does East Yorkshire actually have any pinnacles? :-)"

The Humber Bridge has a decent view. For a flat place.

You didn't take the opportunity to get a new one?

Patti’s face??

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Bloomin sun never made it through the haar today :(

Daughter has done out to “boxercise”. Told her I am hoping she won’t be coming home with a cauliflower ear

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Just can’t decide whether to buy tickets for Bobby Velvet & The Alpacas or not. It’s a show during Fringe by the Sea - apparently the alpacas (therapy pets Rory and Pearsn) bray and hum along to his crooning...

How bad could it be?

message 6058: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I could do with a new face. Had to get passport photos taken for stuff. Shocking photos.

Good grief.

The things people pay money for.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Oh passport photos. My speciality is the Myra Hindley lookeelikee. Although I also do a mean Wendolene Ramsbottom from Wallace and Gromit

I have sometimes wondered whether to try boxercise but at the moment it is not at a suitable time. It sounds just like taking my current fight class one step further and actually hitting something.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments First up am I?

Good morning!

Lovely and cool at the moment. Wish the seagulls would shut up.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning, I was up too. Seagulls are noisy buggers though, aren't they.

According to long term outlook we're stuck with this to the middle of July

message 6069: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning. Finally cooled down here as well, but one of the cats has gone missing again.

message 6070: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's probably found somewhere cool to spend the day. It'll turn up when it gets hungry.

Dave's gone off for the day, so I'm going to sort clothes into climate piles.

Think I'll be doing some donation bags, too.

My lovely in laws keep giving us stuff we have no use for. Wish Dave would just say no!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, I’m going to clean the front garden before it gets too warm. Got loads of bluebells gone to seed and I didn’t want to move them until they had but they do look a mess. Carnival next weekend and they pass by so I’d better make an effort to be ‘tidy’

Ha! That's so Canadian of you!

Everyone back home makes a huge effort to tidy their gardens for the Canada Day parades. Which will be happening all over Canada tomorrow!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Well, no lie in today, made the mistake of not feeding the cats when I tried to get back to sleep at 7, so Lucy thought I should get up at 8. Got the dentist at 11.55 (?), food shopping on the way home and having a nightmare with a fundraiser, someone has dropped out leaving someone on there own so I may need to pop over (well, its a 30 mile round trip!). Luckily most of this weeks housework is washing, so should get to enjoy some sun, which might just be what my foot and leg need.

message 6075: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Patti, Desley - the doc isn't sure what is wrong with my hand. It has ached on and off for ages but is getting unbearable now. I can't type for too long so will have to use the Dragon Naturally Speaking software. It is good but sometimes it just doesn't "get" my Scottish accent!
Dull, bleak and very windy today...

message 6076: by Desley (Cat fosterer) (last edited Jun 30, 2018 03:31AM) (new)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Fingers crossed they figure it out soon. I got excited when I got home yesterday to an appointment letter, but it was the ophthalmology one I made on the phone, still waiting for the one for my injection.

Forgot to say, my main aim for the weekend is to finish my book

message 6077: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hmm. Wonder if you've got thingy, Kelly. Can't remember what it's called. Both my mom and my brother needed surgery on their wrists to sort it. They had terrible pain in their hands.

I've not picked my kindle up yet today.

On the plus side, our new principal sent us great info on the coffee in Myanmar a few minutes ago. :D

You should tell them what pleasure it gives you to find places to donate their kind gifts.

message 6081: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh that's brilliant! I'm gonna use that!

message 6082: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments I'm sure it originally came from Miss Manners, but it is a polite way to get the idea across. Hope it's useful.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Well, day did not go as planned, I don't know why I am even surprised at that anymore! Neighbour found a pet shop that sold her litter cheaper than the last shop, only it was 25 miles away, so she waited till I got back from the dentist and food shopping so I could go, but I actually came back with nothing, although they gave my neighbour some freebies which she shared with me. Did get a drink from Costa for the drive back though, and we found an M & S food hall so got some food. Done 3 loads of washing, though the house looks just as bad as this morning, but we have put the last of the stuff up for the foster cats. Very tired now.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave got home a bit ago and immediately put stupid football on the telly.

