What are you reading for this category? Warlight
- Why did you choose this book? Because I really like Michael Ondaatje's books
- Do you usually try to read very recent books? It's not like something I consciously try to do, but I like reading the NY Times book section and magazines and they recommend new books. Not to mention the monthly Goodreads New Releases newsletter. But at the end of the day, it depends on what the library hold shelf wants to give me!

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments I had four choices on my original plan to choose from : The Great Alone, Sometimes I Lie, The Hazel Wood, and The Flight Attendant.

I ended up reading Sometimes I Lie, which was a fun thriller that I almost but couldn't quite figure out.

For mid grade we just started Maggie & Abby's Neverending Pillow Fort

And for our picture books we read A Campfire Tail, a story about a dragon who just doesn't fit in at summer camp.

I developed a really bad habit last year of throwing pre-orders on my kindles if I saw a review of something that looked fantastic or a new release was coming out by a favorite author. I've toned it down this year, but last year was bad, so I had tons to choose from for this category. I REALLY wanted to read Iron Gold, but I still have to finish the rest of that series before I can move on.

For the mid grade and picture books I again looked to the GR choice awards for inspiration and ideas.

Sue S | 558 comments I have just finished Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. It is long for an unputdownable book (497 pages), but I still got through it in just over 24 hours

Victory Disc (The Vinyl Detective #3) by Andrew Cartmel
- Why did you choose this book? This is the third in a series called Vinyl Detective that I really enjoy. The main character finds rare and old jazz records for his customers and it becomes these complex "cozy mystery" type situations that are pretty awesome.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books? I've been trying to read them more. While I enjoy finishing off my old TBR, I also want to stay up to date on series that I enjoy or be able to go to book events and know who the currently hot writers are. It's been good for me.

I read Force of Nature by Force of Nature

Why did you choose this book?
I had read The Dry which I really liked, so wanted to see if this was just as good.

Do you usually try to read very recent books?
No. I tend to read much older books in a hope to catch up on some of the series I have started.

Samantha | 1594 comments - What are you reading for this category? Nine Perfect Strangers
- Why did you choose this book? I put it on hold at the library and it became available at a good time for me to read it for this prompt.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books? I read a lot of recently published books.

Ashley (ashleym99) I read The President Is Missing. It sounded good and so this is the book I read. Sometimes I read recent books. If one looks interesting at the library in the new section, I will get it. I did buy this book though as I wanted to read it.

I read Milkman by Anna Burns
- Why did you choose this book?
It just won the Booker, so I had bought it, and it was the only book on my shelf that fit the category (and I really wanted to read it).
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I read books that intrigue me, so if that is recent then sure - but I don't always hear about new books as they come out and don't often follow the 'next new books are coming' lists.
