Briony Smith | 28 comments Hi,

I'm thinking about opening a store on my website. I have a load of small art prints, a few necklaces and things left over from my first vendoring at a comic con and thought I could open an online store on my website to sell them off.

I thought I could potentially sell off a signed version of my book too for a bit of a higher price as well.

Has anyone else done this and how has it gone?

A part of me just wonders if I should open an etsy store and link that instead...

I used to have a gifts & accessories store with its own website, and I found it was hard to both market it and get people to trust it enough to buy directly from me. I signed up for Etsy and had more luck, because it opens you to a broad audience of customers that are specifically looking for what you offer.

I also found in terms of SEO, exposure, etc. they were very easy to use and the small fees paid more than acceptable. It definitely beat Amazon/eBay/the likes for me.

In terms of selling your book via the same website, to be honest I've considered it as well and I offer mine on my website, but only the series that is not strictly with Amazon. Not sure if you're with KDP select, but be careful you don't break some kind of terms and conditions of whichever publisher you use.

Hope that helps :)
