It's going to be a very interesting book, purely just to find out what was going on :)

Jolange Okay I think I got this...
I read Oblivion and at first I was like WTF. How could a brother do that to his other brother? Thomas knew Trent loved Cami that's why he isn't jealous when she tells them they are hanging out. Also why, in their text messages when Cami admits that Trent kissed her, Thomas replies with "Figures" when she said that Trent kissed her not the other way around. Thomas is using Cami as cover. He pops in to town every so often and needs a cover. Why Cami? Not sure but her brother is into drugs and gets into trouble. Her roommate is always losing her keys (Right....) and when Ray loses them in Oblivion she doesn't remember dropping them on the stairs?? Thomas shows up with them?? He's using the apartment for something. I think he does end up loving Cami but the author has made a point to say multiple times that when one of the Maddox boys falls in love it's forever. Cami isn't it for Thomas and he knows it. Thomas is a Maddox, if he was in love with Cami as Trent is or Travis is with Abby, then there would never have been a question what he would do to keep her.
Also in the epilogue of Walking Disaster, Travis is working with Thomas and Thomas volunteers to talk to Abby why Travis is gone and Travis says "You'll lie" which Thomas responds with "It's what we do". It also says that back when Travis and Abby first started dating Thomas was starting to investigate Benny and his "numerous" illegal activities. Definitely something going on in the small town we just don't know what.
I do wonder why Cami and why he sent the flowers to the tattoo shop. He knew Trent would see them and the card says "I talked myself out of this several times this week, but I had to". Why did he have to? I figure a lot of it will be cleared up in his book. Still think it's horrible he did this to Cami esp knowing Trent loved her but who knows.

Ha, Very well put! Definitely makes sense, it did feel like there had to be more to it than just the fact that he was an agent and yes I will be be interested to see why Cami, there has to be more to it. Looking forward to it now, thanks Jolange :)

Kathy Jolange...
You just made my whole day! If any of your theories prove to be true, I will feel so much better about this book!

Well said!!

This is why I won't jump to judgement on Cami or Trent until I hear Thomas' side. Trent clearly felt justified for not feeling guilty and that to me says that Thomas knew how Trent felt and he went there anyway. And I'm glad you pointed out the whole "when am Maddox boy falls in love, its forever", this is what makes me know that while Thomas may love Cami, she isn't the one for him.

Margie Herbert Chris wrote: "Maybe Im missing something, WHY was it a secret? I couldn't find where that was in the book....why didn't she just tell Trent at the beginning (when she DIDNT want to go out with him) "I can't see ..."

AND, why would Jamie McGuire make it like a "secret" to her readers who TJ really was? We figured it out in the first chapter. So where's the real climax of this story? Final line of the book gave us his name...which we already knew. It was like the "well, duh!" moment. Too predictable

Try reading Walking Disaster. The epilogue should answer your question.

My theory was along the same lines. Thomas is definitely an agent, and Travis says that he had been investigating Benny since he and Abby were dating. I think that when Thomas came back for "work," it was to see Abby and get a feel for what she knows about the illegal activities and such. Notice that both times he comes back from Cali were when his family met up along with Abby and instead of telling Cami that he came back for family, he tells her that he had "work." It made sense in my head...I might just be losing it though...

Margie Herbert The "secret" I was referring to in my post was WHO TJ was, not what he did for a living. I felt like it was an insult to McGuire's faithful readers the way she wrote the story--as if we couldn't figure out who TJ was. Again, very anti-climactic at the end. I too wanted a twist at the end. Something that McGuire would be telling her readers, "HA! You thought I was talking about Thomas, but it was really ______!"

Noelle Completely agree with Margie. I enjoyed the love story of Cami and Trent, but since I read Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster (twice) I figured out who TJ was in the beginning. I kept reading for the love story not to see who TJ was. I would think most Travis fans would've figured it out as well. People who haven't read her other books would've been surprised, but why would they read about Travis now since you know a lot about Travis know especially the outcome of the fire scene.

Natalie Cullen In all honesty though this book did not make me interested in Thomas's story. I ended up not liking him especially when she goes to visit him I just didn't get him.

I totally agree!!!

