Thanks everyone.Ally has worked so hard and had to deal with a lot while i went through my change of jobs i just want to do something nice for her but she is so practical it is hard to think of things.
Dave's father's apartment was stifling! He had all the windows shut. Good grief.Got them all open now and I've made him dig out a fan.
I'm surprised he's not roasted himself.
Amazingly hot here too, we’ve finally lost that snell east wind. I’m near into a greasy spot :)Nothing that cooking home made pizza in a boiling hot oven won’t cure #poormenuchoices
I watched the last 10 mins of the game, am very happy. Didn't come home with a microwave, wonder if they get included in prime day? When I went to Pets at Home I realised our donation bin was full, so had to empty that too, some stuff the fosters can eat, so didn't have to buy them as much food.
Blimey it was proper muggy here as well as hot. There was no near into it for me. I was a greasy spot. Cut the box hedge along the side of our veg patch. Bollocks I got hot. At least it means I’ve done a bit of exercise though.
Ooo forgot to say, done the blog too. Just finished a short so I’ve posted about that and linked to an excerpt if anyone’s interested: https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2018/07/07/wr...
I heard some shouting earlier, I gather it was "the game". I was too busy working. Went to the pictures after - they have air conditioning.

Watch him for dehydration. It creeps up on older people.
Yes, I had a stern conversation with him about that, Alicia.Poor Dave has to wear a suit today.
I'll have to get it cleaned next week.
Morning everyone.Sitting here yawning, but couldn't sleep.
Lindsay, you're a star for thinking of things for Ally. (I'd be overwhelmed with a bunch of flowers, personally.)
Hi Flo xxx

it's a good one :-)
Good morning all. Agree with Benjamin that it's all a bit too much with this heat. I know it's a good excuse for Pimms and/or lager, but can we turn it down just a little bit please?
Morning all, woke up early and thought 'wow, no pain' - then turned over and my 'good' foot was painful to lie on and I have a headache, although as its so warm and sticky already think I just need to drink. Glad I have been able to get up early and feel OK, should be able to get all the admin and housework done, so this afternoon I can just sit outside and read. How sweet of you Lindsay
Good morning all. The water is like a pond again, it’s another glorious day. Grand Prix later so he’ll be happy. It’s the thought that counts Lindsay, as Elizabeth said she’d be happy with flowers. Tell her how much she’s appreciated.
Have a good day all.
Lindsay, be guided by the wise words of Tallis Steelyard in this matter :-)She began to wonder just where her husband’s money came from. Now it seems she had no doubts about his marital fidelity. She had kept an eye on him, and his behaviour never gave cause for concern. He was never overly solicitous of her; he never spontaneously brought her flowers. He rarely remembered their wedding anniversary. He acted in all ways like a man with a clear conscience.
(It's from 'The dark secret of Kasar Phloom.' over on the Tallis Steelyard blog)
Morning each! Patti - if I look out of my writing room window I can see cows (Belted Galloways) and sheep (Jacob's and Lleyn - and a chicken! But I have tea.Just mentioned on Facebook last night's organ recital in the village church. We had a world premiere - the piece was finished last week!
Asked Dave's father last night if he needed his shirt ironed for today. Oh, no, it's all sorted.
Shall I have a look? I've got to do Dave's, no problem doing another.
Oh no, it's all sorted.
Asked again this morning.
Oh no, it's all sorted.
Just told Dave to have a look to be sure.
Big orange stain down the front. Sigh.
They've just gone out to buy him a new shirt.
Only gotta be there in two hours.

