I just meant it wouldn't make a lot of sense for me to repost my part of a discussion here. I've mostly been cross posting my thoughts in both groups. Also, I'm a slow reader, so I expect you'll finish well before me. With the next four days off though, I'll probably finish this weekend though.

I understood :) I am just hoping to also offer a few things for conversation as we go along. And then you can copy your comments here to your friends elsewhere and let THEM wonder at the meaning.

When Words of Radiance came out we had like 8-10 participate. I'm not sure if or when any of them will jump in. I think a few don't really use Goodreads anymore.

Sorry, Leonie! The spoiler tag didn't repopulate, so I deleted it in case people didn't want any details yet. I agree though, Rob's posts are tantalizing!
So I made the "mistake" of starting part 5 last night intending to finish today. Instead I stayed up late to finish the book. I highly recommend not starting part 5 unless you intend to finish the whole thing.I think this is my least favorite of the series so far, but it's still an easy 5 star read to me. This last section was especially great.
So much happened here, I'll probably forget to bring it all up.

It took me 11 days (partially due to my shipping issues) to read the first 57% of the book, and 3 days to read the last 43%. I suspect I could have easily read the whole thing this past weekend if need be, despite my painfully slow reading pace.
Hey all! I'm new here--I'm Michael, big, big Sanderson fan. Happy to be be part of this group!I wanted to veer sorta off topic for a minute--has anyone read The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington? I mention it because I finished book one a few months ago and LOVED it. Very Sanderson-esque (in a good way). The magic is pretty cool, but the world-building and characters are great. Highly recommended for epic fantasy fans.
And in case it needs to be said I don't work for the publisher, nor am I James Islington (though I wish). I've been throwing this book at everyone because I think it's truly great.

Well, I for one am appreciative of your recommendation, Michael. I've had an eye on that book for a while now and now I'll surely read it off your glowing words! And Stormlight Archive I've also got lined up for next year so looks like I'm all set in the epic fantasy dept! (I know, I know, I'm probably the last person left on this whole earth who hasn't read that much Sanderson but there it is).

Haha! This was the second of his works I tried. I didn't love Mistborn, but if it's a popular author, I try a couple times. Boy was I not disappointed! I envy you the journey ahead of you, I wish I could just be starting these again!
And thanks for the tip, Michael!

No need to be sorry! I would never hold someone back from a new book haha.
I should though-I can totally mess up the timeline by inserting WoK stuff. Just got Oathbringer in mail for the spouse for xmas - trying not to think too hard about the cover haha.

Rachel please do, seriously! I am really curious what your thoughts are (and I hope November is treating you okay!)

I've found the gradual unravelling of Dalinar's past/character a fascinating part of the story. He's obviously deeply flawed but trying to do the right thing - which to me makes him a compelling if not necessarily likeable character.

Friend/Assistant: Umm...
B: Not "um" no. Actually... "Captain Notum strolled up to..." Hey that works okay, thanks!."
Lol
It must be tough having to come up with names for literally hundreds of characters/places... who can blame him for cutting corners occasionally?
I mean, Tolkien invented entire languages for his books, but still couldn't come up with a better name for a scary mountain than 'Mt Doom'.

Haha! Definitely not a criticism, just something that I noticed. I don't know how he came up with all these names and conventions. It really does astound me.

I'm totally behind now with less opportunity to read, so I'm enviously eyeing all those lovely spoiler links, haha. Anyway, I just finished Part 2 of Oathbringer, and here are a couple of thoughts. (view spoiler)

Finished Oathbringer yesterday. For a few days, at the beginning, I was a bit uncertain that this would be the book I was hoping for, but then…oh my goodness! So much in that last part! Am still getting my breath back!
Well I just finished The Way of Kings this morning!! Thank God for preschool. I think I fell in love with Dalinar and Kaladin at about page 800?

I think it's going to be hard not to mosey over and pick up WoR and try to read 'just a bit' when I have about 7 other physical books lined up (like all in the bedroom, or coming from library this month)That front inside cover of WoR makes it clear who we will see a lot of I think. Although - is anyone else's seemingly upside down?

I read WoK and then my entire reading schedule--nay, my entire life--was fully upended: library books went overdue, kids got neglected, meals were burnt, dust started breeding more dust in the corners of the living room. I blame Allison.

Reading Sanderson and having kids are practically incompatible things!
I blame her too.

LOL!
*Looks for someone named Allison behind her*
Welp. I guess the cheese stands alone. I'm sorry. (#sorrynotsorry)
You should definitely cave, though. Who needs family when you have some spren?
I don't remember my cover being upside down. However, I also have only the fuzziest recollection OF the cover. They can be tricksy, these covers, I choose to follow the path of the Almighty and not speculate on the future of what might be contained in books behind those covers.

Finished Oathbringer wahoo!Probably my least favourite of the series so far tbh, but still really good. The slow reveal of Dalinar’s past is very effective.

Add me to the list!
Finished it earlier today. Although I have to agree with most readers on this book as being my least favorite of the series (but still great!), Dalinar’s backstory was my favorite of the three.

Well I don't want to build up the hype about my comments behind the spoiler tags..but they are mindblowing!
(not really, you'll probably be disappointed).
I finished part 2 and the second interlude last night. I don't have much else to add apart from what I said earlier though.
Well I do, but I posted it in my other group's discussion, and I doubt much of it is worth reposting here. A lot of it was responding to other comments really.