Ashleigh Sleeping with 2 brothers....it kind of ruins the love story for me :/

yeah iv'e started to dislike Thomas too

Magdalena I totally missed the fact that TJ is Thomas like Trenton's brother ... i read Beautiful Disaster a while ago so i didn't remember it all that well and the ending was a little anticlimactic for me ..

So let me see straight ... Trenton brother Thomas knew that Trenton loved Cami like forever and he went after her (why) and when he knew that Cami was with Trenton he send her flowers on Vday (why) and this whole time he was telling her he love her and all (why)??

He is a bad brother ... i want to see from Trenton pov conversation between him and his brother when Cami was unconscious

it's the first time after a read a book and i need someone to explain it to me cause i'm lost

Choui "How did Trenton not know who T.J. really was in such a small town?

Because T.J. took great care to make sure no one knew what he did or that he was dating Cami. There is more than one reason for this, such as T.J. knowing in advance about Trenton's true feelings for Cami."

From Jamie's website

Well it seems like Thomas knew about Trent's feelings and still went for Cami anyways I just hope Jamie clarifies clearly why he decide to cross the bro code because from what we know he's not the type to do something like that to his family! I don't want to hate a Maddox so I hope in Beautiful Redemption Jamie will make it clear to us. I wish the Redemption was from Thomas POV and not the female agent's. I wanna know what Thomas was thinking when he decided to go for Cami!!! If not I want a Trent's POV so we get to know how they were okay with the whole messed up situation.

Michelle Michaels Conklyn I have been all over good reads posting this SAME question. I literally felt like there were ten chapters missing from my book. WHY didn't Cami just tell Trenton it makes NO SENSE.

After I read that ending I realized that the whole book there were things missing...she literally texted TJ saying "Ive been spending a lot of time with Trent" "Trent just kissed me" HIS OWN BROTHER. and then he was just okay with it and flew her down to CA!?!? WTF I am getting more mad now that I am putting the pieced together.

ALSO, where in the world does it say that TJ is a FBI agent?? I feel like JM should of explained that more. Cami didn't know about the FBI I don't think..she says TJ is in marketing or something right?? IDK VERY CONFUSING I COMPLETLY AGREE.

I am hoping this next one will be more in depth and have a lot of explanations...the synopsis on her website..it looks like its going to be really good. I hope its better than this one..

Magdalena it feels like Jamie wrote this book so she knew all about what she wanted to say and maybe sth was so obvious for her she simply forget to write about it ... i don't see any other explanation

Maybe a small part of the puzzle ... at the end of Travis's POV we find out about Thomas being a FBI agent.

I agree it is VERY CONFUSING!

message 72: by A.R. (new) - rated it 4 stars

A.R. DeClerck I knew from about page 20 that TJ was the boyfriend, AND that he was an undercover agent...It didn't really do it for me like BD did...I loved that book and was really hoping for the same kind of wow factor and this book was missing that OOMPH.

I agree. But I also think there is something missing because Thomas is going to be the next book and that some of the things missing and questions gone unanswered will be answered in the next book. Gotta say, can't wait!

Melissa Barnett I honestly was pissed off when the sudden truth that had to be told or the world would end secret was thrown in. Who actually cares. I won't read another book of this series, I'll go back to reading autobiographies that actually make sense.

message 75: by Lisa (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lisa I found this v. confusing also. In fact, the minute I finished I had to go and look it up - spoiled the book for me.

Lavinia I'm actually wondering if Trenton and TJ had already had this conversation prior to him being with her. I suspect that Trenton is a very clever man that also cared about her enough to let her go. But remained by her side just to make sure she was good to go. Also in the story it didn't really point out that he was horribly disappointed.

Anyone else get that feeling???

Read Thomas's book.....It becomes very clear. This book was just missing so much, plus it was hard for me to like Trent and Cami knowing she slept with both brothers :/

Heidi I think the whole scenario is just odd! Why would you date a girl that you know that your brother has loved all of his life!? You know that TJ (Thomas) had to know this!! Travis certainly did! And it's so weird that she willingly dated both of the brothers! I mean, WTF!?
The whole idea of this makes me like Cami even less!!

I still have not decided if I am going to read the next book or not. Jamie started out so well with BD and I even loved WD but I was so incredibly disappointed with Beautiful Oblivion!

message 81: by Erika (new)

Erika I hate the whole sleeping with brothers thing. To me it's just nasty. I'm not crazy about the Beautiful series. I loved Travis and Abby but sometimes the best book in the series is the 1st one and the rest can't compare.