Sheesh.

message 6085: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Patti and Lynne, yes, the doc did mention carpal tunnel, or maybe something like calcification(!) of the bones. He also said I tested negative for gout but with underlying something or other related to it!!! and I need to go and see him again next week.

The weather brightened up and we had a lovely barbeque - the in-laws came round and brought salad and potatoes, husband cooked. Night off for me. The damn daddy seagull who lives with his wife and twins on our roof had the cheek to, bold as brass, pinch a piece of steak when my husband's back was turned. Really?!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Fingers crossed its not calcification!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments There’s a very aggressive seagull near us, he or she is OK if you keep walking but if you have to stop to poop scoop after the dogs it swoops down and screams. It’s quite scary.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all! Another lovely one, looks like the haar has been seen off for the moment.

There's always some idiot feeding the gulls. Years ago when I worked in the deli someone used to come in and buy a couple of our artisan baker's rolls to take down to the beach. I told I thought that was a stupid thing to do, he said they were hungry...

message 6089: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments People can be so silly.

Good morning!

I've been up for ages, answering emails.
I seemed to spend half the night looking for teaching resources. Hand puppets! Where are the hand puppets?!

It's quite amazing how one's subconscious prepares one for new challenges.

Gotta sort through and organise documents today. They were organised. Then Dave looked for something...

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Well, Lucy woke me up at 5.55 for breakfast this morning!! I'm hoping I can get a nap in, then got a bit of housework, then my aim is to finish my book in the sun this afternoon. Sunny and warm already. Sadly the Winter hill fire has spread and been declared a major incident, so in that respect I wish we could have rain, think it said 6sq km has been destroyed now

message 6091: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Weather seems to have finally cooled down a bit, so it's been easier to sleep.
Cat's still missing, though - I'm worried about him.

In the high street near my office the other day, someone tried to feed some scraps to a lone herring gull and the entire local gull population appeared at once - there were at least a dozen of them screaming at each other in the middle of the pavement. I saw people running for cover.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Sorry your cat is still missing Benjamin - have you checked neighbours sheds/garages, common place to get shut in at this time of year?

None of them have garages, but I'm planning to check what corners I can!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments just opposite our house some idiot was sitting parked in his car chucking chips out into the road, if he’d got out and thrown them the other side onto the grass embankment it would have been more sensible. I was in the front garden and the noise when a passing car hit a flying one was impressive, so was his smashed windscreen. We keep a sprayer filled with plain water for cleaning bird cack off the windows.
Slightly cloudier here today. Hope they get those wildfires under control quickly.
Hope you find your cat Benjamin. Have a good day all.

message 6095: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Documents organised, wardrobe tidied, stuff for printing flagged in email, two loads of laundry drying.

Gonna make us our first bacon breakfast of the holiday, then I'd like to flop with my kindle.
Need some food for dinner tonight, though. Should probably hit the supermarket before I flop or it won't happen.

Hope the cat turns up soon, Benjamin. Let us know when it does.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12598 comments Well, didn't get back to sleep, someone at the end of the street decided 9am was the time to start banging panels of wood! 4th washload of the weekend on though. Lets hope I don't snooze on the sun lounger. Feet are really sore today

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Lovely and sunny here, McOther is away bunburying and McMini and I are building models. It’s like the three stooges, you should see how much paint we’ve spilled between us. Oops. Never mind. Managed to bash out a blog post yesterday morning, go to a forces day event in our local park and even did some writing last night, just coming to the end of another 10k K’Barthan short. Woot. It won’t work for the anthology I wrote it for though, not without adding too much information for a thing that short.

Lovely and sunny here, enjoy your days everyone.

Cheers

MTM
