Joi | 23 comments Hey people. I am looking for some books to read that may not be as well-known as you might like for them to be. I have a habit of not liking many of the hyped up books that go around.

Books that I Have Liked

1. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
2. Obsidian by Jennifer Lynn Armentrout
3. Rule by Jay Crownover
4. Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
5. The Confession by John Grisham

Not a lot of books, yeah, I know. And Attachments didn't receive 5 stars (it got 4), so there is a slim picking but anything you may know will help.

Jacqueline Buan (jackiesbookcorner) | 132 comments Hi Joi! I loved Obsidian, and I get what you mean about not liking books that are too mainstream (gosh I have a feeling people are going to start throwing the word "hipster" around here).

So anyways! If you loved Obsidian, I'm definitely sure you'll love Existence. It's not about aliens, but the style of writing and the main love interest are pretty similar. Hope you'll enjoy it! :)

Joi | 23 comments Thank you so much. I just feel like I need to take a step back from the mainstream for a while. I'll probably get a lot of slack for saying this, but here goes.....for some reason I feel pressured to LOVE the same books that the others love.....and I'm just not loving them. I really want to find a person that has similar interests (in books) as me so I know that I can trust their opinions, not just because they agree with the "others".

Jacqueline Buan (jackiesbookcorner) | 132 comments I totally get you. Haha when people recommended TFIOS and Divergent years ago, I just ignored the books because all hype does is lift your expectations, and I hate that. It was only after the hype died down that I read (and fell in love with) both books.

Anyways! I'm sorry for insisting but you got to read Existence. It's a light, easy read like Obsidian, and the romance is pretty great, haha. :)

Jacqueline Buan (jackiesbookcorner) | 132 comments Oh and you should give Black City a try as well! This is actually one of the books that I wish would be given more attention, because it really is epic. Seriously it's incredible :D

Joi | 23 comments Please don't yell @ me....but I freaking HATED tfios....I couldn't even finish it. But I did love Divergent....I wasp pleasantly surprised.

I will read Existence. I read the blurb....I think I'll like it. I just have a problem with not finishing trilogies/series.

Jacqueline Buan (jackiesbookcorner) | 132 comments Oh no i'm not yelling.. sorry I can be really hyper, and I use exclamation points a lot when I talk to people, sorry.

Aww I'm sorry you didn't like TFIOS. Anyways I checked your shelves and saw Ignite Me. If you're into guys like Warner (the baddie) then you might like Of Beast and Beauty because the love story is pretty similar :) not a lot of people know about it, but it's pretty.. interesting? Haha.. and it's a stand-alone :)

Nahhhh.... I thought you would yell because I hated tfios, a lot of people tend to do that. I hated ignite me as well. I never finished it.

Jacqueline Buan (jackiesbookcorner) | 132 comments Oh, haha I'm not that type of fan that goes all berserk when people don't like the stuff I'm into. Oh no, even Ignite Me? Hmm..

Well, there's this book called Best Kind of Broken and I think it's pretty similar to Rule. Like, there's the whole hesitant hot guy, and a tragedy that both characters haven't quite gotten past and it's keeping them from entering a relationship. Haha :) (it's also a stand-alone)

Joi | 23 comments I've heard of White Cat and The Pledge. I'll definitely look into those. The other three look interesting. I actually own the Mind Readers and Parallel, I just haven't picked them up yet. I will soon though.

Joi | 23 comments That book sounds great. Thanks Ashly.

Jacky (booklovingjacky) I loved the Sweet Trilogy by Wendy Higgins. And it's mentioned in Origin, remember? :) Wendy has a similar sexy and funny writing style as Jennifer L. Armentrout and even though the main story is not that extraordinary, it's still one of my most favorite trilogies. If not my absolute favorite one. :)

Joi | 23 comments Okay those are also going on my list.

Megan (megandurrence) | 12 comments Love the Lux series as well. Sad to see it's over :(
Bound (The Crystor, #1) by C.K. Bryant Is really under hyper. Like, you can barely find the link when you look it up. But it's so good! I got the first one free and it actually reminds me of the Lux series. Same relationships and whatnot. Though, I must warn you, the second book leaves on a cliffhanger and the third seems to be MIA, though it was supposed to be out by now.
Something Witchy This Way Comes (Something Witchy, #1) by Veronica Blade Has a love-hate relationship that is hilarious to read. They kind of get thrown together when Tessa discovers she has powers and will have to choose between two groups that both claim to be the "good guys" and one hires Hayden, the school's bad boy, to be Tessa's bodyguard until she makes her choice. Being smart and good, Tessa knows what kind of guy Hayden is and isn't too thrilled being paired with him. And Hayden, knowing this, doesn't want to be with such a boring goody person.

Okay, give these a try if they interest you, and I'll give you more to look up :)
