Spent the morning cleaning and sorting the garage finally. My workshop is nearly operational. Or more accurately i am nearly able to move about and use tools in there without tripping over everything!.
Congrats on Myanmar Patti. Isn't that a bit of a dangerous place? or am i thinking of somewhere else?

Patti to Myanmar (used to be Burma, wasn't it? Or do I have it mixed up with something else?). Check. And Cyprus is no more?
Jim's daughter always wanted an elephant, but it's hard on her other career choices. Check.
Desley's foot is a bit better. Check. Yay!
Lindsay is doing my next task, garage sorting. It is not a fun task. It must be done. Along with basement sorting.
Will's functional.
I've missed a lot, but will catch up.
We are living in a model home. It's a nightmare. Had our first showing Sunday. Worked like a dog to hide everything the previous two days. We haven't even unpacked from vacation in May.
I have no idea where X is, with X standing in for anything. However, my reputation as the family finder continues to be enhanced. Today I found the register covers neither the husband nor the handyman could find. I looked down into a box on the basement floor and the registers registered.

I read it as they are moving there in August, instead of Cyprus

As Alicia, except it was only two days and there were 66 posts waiting to be read!
No, I can't challenge the group triffid - but I will attempt to post a photo when it stops raining. Using a mobile phone to get here requires some thought.
Hope you're nearing the flat, Patti. Must say Myanmar surprises me since I think I remember you raving about holidays in Cyprus. I can understand the food part though.

Mercifully, it may get better for a while, as we wait for a buyer and merely have to keep paring away at the contents of boxes. After that, a move completely across the country. I remember getting from London to Bath in a day when I took the kids. Much more reasonable.

I can't say I envy you. We're looking to move eventually and a road trip of (only!) 10 hours which we will need to take over two days to decide on a property and return and then repeat on the moving day is already giving me logistical nightmares.

Are you going to have to move again some day? If so, remember you'll be even older then. I can't face this again.
I'm so glad the visit part is over - and we found two nice places, chose one, out of the huge amount of energy expended. Otherwise, we would have had to repeat the coast-to-coast plane ride to go see these places some day in the future, instead of being able to move in relatively soon. It's the thing that's kept me going.
I need to be out of a house with stairs. I need to have a pool for the therapeutic value. I need to have the spouse have things to do other than what he has here. And we both need to stop playing house: we don't want to, and it's benefitting no family members.
I wanted to go three years ago. He's taken this long to get on board. He's going to love it (or else).

Cyprus is no more. And I've never been there on holiday. Perhaps you're thinking of Crete.
New job in Myanmar, starting in August.
Yes, used to be Burma. No, there's no war there at the moment.
Yes, it's as safe to live in as Uganda. Safer than Nigeria.
There's been a war going on in Azerbaijan as long as we lived there.
Got in the flat a little bit ago.
My body thinks it's 4am. Which is probably why I'm feeling so wide awake.
I'll tell you about the flight tomorrow. I need to get to bed and hope to sleep now.

I was sat (you're welcome, Darren) next to a gobby little five year old on the flight. Her mother was absolutely useless. She was traveling alone with three little kids and ignored them the whole flight.
Yes, from the school in Baku.
I had to get quite sharp with the little brat. Was nice to have the freedom to do that.
Plane was virtually empty so I shifted to three empty seats and was able to stretch out, which was nice. Have got a terrible neck this morning, though.
M&S at Reading services were still open, thank gawd.
I've got cream for my coffee, yay!

At least we didn't end up in the valleys this time.
Good grief it's muggy here.

chucking it down up here
Not muggy at all
sodden, but not muggy :-)

So you are moving to Myanmar, Patti?
I'm so confused.
My 10k is tonight and my knee has decided to become painful :o( stupid knee

I managed to get out of having to go along to sort bank stuff. We'll go food shopping when Dave finishes that stuff.
I feel rather brain dead.

Morning."
I thought the same - a permanent move's fairly dramatic!

Yes, you are right of course, Patti, Well, Cyprus and Crete both begin with the same letter...
Hope your knee's ok for tonight, Jud.
As to the move, himself needs a place without stairs or with a proper lift, whether internal or external. And I would like to be a bit closer to our generation - especially if the Scion of the House pursues his New Zealand dream. I don't rely on him and have no intention of doing so - mother's love believes he should have a clear horizon.

My 10k is tonight and my knee has decided to become painful :o( stupid knee" Good luck with the 10k Jud. Take care with the knee. Maybe try a couple of pre-run Ibrobrufens to try to pre-empt any swelling?

Try selling the lease on a 350 year old cottage...

Dexter and I have been out in Bury St Edmunds for the morning. We walked through the Abbey Gardens and looked at all the birds in the Aviary. Dexter seems to really like birds at the moment. We then played in the park and stopped to buy him some new books for his bedtime stories.
I am now officially knackered so am sitting not he couch having a coffee!

How are you managing that? Is Dexter asleep?

Sorry you are all over the place at home Alicia, hope it sells quick and you can get moved and settled. Didn’t realise you were getting a pool with the new place, that’ll be a good thing for you. Sorry you had to deal with poorly behaved children on the flight Patti, glad you got some sleep. I thought the holiday reference was us thinking we could go on holiday there to visit you, at least I was looking forward to that!! Sorry you have a bad knee Jud. Good luck arguing with the solicitors Will!! Sounds fun Lindsay

How are you managing that? Is Dexter asleep?"
Nope, i have harnessed the power of the Teletubbies!

Sorry they expect the impossible. Our papers do allow the response "I don't know" - do yours? (To be mentally read as "how the h*ll could I possibly know that?")
I have just finished scanning and sending off documents we have kept since we bought this house 37 years ago - and, since we're the only owners so far, no dark history to figure out before that.
It was still tough to figure out - I've been sick for a great deal of that time, had three kids to rear while husband was working, and was in charge of all the paperwork. I tell the OH: "At least I saved everything."

Me, too. No stairs required, and lots of lifts, in where we chose. Want to come join us in California? It's not muggy.

But think of the history! What a treat.

Doesn't stop, does it, Desley? How you manage to keep functioning as well as you do - all the work you do - amazes me.
Sounds as if you need both the pool and the hot tub.

the oldest records we have for this place go back to about 1620, but there are people who gave it as their address buried under the aisle of a local church in the 1580s
We assume they weren't living in a tent on a building site so it's probably older :-)
Somebody was transported to Australia for trying to inherit it by fraud in the early 18th century
But other than that the paperwork is remarkably vague :-)

Bacon n egg breakfast sandwich, about $5.
Curry n rice, less than $4.
Don't think I'll be cooking there!
