Catherine Cavendish | 314 comments Does anyone else have anything ghostly or mysterious going on in their attics, basements or homes generally?

Anne (w/ an E) (mzcatnthehat) | 825 comments I do think there is the ghost of a chicken "living" in my refrigerator. At least once a day I hear it clucking, for 5 minutes or so. This has been happening since I moved in, 2 years ago. I also hear scratching in my bedroom wall (I know I said it was my dog but I hear this too!).

Catherine Cavendish | 314 comments A chicken? Haunting the refrigerator? Now that's unique. This has conjured up all sorts of images in my head... unless. It's not an egg timer is it? As for the scratching in the walls. Yes, I'm with you there. I find it always seems to start late at night when everything else has grown quiet...

Anne (w/ an E) (mzcatnthehat) | 825 comments No, it's not an egg timer :D. My only explanation is that the refrigerator is going to quit on me soon. I've lived here 2 years and it is still working so I have to go with the chicken-ghost. And yes, the scratching is only at night, when it is quiet. My building is around 54 years old and I who knows what happened before I moved in...

message 55: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Cavendish | 314 comments Yes well if it wasn't an egg timer, it had to be. Refrigerators in my experience tend to go through death throes. They do not throw off their mortal(?) coils quietly.

That's just so strange lol. Tell it to go outside if it's going to make all that noise.

I got sidetracked with a few other projects, but am "officially" into the read now. I LOVE horror that involves Egyptian history! I've already added the next book to my "wish list" after reading just the beginning of this one.

Cat. In your stories, do any of your characters exhibit autobiographical tendencies?

Hi Ken. Not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean, do any of them reflect the real me? Or that they want to tell their own stories?

Actually, in some cases, both are true. I have written some aspects of me into characters from time to time - although I hesitate to reveal which ones! And my characters frequently clamour to tell their own stories. Wrath of the Ancients was nearly told in Adeline's first person - until I decided to set it in different time zones.

I am really getting into this tale now, and it has everything I love in an ancient Egyptian/curse novel, and then some! I still "can't" predict the ending, and for myself, that is a great thing this far along in the book!

Oh great, Kimberly. I love to keep my readers guessing. I have been completing a new novel this weekend and just came up with another 'unexpected' ending - at least I hope it will be. Now enjoying a delicious Austrian fresh ground coffee and schnapps to celebrate. :)

Don't forget that Catherine is giving away signed copies of Wrath of the Ancients to two lucky winners that:

1) Participated in the group read
2) Posted reviews of Wrath of the Ancients here on Goodreads and Amazon

That's it! The winners will be drawn once the calendar flips over to December. Good luck!