Shucks. Thank you :-)
That reminded me so much of my Dad at my mother’s funeral. He used to be so smart and well turned out. He was all ready to go suited and booted and I noticed his shoes really covered in dust. That would never have happened in the past, I said Dad your shoes need a polish, he said he’d do it. He did, he rubbed each one down the back of his trouser legs. I’ll never forget that, you don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Talking of Dads ... this morning at church there was a hymn we had at our wedding. McOther is an atheist and doesn’t really do hymns but my parents and I aren’t. So there we are, Dad’s just walked me down the aisle and hymn starts and it’s one of our favourites, and the choir is singing and Dad and I have a who-can-belt-out-this-one-the-loudest competition. I’ll raise your loud singing, choir with some of my own.
And I’ll raise your loud singing father, with some even louder singing.
Pah! I’ll raise your loud singing, and you choir.
Oh yeh? I’ll take your ear damaging sound and make it THIS LOUD!
I’ll raise your THIS LOUD!
Fuck me I didn’t know I could sing as mightily as this! That’s right! Look at us in a funny way, choir for we are making a fuck of a lot of noise. Etc.
I nearly cried this morning. Which is a bit pathetic, especially as it is detrimental to singing hymns extremely loudly which my father would have wanted me to do.
Sorry, dunno why I decided to tell you that.
Cheers

want to sell some books whilst you're at it :-)
Was so stuffy in the house this morning I couldn't muster up much energy to do housework, then my neighbour persuaded me to go out for late breakfast. When we came back there were some grey clouds and it went quite cool, but then they went and it was so hot I had to stop sitting outside! Shame as I'm really enjoying my book. Lovely tale MT. Glad you have had a good day sale wise R.

Mary, I love you. I was just about to type out a bunch of reasons why but I'm not gonna bother.
I'm just gonna sit here basking in loving you. So there.
You rock.

Strangely, Jim, you’re not the first person who has said that.
Everyone: Bless you all, thanks. You should meet my son, he does McMini so much better than I do Mary. Then again, I’m beginning to think that’s the way my Dad might have felt. And my Mum. Perhaps that’s part of the joy of parenting.
Cheers

I spent three hours this afternoon sat (yes, SAT!) at a table worrying about how I was holding my knife.Nawwwwww, I spent about 15 seconds looking at the ridiculous table setting, then got all Canadian.
Dave's nephew's aunt's cousin's daughter taught three tables how to whistle through their fingers.
I'm such an instigator. :)
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Strangely, Jim.Hmmmmmm
Yeah, that's why I love him as well. ;)"
Yep. That’s why we all love Jim.

Nah, piece of cake. You just start with the cutlery on the outside and work in. Love the whistling. Wish I’d been there, have tried for years but still can’t do that!
Just typed a ripper of a blog post. Browser went funny, thought, shall I copy the text before I save? Nah. Restarted browser and of course the whole fucking lot had disappeared. Never mind, I expect I’ll manage to re do it.

Ah ... time iff sounds nice Benjamin.Jim - amazingly, WordPress had saved it so although the browser had lost it WordPress hadn't. Of course now I look at it, it's not that good. Mwahhahaaargh.
Another scorchio day here bt the feel of things.
Morning all.
Good morning!Another gorgeous day here, too.
Off to Worcester in a few hours. Never been there before.
I'm hoping it'll be nice.
Morning, feels a little bit cooler this morning, and a little bit less close.Passed all of my first year assignments, got a few weeks until you round off first year and start second. Not many more shifts left until I can start doing a few more things!!
Morning all, we ended up with Electricity North West again, first saw them at 3.30, took till 9.00 before they started digging. Still barriers round so not sure what I'll come home to, and have to feed myself tonight. Not as warm fortunately. Got a new colleague starting today and need to catch up from Fri
Morning,It's so much cooler here at the minute, although more muggy but it's a relief.
Lindsay, get Ally a coffee shop voucher and leave her off in town for a few hours without Dexter so she can have a coffee and read, or sit glued to FB on her phone or wander around aimlessly doing nothing much. That is the stuff of dreams.
Sounds like a successful wedding, Patti!
I’m not complaining, just saying, noise here this morning was really bad. Builders doing an extension next door but one, neighbour next door other side having his new garage finished and disc cutting so really dusty nd noisy. Then the estate agent turns up to empty house next or and didn’t know there’s a burglar alarm. My pair of dogs joined in with angry barking. Ear plugs please?Don’t think the visit for the house went too well either.
Would it be considered cheating if I added children's books to my read list? I discovered that the DisneyLife app has audiobooks on it! Worked a treat on a very upset Kitty last night in the car on the way home. Poor thing ran into a chair and has a fat lip.

Oh bless her, I hope she’s feeling better today.
Claire, I can’t find your post to reply to but well done!
