Well, Worcester is lovely. Gorgeous cathedral and a thriving pedestrianised town centre. And our B&B is charming.
I'm going to enjoy exploring it more tomorrow morning while Dave is busy with his appt.
My memory of Worcester is of sitting outside a pub in the sun drinking beer watching the shoppers stroll past. 😀

sounds like an author's version of 'but you should have seen the one that got away' :-)
Evening all.Beautiful evening, as it was a beautiful day, weather wise. However, I'm just relaxing with a glass of Pinot (Grigiot) as a treat for surviving the filling of a broken tooth and the inevitable local anaesthetic. Dinner tonight was a scrambled egg and cheese sandwich.. Fortunately himself was happy with an M&S ready meal.
I've finally posted a picture of the yucca on FB but GR through my mobile refused to accept my email and password. Go figure.

Well!! I just spat my mouthful of tea out. Thank goodness it missed the laptop!
Well something to look forward to. I've booked a break in Liverpool - staying at the Adelphi Hotel - bed, breakfast and evening meal with the Beatles tour and the Terracotta Army tour thrown in - 5 days £259 - well chuffed.

First owners of the house; after all the trouble you're having, glad we're a young country. There was nothing here before this house, nothing of a substantial built nature, anyway.

Hmm, my phone is acting up with GR, keeps taking me to the mobile site! Fortunately cooler, cat room only 25.5! Will post more laterGlad you are enjoying Worcester Patti, hope you enjoy your trip to Liverpool Flo. Sorry you are still arguing over things for the house Will

Sounds great

To put it into perspective: if the current shower in government hadn't messed about with the rules, k would now be drawing her state old age pension. When these alterations were done, we were still teenagers...
M.T. wrote: "Royal Worcester porcelain, quite famous don’tcha know."Almost as famous as Philip Serrell (except I'm guessing how to spell his surname...)
Morning everyone.
The sun seems to be just venturing through the clouds and no appointments today - hospital, medical or dental. Whoopee do!
Will, so what happens if it's really impossible to get the solicitors questions answered? Unreasonable doesn't seem to begin to describe the situation.
I especially like the sound of the Terracotta Army part of your trip, Flo. I hadn't realised part of it was still in the UK.
Have you sold your house yet, Alicia?
Right, off to sort himself's pension paperwork - one of the things he'd rather not tackle, but there is a deadline. Hey ho.
MorningWe've booked flights to Aberdeen in August. I'm so excited to go back and see people.
Our weather has cooled down a lot but it is still lovely.
Well, came home last night to a second hole on the street, bigger than the first! They think they fixed the initial problem, but the person whose house they dug in front of for the second hole was out and we couldn’t get hold of him, so they had to leave his electricity off, he got back at 9.30, so did hear the Electricity North West men back at 11! Not sure when they are planning on filling said holes in, as they haven’t filled in the one at the top of the street they dug up on Wed yet! New colleague seems nice, unfortunately for the first time in the 8 years we’ve been in our building, I have someone sat close enough to see if I’m using my phone. Attempt number 2 at the vets tonight.
Will wrote: "The incessant, querulous demands for paperwork over things that happened 30 years before ..."There is always an alternative - you are not a time traveller. Unfortunately, the alternative is often the most expensive option - trust the government for that!
Here, title companies take up the slack. They charge a fee for searching the title back as far as records go, and are a form of insurance in case they make a mistake and certify a title which isn't actually clear. I'm sure they rarely have to pay out, but it takes the responsibility off your shoulders and allows the current house sale to go on to closing.
Elizabeth wrote: "Have you sold your house yet, Alicia?..."Possibly, though I'd hate to jinx it by thinking of it as finished when there are two more hurdles (excluding Acts of God and disasters happening in the near future): the buyers' mortgage commitment has to hold, and the inspectors can't find anything major wrong with the house we've lived in relatively problem-free for 37 years. Our lawyer insisted on language in the contract which allows us to attempt to remediate any problems, rather than the buyers automatically having the option to cancel. Worth his fee.
I hope they actually want it. Questions about the solar panel system seem to have been important, and we have provided an impressive amount of data.
I thought they'd negotiate longer on price, but I have an idea the wife put her foot down and told her husband to stop the pissing contest. (My husband thought the other guy was enjoying "the game.") Dunno for sure, and will never find out, but that's how it played out in my mind. They were really beginning to annoy. I was hoping another buyer would come along and offer a better deal.
Meh. Second - and last - home selling experience of my life. Previous one I sold myself. Must take notes for fiction.
Elizabeth wrote: "off to sort himself's pension paperwork - one of the things he'd rather not tackle, but there is a deadline....)"Deadlines are annoying. You'd think they wouldn't care when you start collecting.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Well, came home last night to a second hole on the street, bigger than the first! Sounds like you're going to have a mess for a while, and less than beautiful repairs forever.
We developed a sinkhole in the street at the curb suspiciously on the line between the For Sale sign, the street, and the house, and I suspect it is possible they nicked the water line into the house. The sign people (lovely - they have the legal liability) are supposed to inform the utility companies (water, sewer, cable, phone, and gas and electric), who are supposed to come out and leave a forest of little flags and splashes of paint on the lawn and bushes to show where the lines are, so the sign isn't planted there - and not one of those companies marked our property. They all came when we had the surveyors out two months ago.
Suspicious. I informed the agent, who will follow up as soon as the township decides why we have a sinkhole. Fortunately (?) it happened after the Open House. They will dig, and will leave an ugly patch in the road.

