Story involves a small town and a closed textile mill/factory. I believe the heroine is trying to re-open it somehow to provide employment for the town. The hero is a rich foreigner that arrives with an entourage of people. One being a beautiful woman who acts like she is his girlfriend (kind of a gold digger), but in reality the hero doesn’t really care for her. The hero came to the town to buy the factory not to re-open it, but because he is looking for some historical pattern templates. I think he wants to re-produce the fabric elsewhere (another country).
The hero and heroine compete for the factory. The heroine trying to convince him the town needs it to survive. She must have been successful to a degree as there are people inside the factory towards the end of the book, however there is some sort of flood. People are trapped inside the mill, and somehow the hero rescues them, with a helicopter I believe, and there isn’t room for everyone, so he stays on the roof of the factory (which may go under) to save the heroine. Of course, there is a HEA :)
I hope I am not getting two books confused, but here are some things I remember:
The heroine is a single mother/divorcee. She seems to have some bad luck electricity. She can’t plug a lightbulb in without it exploding and at one point, the hero and heroine take a ride in an expensive electric car, which goes haywire during the ride and crashes. They are thrown from the vehicle and the hero ends on top of the heroine. Our heroine is a nervous nelly around the hero and jumps up and leaves him. He had hurt his leg, and I believe he was talking to himself how emasculating it was to scoot up a hill on his butt.
There is a town competition shooting targets. Whoever wins is supposed to get a kiss from the heroine. The hero plays, she is thinking he won’t know what to do with a rifle and he ends up being a crack shot. I believe he was some world class Olympic shooter too! Who knew!
I believe she wants to fix up this old house that is falling apart. I think he kisses her for the first time in the kitchen, while her kids are running around the upstairs of the house?
And last but not least, I think she has a sister and brother in law that own a bar/restaurant.
I think this book was from early 2000's.
There is some defenite steam.
The H/h seem to be in their late 30’s early 40’s.
I believe the setting is down south in a small town USA.
wooh thats a lot! Some reason Google wont help with "romance novel textile factory flood roof top rescue" :)