Totally agree! I loved the Providence series and WD but now it seems like the author is just money hungry and writing pointless books!

message 83: by Rayna (new)

Rayna Tj is older and left the home sooner to pursue his fbi carreer so I don't believe he knew Trent loved cami from grade school. I think he asked cami out and asked her not to tell anyone, including his family that they were dating bc his family didn't know he was in the fbi and possibly didn't want her to slip it out by association (considering they go to the red and went to school together). I think after realizing Trent loved cami, tj flew her out to cali to decide for herself who she wanted so it was fair for everyone. She didn't expect to fall for Trent. It just happened. She tried like hell to avoid him. But he was around and tj wasn't. At first it didn't add up to me but now I can see how it played out. it was probs hard for tj to lose cami to his bro. But loving Trent he wanted him to be happy too.

message 84: by Rayna (new)

Rayna I also think she didn't know that tj was a Maddox till after she told him that Trent and her had been seeing a lot of each other. then he probs told her. And that made things even more difficult for her. Everyone is mad at tj and cami but they both did the right thing.

I agree, I think it's getting a little boring and it takes so much time to figure everything out.

message 86: by Brianna (new)

Brianna What I don't understand is the fact that tj showed up at the red to surprise Cami, doesnt everyone know who all the Maddox brothers are? If so then everyone knows tj is Thomas, therefore letting that small secrets out... Unless I'm just misunderstanding it all and everyone knows who he really is, but just keeps quite?

Stephanie The people at her work, The Red, knew about TJ. It was the brothers that didn't know. I think her co-workers didn't feel it was their place to say anything. No one wants to get in the middle of a Maddox brother fight.

Erissman This was the first and only book in the series I read. I still am not clear on the "big secret." What in the world was it?

message 89: by Ale (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ale Mariaca Clavel I still don't understand the end of the book! could someone explain it to me? I am driving me crazy!! :(

Which part are you needing explained specifically? The end does jump ahead.

Raween Osama I've just finished the book and I swear to god i felt breathless and exactly I didn't realise at all that TJ is Thomas throughout the story! I loved this kne though

That isn't why Trent wouldn't want to be with her; it's because TJ is his brother and she was TJ's girl. Nobody in TJ's family knew he was dating her or that he was in the FBI. He kept the FBI job a secret because of a promise he had made to his mother. He kept Cami a secret because he knew Trent had a thing for her as well. It would lead to tension in the family. More of it is revealed in TJ's book.

Stephanie Anneliese wrote: "WAIT! So TJ is Thomas? How did you guys figured that out? I never imagined it... I feel kinda dumb lol"

Oh goodness honey the very last words of the book spelled it out.

message 97: by Eva (new)

Eva B I have to vent here a little bit. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Travis and Abby's love story. Trent and Cami's was barely lukewarm compared to theirs. All throughout the book I thought TJ's big secret was that he was married possibly with children. And when Cami told Trent that he would hate her when he found out, that's why. I was pissed off when the last line of the book revealed that TJ was the oldest Maddox brother. No matter what his reasons were to date Cami, it is wrong! And I cannot like Cami after this. Sorry but you don't screw 2 blood brothers. You just don't. Even though it happens in real life. I should know. It happened to me. My ex husband had an affair with his younger brother's wife while he was still married to me. They had 2 daughters. After I divorced him, they got divorced too and got married and had a daughter. So the woman had kids from both brothers. Disgusting! They are divorced now and both of them remarried to other people. She had another daughter with the new guy and who knows what my ex has been up to since then. I cut him out of my life completely. He totally ruined me.
But back to the book. Thomas was described in the first 2 books as this loving father figure who would do anything for his family. And all the Maddox brothers had a very strong bond and love for each other. I don't care what you feel, you do not take or try to take the girl your brother loves away from him! And Cami should have told Trent she cannot be with him until her current boyfriend situation resolved itself for good. She wanted to keep Thomas's secret? Fine. But have some character and don't string along the other brother who clearly is in love with you. Honestly? I don't think Travis and Abby's love story can be topped or any of the other brothers' even come close to being as deep as theirs. I will read all of the books because I want to know what happens to the twins and how it all ends up. Sorry for my rant.
