One of the guys I follw om Twitter just tweeted this, and I had to laugh :)"Got off the plane and someone handed me Tim Hortons, said sorry and then gave me a free health checkup. Canada’s weird"
Must have been after passport control. The people who work in passport control are humourless, in my experience.Holiday here and the weather is gorgeous. Nice n cool and not a cloud in the sky. I'm sure it'll hot up later, though.
Jusy bits n bobs to do today. Dave needs to finish editing his reports so I should have time to finish the Stephen King. Which I don't want to end!
We've managed to avoid the thunderstorms, fog and other stuff that others have been having, so it's just hot with enough breeze to move the warm air around :-)
Good morning all. Remind me again why we have bank holidays? Because as far as I can see it's a day when we spend more money which means that the banks have to work a little harder.Everyone have a good one.
Morning all, it's that fog again :(Not a bank holiday here, although the banks are of course closed. Possibly preparing for next month when the RBS is shutting for good. Which will be great for the community *not*
Morning all, overcast here. We had rain for about an hour last night. Left myself a bit of housework to do this morning, might go to the hospital with my neighbour this afternoon. Soles of my feet are sore today and one side of my throat and the other side of my neck!! Never looked at bank holidays that way Will!!
Morning. Off to car dealership. New car arrived while we were on holiday. Predictably.Bit of writing later.
MorningIt was an excellent result for Ireland! Now we just need the eejits who are supposed to be in Stormont but have decided to give themselves a year long holiday on full pay just because they refuse to agree with someone of the other religion... Where was I going with this? Oh yes, now to get Northern Ireland to follow in the footsteps of our enlightened countryfolk. Oh my rip I hate politics here.
We've had beautiful weather here all weekend. I hope it keeps up for a while, it's lovely today. I'm in the office on my own too, might take a wee walk to get a coffee.
How can I tell if I've broken a bone in my foot rather than just bruised it? I can't be bothered going to get an x-ray when it isn't bothering me too much but I want to go running.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Ooh, exciting Kath"It takes more than a car to excite me, Desley. I don't drive. Nowt to do with me!

Being self employed and out of town bank holidays can pass me by unnoticed.
My father used to like wet bank holidays because the roads were quieter :-)
Not because we were ever going anywhere, but because it meant he had children about to help him move livestock and less traffic to worry about when said livestock was being moved
Don't be silly, Jud. You need to get it looked at.You don't want to end up with foot problems for the next 80 years!
Morning - sunny here. Lunch plans cancelled as our friend's little one is sniffling. So can write instead (yee hah!)
Friends visiting the island are coming round for a cuppa later. May end up more rose than Typhoo. (can't do the accent thingie above the e!)
Enjoy your day.
I’ve just had to clear up a lovely sticky mess. Big dog is fascinated by a can of concentrated mint syrup. I heard him clanging it in the kitchen and unfortunately took no notice. I should have - he’d knocked it over and a litre of bright green gloop was spreading slowly across the floor. No photos. I had to act quick before the management saw it and we’d both have been in trouble. Towels washed, floor mopped, His Nibs none the wiser.
Morning everyone.Compost into pots for a pineapple sage and a sweet-pea wigwam. Replacement plaster onto himself's left thumb after a rather bloody argument with a tin can.
Summer food today. Assorted cheeses (vignottes, montagnolo and snowdonia), baguettes and red wine for lunch. MS coronation style chicken flatties in ciabatta with salad tonight. Wine goes without saying. Yum.

Meh, I might make a Dr's appointment but with the state of things here I'll probably have to wait 6 monmths for an x-ray
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Go to A&E, silly."Yes, I wish I'd done that! Although my xray was normal which has been the issue. I did jokingly say on Sat I should ask my vet to ultrasound my toe!

Jud - or phone 111 and ask them for advice. I'm with Patti on this one. There might be a queue at A&E, then again there might not. And the sooner you get there the more chance you have of being seen quickly on a bank holiday Monday. It'll take a while for all sports related injuries to turn up.
We don't have 111 here, Will. I don't want to go to find out that there is nothing really wrong and I didn't need to go in the first place :o) I can walk fine and I did manage a 30 minute run too so it's probably just tissue damage. It's just because it niggles from time to time that I get anxious it;s something more.

I ignored mine for the first 2 weeks because of already having arthritis in that foot, then went down the doc route rather than A & E, I'm still in pain 3 months later.
Anybody interested the tastiest, easiest stir fry sauce recipe, ever?I an never buying a packet sauce ever again.
Okay. 😜Sorry. Now I know I can do emoticons, I'm gonna do 'em! Blame Kath.
1/3 cup of soy sauce. I'd recommend low sodium or it'll be too salty.
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 tsp ground ginger (or finely chopped fresh ginger)
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp corn starch (or corn flour, as you lot call it)
That's for beef. If you're doing chicken, use honey instead of brown sugar.
If you're doing veggie, either is good.
Just dump it in after you've stir fried your meat n veg and let it bubble for a couple of minutes.
Nomnomnomnom

I have made dinner, but it only works if she's not in the house when I'm doing it

Me neither!

Have had quite a few of those too - reported to support at goodreads dot com but haven't heard anything. They don't appear in the actual Friends requests, just get emails about them, so maybe GR have deleted those accounts? All links to the same dodgy download site.
Finally getting to grips with the new laptop, after Microsoft killed my old one with destructive updates. All bank holidays mean to me is a traffic problem, and lots of bemused people taking all the parking places wherever I want to go...

I just flag the requests and within a couple hours I get an email from Goodreads thanking me.
They must have closed a bunch of roads here yesterday evening cuz our street was absolutely chockablock for a couple hours.I really can't understand the mentality of people who think their horn can make vehicles disappear.
Morning all, cool and overcast. Got a new colleague starting today, will be interesting to see how things work out.
Morning. That slanty poop looked more like a wizards hat than a bowel movement.
It's so lovely and sunny here again. I wish I was still on maternity leave so I could enjoy it properly.

I'm reading this one:
"Persuader", Jack Reacher 10*
Not one of his best.
*Chronologically. 7 in series order, but that's too many syllables!