I had an idiot along who opened with a stupid offer, then kept increasing it in tiny increments. I was so pleased tp tell him that I'd sold it to someone who was less insulting.
Sorry you also have hole problems Alicia, good luck with the house. Got offered 3 months Kindle Unlimited today, thought it would be rude to turn down.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Dave keeps falling asleep. Next time he does, I'm shutting the tv off."Guaranteed to make him wake up and say, ‘I was watching that,’ before falling straight back to sleep and staying asleep except when you turn off or change channel. This is some rare psychic ability in TV watching men.

Less insulting is nice. It depends on how desperate you are; my SIL sold my FIL's two houses off to the ONLY bidder for a lot less than what FIL wanted for them. But if I told you all the details, you'd agree she did the right thing - it was costing him a lot to keep those houses, and he wasn't marketing, and he wasn't young enough to make the repairs... Sadly, the world changed a lot during his lifetime, and he didn't make adjustments very well in the end. Sweet, quiet man - but his ideas were getting rapidly out of date.
Which is why I am nagging so hard to get us moved and not responsible for a house while we're still young enough to make our own decisions - and even now, it's been a gigantic amount of work.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Sorry you also have hole problems Alicia, good luck with the house. Got offered 3 months Kindle Unlimited today, thought it would be rude to turn down."Enjoy reading lots - I like being in KU. It keeps you honest: you only get paid as a writer if people actually read.

We got a request for a showing, and my agent turned it down because our contract is through attorney review. I know that's what you're supposed to do, but what if...?
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Dave keeps falling asleep. Next time he does, I'm shutting the tv off."I just leave the room, and him peacefully sleeping (his chair is comfy). He likes sitting up a while after dinner, and I usually have other things to do.
If he snores, I poke him.
Depends on whether there is something else you want to see, or if you have somewhere else you can go. It is going to be difficult in a one-bedroom apartment, so I hope that phase doesn't last too long, except that a bigger one freeing up means someone is moving on... Feeling a bit ghoulish.
Good morning!Gotta say it's nice to wake up in one's own bed. We were only away three nights. I'm surprised at myself. Lord knows we've spent much longer than that living out of a backpack.
All depends on your state of mind, I guess.
The flat has cooled down considerably, thank goodness.
It's a tip, though. Gotta give it a good clean today.
We're told our stuff from Baku should be arriving in London today, which means it should be here very soon.
Gotta make sure there's a place to put it.
I'm hoping they didn't jumble the stuff up too much and I'll only have to open a couple of boxes to get to the stuff we need for Myanmar.
Morning, all. Things have cooled down here and it's gone all grey.I'm slightly worried about rush hour tonight.
Benjamin wrote: "Morning, all. Things have cooled down here and it's gone all grey.I'm slightly worried about rush hour tonight."
I'm thinking that my gym class tonight could be a bit quiet.
Morning.
Hot again outside.
Cold as usual at work.
Morning! Went with the natural history gang for a walk last night. Absolutely balmy evening and lots of plants to see. Don't know what I'll be doing tonight but it won't include footie watching!
Morning! We actually have rain today! It's quite well timed with it being the 11th night so everything will be nice and damp and less likely to burn.
It's still quite muggy but the cooler air is still a relief.
In other news, I'm going to start trying to sell kids clothes on Facebook! Eeep!
Driving home last night I could see smoke on the hills, not sure how bad it is, but the radio said the road was still closed this morning. Unfortunately the nearest reservoir is really low due to all the heat and its another moorland area. Lucy tried hiding behind the TV, but got her to the vet, she has gained weight, but we still took blood, her calcium is fine and just waiting for an SDMA result, so looking like the eating is weather related and behaviour is feliway related. She did lots of growling, but nothing more, and let me give her cuddles while the vet was running the test. I am getting a bit caught up with football, I did enjoy watching some footage from 1990, as I’m too young to remember that. Been discharged from ophthalmology, she didn't seem concerned when I said I do still have a bit of sensitivity with bright lights as it goes into my cheek, and then the builder is coming after work to discuss the enclosure, he may be able to start doing it before the weekend.
Kath wrote: "Patti/Rosie - we've got someone on general chat who needs deleting - with a big hammer!"Sorted.
At first I thought it was trying to sell something, but it seems it was just a barely comprehensible blog post.
Spam either way.
Uhoh.I'd have to look again if you want me o discuss them by name.
Didn't realise there ma be a quiz. ;)
My iPad I driving me nuts. The keyboard has suddenly developed a mind o its own.
Trying to get myself psyched up for the task of the day: sorting through my writing stuff from all these years, deciding what gets to go to the retirement place (small) and what will have to go to the recycling after me saving it forever. It will have to be packed into boxes, and marked 'To California.' It's not that easy to decide you'll never want to look at something again.

The incessant, querulous demands for paperwork over things that happened 30 years before I bought the house are driving me insane.
