Stacey Kennedy Okay- one hopefully last question. I have sparkle in the book and a necklace on the cover- does that work? the word necklace is not in the book but is on the cover. I saw that works for 'item' word but didn't specify for the bonus. If so, I have a book for all words (not flag but a few others in that category are in it)
Thanks :-)

I absolutely love that series, Stacey! Out of curiosity what word are you going to claim in place of flag? The book I want to read doesn't have flag in it either and I thought maybe I could match with what you have picked.

Yes, I am almost finished with the first book- fun, light summer read. Charley is a hoot!I just checked and there are a bunch in there so you tell me. Here's what I found: heart, beer, egg, soldier, candy, dinner, present.

Jennifer H Week 1~Sparkle & Necklace

Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs
Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs
Finished: 7/12/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Fire: police and fire departments (p. 56)
Sparkle: my skin in sparkling water (p. 64)
Egg: a sizable goose egg (p. 22)
Ear: voice in my ear (p. 1)
Necklace: I pulled the necklace (p. 151)

I loved Moon Called and was really looking forward to Blood Bound. It did not disappoint. As in Moon Called there are great well written action scenes. One terrifying scene I loved, you'll know it when you get to it. Mercy is a great female character with strength, but not ballsy to the point of stupidity. I hate that. Looking forward to book three. Read Moon Called first if you have not, you'll enjoy Blood Bound much more.

Read from: 07/12/14 - 07/14/14
Rating: ★★★★

Brief Review
This is a wonderful story in a new-to-me genre of New Adult. Georgia is living a lie and carrying a deep dark secret that threatens to tear her world apart. Jace has secrets of his own. These two wonderful characters find their way to each other through a series of ups and downs, that ultimately leads to the HEA we all expect and love.

What I liked: I loved both Georgia and Jace. I especially liked the way Georgia comes to terms with her past and finds the courage to get her life back.

What I didn't like: There were some discrepancies leading from one scene to another that were distracting, but not enough to make me dislike the story.

Overall it was a 3.5 star read for me, and I look forward to book #2.

1. Called - Sparkle: (location 530)
This close, they sparkle with gold flecks.

2. Bonus - Necklace: (location 864)
My neck is bare, because two months ago I had to sell the sapphire necklace set that Hunter gave me last Christmas.

3. Fire: (location 773)
My face feels on fire .

4. Flag: (location 2216)
Yasmin tries to flag down the bartender, but he's distracted by the hospitality crew girl, Elise, who stalks in with a scowl and slaps her iPad down onto the counter.

5. Ear: (Cover)

Stacey Kennedy Week 1- Sparkle and Necklace
I read Second Grave on The Left by Darynda Jones
Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones

Finished: 7/15/14
Rating: 4 stars

Sparkle: green flecks in his eyes sparkle by contrast- p 110
Necklace: Girl on cover wearing a necklace
Fire: aka Man On Fire- p 205
Egg: She's a good egg- p 154
Ear: dark hair curled over an ear- p 37

Review- This is the second book in this series and i liked it just as much as the first. Charlotte Davidson is the 'not so' grim reaper, a portal of lost souls on earth to pass to heaven. She communicates with the departed and helps many of them leave the earth plane. Being the grim reaper also comes with other supernatural gifts, like she's hard to kill, quick at healing, can sense people's emotions, and many more that she still is learning. These skills make her very unique, if not odd to most, but also help greatly with her job as a private investigator. She helps her local police dept out (her uncle is the chief)solving murders on a weekly basis.
This book picks up where the first left off. Charley has known there was an entity- Big Bad- that has been present in her life since she was born, who has saved her on a number of occasions. She also 'met' Reyes Farrow once as a teen and the connection between them was instant and intense. Although she never saw him again he visits her in her dreams on a regular basis. She found in the last book that Reyes and Big Bad are one in the same. He is also the son of Satan who has forgone the afterworld to live as a human to be with her- they had met before she was born onto earth. Reyes is not the only one looking for her, as the devil himself wants to capture the portal to heaven for himself. It's complicated!
Reyes can travel out of his body and does so while in a coma in prison- where he has been for the murder of his abusive adopted father- but now has escaped. Demons sent from his father have him to trap Charley, who is frantically searching for his body to save. At the same time, she is trying to help find a missing woman, Mimi, who was involved with a 20 year coverup of a fellow high schooler. Everyone who knew anything about the death is suddenly dying, and CHarley, with her gifts and friends- both alive and dead- are on the case.
I love Charley and the characters around her. This book found some resolution with her family which was nice. She is funny, sarcastic, and a general badass while also self deprecating. Yeah she does dumb things but I forgive her because she's really cool! And did I mention funny??!!

