Years ago - about 20 - we were in Bangkok for a couple of days before getting on a small plane to Koh Samui. My ears were blocked after the flight from London and I couldn't hear a damn thing, plus was worried that I was going to be on a small plane and concerned about popping eardrums. Anyhoo, we ended up at the main Bangkok Hospital. Couldn't believe how up-to-date it was with whizzy equipment and some top-of-the-range ear syringing thing. We had to pay but it was only a few pounds.

Except for the gel, yes?"
The gel I use for something else, I've probably got metatarsal issues and the gel seems to deal with that. (Perhaps it's now healing by itself or whatever they do)
The stretches worked fine for the plantar thingy
I do two,
"Place the ball of your foot on the edge of the step and relax your heel downwards. This will stretch your fascia and your calf. Hold for 30 seconds and do it 3 times."
Stretch your calves
Stand an arm's length from a wall.
Place your right foot behind your left.
Slowly and gently bend your left leg forward.
Keep your right knee straight and your right heel on the ground.
Hold the stretch for 15 to 30 seconds and release. ...
Reverse the position of your legs, and repeat.

I’m glad I’m not in France at the moment. Monday a camp of gens de voyage, travellers were moved on from the riverside near Nice airport. They purposely blocked the main A 8 motorway which is the busiest in the south of France and caused chaos with their caravans. They were moved next day and blocked the roads near Cannes. The prefect has given permission for them to have 10days in our village on the Grand Pré. My pal said 125 caravans were blocking the roads. The mayor and all his list have resigned en masse. He refuses to have responsibility for hygiene, water etc for them, sounds like fun and games. Putting 200 travellers (locals said there were a lot more than 200 ) in a village of 120O people is not very clever.

I've been up for ages. On my second coffee! I admit I did go to bed ridiculously early. Took my kindle to bed to get away from the football, n all.
I probably shouldn't comment on the traveller situation as I'm woefully uninformed (get ready for the but) but as its a culture that's survived for hundreds of years, you'd think acceptance and understanding would have happened by now. On both sides, I mean.
Anyway...
Yeah, Kelly, the medical care in Bangkok is really good. Imagine how it's further improved in the past 20 years. Our new job includes excellent health insurance, from what I've been able to glean about it online. A rep will be giving us full information about it during our induction, we're told. It can't help but be a vast improvement on the insurance we had in Baku. I've friends there who have been fighting for various reimbursements for over a year. One friend went to management to explain that she was losing 5-10 hours a WEEK of planning/teaching time due to having to deal with the insurers. Didn't make any difference, of course.

Thanks Jim.
I've had Dave against the wall frequently over the past few weeks.
I've found another that seems to work is having him put the ball of his foot on the edge of the coffee table and press his heel away from him. I'd never noticed how he usually points his toes forward when he's at rest. I'm sure he's enjoying my nagging.

Still lovely and warm here. I'm sure I've never experienced so many fine days in a row in Wales before. I'm sure we'll pay for it...

I've had a couple of clients with plantar fasciiitis, Patti, and it always sounds painful - hope Dave's feels better soon.

It’s cloudy here today but this summer has been amazing, even if it stops now, we’ve still had one. Presumably it will start to rain soon as the schools are about to break up.

We've got eye exams this morning, then Dave wants to go shoe shopping again. Blergh.
He also wants to go out for lunch, so there's that.

Sun is out but I will be trapped in the office all day. Have to go to a work thing tonight - a wine tasting. Not really my kind of thing. I like drinking the stuff, not talking about it!
Happy hump day.

It is roasting here already, it is like south of France temperatures. I wish I had taken today off work, I have no meetings so I could have. Maybe I'll skip out early instead.

Book Group tonight. All go - but pleasant go!

Has someone given you exercises for the sciatica that you can do prophylactically and when it hits? I do them daily - I often wake up with everything out of alignment.

It's gone! And another who was chancing it :)

We both ordered new glasses. Frikkin varifocals. I suppose I'm officially old now.
I didn't think I needed reading glasses yet, but the optometrist proved me wrong.
We also both bought shoes. Well, sandals. I needed a smart pair for work in Myanmar. Found some that should last. I hope.
Then a ploughman's and a small cider in the sun.
Lovely day.
I need a nap now.

