they broke weeks ago.
Flimsy piece of plastic shite.

They've decided to run them again now the water level has fallen :-)

DiL doing well. Up on crutches already - mind you, since that initial break, she's become an expert. Still in lots of pain but hearing about what they did - cut a window in the bone to remove infection - I'm not surprised. Onward and upward now.
My day feels trivial in comparison.