review:
This was quite the roller coaster of a read. This book is one serious mind f*ck. Just when you think you have things all figured out you learn rather quickly you don't. Aleatha Romig is a freaking genius. Honestly I don't know when I tried so hard to like a character as much as I wanted to like Tony. I honestly felt like I was in Claire's place. Feeling everything she felt as it was unfolding. I was almost believing that Tony had some good under all that crazy was even starting to like him. Before I knew what hit me things definitely weren't what they seemed. I have to give it up to Aleatha Romig.. Honestly, as much I hated/loved/hated Tony this is one of the most intense, well written stories I have ever experienced. Will drfinitely continue the series.

Words found
sparkle
p.89
The sparkle of his wife’s eyes reflected the flames from the large fireplace.

flag
p.19
that would definitely be a red flag

fire p.111
Brent had a fire pit built into his patio.

ear p.59
securing them in her pierced ears

Necklace p.27
A pearl necklace on a white gold chain was the same one she wore in the wedding picture with Emily.

review

really enjoyed this new author to me. Love it when I find canadian authors. This is the first in a series about Jade who is a magic dowser who is half witch and half human (or so she thinks). She is able to sense magic in objects. She owns a cupcake shop in Vancouver. Having lived in vancouver area for over a decade. This was a comfortable read for me to visualize the different locations. A vampire appears outside her shop window and then she meets werewolves at a dance club. She is drawn into the mystery of why otherwordly creatures are being murdered and found with trinkets from her shop lying near the bodies.

there was lol moments and some really good word play. I liked that the cupcakes descriptions almost were like another set of characters. Will continue with this series. A really good fun relaxing choice (but not when you are on a diet)

Jaw
My jaw dropped and stayed down.
P14

Yellow
One Rapture in a Cup, a yellow/ chocolate swirl cake with cream cheese chocolate icing; p5

Emerald
Emerald green glinted off his eyes, as if the overhead lights were casting a strange glow. P37

Wind
lowered my head to the wind as it rushed over the bridge, and hoped it didn’t rain. P41

Champagne
the instant kind you get from champagne, but far worse than I’d ever felt. P190

Worth the Fall The McKinney Brothers A Loveswept Contemporary Romance by Claudia Connor

Read on July 19, 2014
Rating: ★★★★

Brief Review
This is a wonderful story of two people finding a love neither was looking for, nor for which they were prepared. It is an emotional rollercoaster I didn’t want to put down.

Abby is a widow with four adorable children and one on the way.

Matthew is at the beach for a little fun in the sun before he has to return to his Navy SEAL life.

What I liked:
I loved this story, and how believable it is. This could happen to anyone. I also very much enjoyed watching the story unfold, and how the main characters were able to work through and overcome the obstacles they faced. It took a while to get to the HEA, but oh what a ride!

What I didn’t like:
At times the transition between scenes was very disjointed – jumping from one scene to the next with no clear definition between the two, making them run together.

1. Called - Jaw: (location 921)
Finally she looked at him, saw the muscles in his jaw clench, watched the warmth leave his eyes as he made his decision.

2. Bonus - Yellow: (location 121)
Her short legs struggled in the sand and her arms strained, dragging a yellow bucket.

3. Wind: (location 155)
Before Gracie ate even one, the wind picked them up and sent them tumbling across the sand, where they were immediately attacked by seagulls.

4. Emerald: (location 3399)
Emerald eyes stared up at him like lights in the darkness.

5. Egg: (location 3965)
Could they borrow an egg ?