Just need to wear them nonstop until your brain adjusts.
I just woke up. Hope I sleep tonight.

Yes, whether I am remembering them correctly is a different matter! Unfortunately mine is chronic and can flare up over simple things like a hard chair! Coped with my shoes, very relieved to get my padded shoes back on, most of us had two pairs of shoes! Was very hot and got a bad throat, every so often the wind direction would change and you could smell the fire from the moors! Also got a headache, mustn't have drank enough flavoured water, the cucumber one was great

It certainly is, might try doing some stretches when I wake up

Did I miss something. Patti? Are you going to Cyprus or Myanmar to work?

There's coffee in the pot, if you fancy.
Still clear blue sky here.
I bet people who booked their summer sun holiday abroad for this week are pissed off. I would be.
Dental appointments today. Dave's having a check up and cleaning but they could only fit me in for a checkup.
I expect I need a filling, so I'll have to book a second appt for that and a cleaning. I hope they can get me in before we leave.

Dexter thought i needed an early morning start today. Personally i think 4am was taking the piss but apparently I was wrong!

I'm gonna find myself unexpectedly in Worcester on the 10th.
Anyone in the area wanna meet for a coffee in the morning?

The sunlight means all of our lot think it's breakfast time at 4am as well.

Yawn.
Morning all.

I was wondering if you were close to the fires
I had my new boiler fitted yesterday so at last i have hot water again.
We were away last week at welshpool, mum enjoyed it and kept talking about it so we are looking into going again. If we can fit it in between hospital appointments and other things. Yesterdays appointment was much quicker than last month as they didn't lose the blood samples this time so we came away at 11 and not 3.
I'm struggling to get going with things because of the heat and this stupid keyboard on the fire doesn't help. It can't spell (so everything takes twice as long to write ) and keeps sticking "th" everytime I press the return key and underlines in red words that are correct but leaves the garbage.
I still haven't mended the sewing machine so the quilt hasn't progressed. The back bedroom is now clear because of the boiler fitting so the new cupboards can be built and the room set up as a craft room. However the front bedroom now has lots of extra boxes that need sorting.
Hops everyone is well.

I agree about typing on the Fire Janet, although the cat forum has auto correct so its a GR issue. Glad the boiler is sorted, good luck getting boxes sorted. Sorry Dex was an extra early alarm clock. I would also be pissed off if I'd booked a hol this week Patti. Good luck at the dentist

OK I will. Next time I'm attempting to post something

Just another thing that doesn't work on GR. And they are changing more - having updated the app for android now. I don't use it at all and prefer the desktop version rather than the mobile whether I'm on tablet or desktop. Apparently people find that navigating around groups difficult on the new app. And unfortunately a lot of people are reading into the replies from GoodReads staff that the mobile version or app is the way that the desktop version is going.
The boxes (and bags) are likely to stay for quite a while as I am finding very little time to do anything apart from work and ferry Mum around to hospital appointments and daycare. I fell asleep watching tv last night and was woken by the sunrise.
Thank goodness for my kindle - I can pick up and put down whenever.
And a couple of energetic fight classes at the gym to imagine I'm punching and kicking someone.

I have a headache threatening to unleash itself on me, I hope I can keep it at bay.
I am loving the weather! It is really putting me in the mood for a holiday though. I took yesterday afternoon off and it was the best decision ever, I filled the paddling pool and got in to it with the kids. We had lots of fun. And it turns out that Kathleen's paints aren't the easiest to wash off. I wish I could have today off too. Work sucks.
I hope your sciatica is better today Desley.
Sorry about the early wake up call Lindsay, Nathan woke at 4.30 but I was able to feed him back to sleep. I just got into bed beside him and woke at 6am.

Dentist managed to shoehorn me in for both a checkup and cleaning.
Back tomorrow for a damn filling.
It's my grinding what does it.

I really do hope the desktop site doesn't go Janet, I always use it regardless of what device I am on. Good luck keeping your headache at by Jud. Glad you were able to take a day off and have fun with the kids.

He is getting better though. I shouldn't have let myself get stuck in the feeding to sleep pattern again.
I hate the dentist, not personally I hate what the dentist does. Mouths are disgusting.
