I haven't started Rainwild yet, either.

Am I the only one who actually liked rainwild? Lol
I thought the dragons were so well done, and all of the flawed characters made it feel like I was reading about real people on an expedition (one of my fav components to Hobbs writing is how well she makes you feel for people with issues). And there were so many answers to my burning questions about the history of certain things. And the discoveries inspired awe and wonder. I'm not saying it was perfect, but I took away a lot of awesome things from those four books.
Fools Fate rocked my soul. It's the reason I started a book blog and got active on the online book community - I needed to share how profoundly I loved it!
Hobb love rant over lol.

I think it may have had a stronger impact on me because I'd been waiting years for the answers rainwild provided, and I wasn't disappointed. I also always give preference when something does dragons really well, so that should give you a better idea on what makes me tick lol.

I'l let you know my thoughts on Rainwild in a few weeks :-) I feel you on the soul rocking of Fool's Fate. Such a good book. Such great characters.

We just have to differ on this one, Niki. xD I took away nothing other than kids must be taught sex education. Otherwise their teenager libido will blow out of control
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "Ha! I like teen romance drama so I might like it more than you did 😉"You absolutely could! Teen romance drama is a huge no no in my read. xD

Oh, you're in for a treat then. I read this for the time being aware of the Cosmere but before SA. Couldn't really understand all that was going on then. Re-reading it (with Cosmere-encyclopedia Iain, no less) was great :D
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "Last night finishedFool's Fate. This is my favorite book of the series so far and Tawney Man is my favorite subseries from the overall so far. I now feel like I have a giant hole in me..."Oh boy, I cried buckets when I finished that book. Didn't help that there were no plans for continuing the Realm of the Elderlings series at that time.

I didn't love it but didn't hate it like Petrik haha. Was more of a 'meh'; didn't like the teenage drama part, but was hooked by all the reveals.
Also, dragons <3 Love how Hobb portrayal them :)
Virginie wrote: "Zaara, did you go to my tracker, Anni's tracker and Iain's PLUS this thread to make sure we wouldn't miss the BR for A Monster Calls? x)"Haha I have such refreshingly childlike faith in the efficacy of Goodreads notifications, no?

We are keeping the thread even after Oct 31, please even if it just goes in Archive or something...plzzz let it be available to see.
I learned so much abt so many series I didn't know about just from posts on here.
Also, it has Oathbringer spoilers 😈 which I sooo HAVEN'T forgotten they're there. I always miss so many posts from here that each time I have idle few minutes in an random place (less than ten so I decide not to whip out the book from my bag) I can jezzt read old posts from here instead...voilà, instant FBR goodness!
😄😋😆
Petrik wrote: "I never cry reading novels, I don't know why. There were some books that almost make me cry though, just haven't yet!"Ok....now I also wanna see which book will push Pethe demom over the emotional line...😢
EDIT I am slowly still catching up the posts on this thread on my crappy connection
No pressure to like it at all from me, I'm just (clearly) really impassioned by it. The teen drama was a bit more in your face than most books, but it didn't bother me because it just added to the authenticity of the story. It's totally easy to imagine that kind of stuff happening if it was a real expedition with young people. I also think it's less about what they are doing, and more about what ramifications their actions have throughout the rest of the story.
Haha no worries Petrik, we definitely have a few polarizing thoughts on a few parts of the whole saga.

Petrik wrote: "Thank you, Veronica! haha I guess that's true! Once I'm back, I'll start Midnight Tides! Are you joining that BR too? "Yes, I'll be there even if Karsa tries to stand in my way. :-)
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "Last night finishedFool's Fate. This is my favorite book of the series so far and Tawney Man is my favorite subseries from the overall so far. I now feel like I have a giant hole in me..."
That whole series is on my list!
@Zaara: Scoresheet all up to date! Great job, you!I love this thread as well. Every time I get a notification for a post here, I get excited lol.
Btw Zaara, we have Tooth and Claw starting tomorrow! :DI'm so late for all my BRs, I'll read this one veryyyyy slowly! I was supposed to start Poppy (POOPY) War today, but I'm swamped. No way I'm passing on this BR though, especially after I went and tried to recruit half the group to read it with me xD
Tks Ron. I just thought of you on North and South thread.@Ginny...I swear...I was jezzt going to your tracker to post the same. Oh and tks.
Virginie wrote: "Diana Stormblessed wrote: "Last night finishedFool's Fate. This is my favorite book of the series so far and Tawney Man is my favorite subseries from the overall so far. I now feel lik..."It very much reads like an ending. I'm so glad there's more. I'm not done with them.

Ridiculous. So much better in rereading. The first time I read through it was immediately after finihsing the first trilogy. What a mistake. Having finished Bands of Mourning and have an undertanding fo Cosmere is a must for maximum enjoyment!
Petrik, I agree!! So profound after finishing BoM. One of my favorite short stories to date because of how much it actually adds to the experience.
Niki Hawkes wrote: "Petrik, I agree!! So profound after finishing BoM. I gave it 4 stars, i didn't realize how much I'm missing out. I think reading it after BoM and have an understanding of Cosmere improved it a LOT! I gave it 5 stars and like Emperor's Soul, it's two of my favorite novella now! :D
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "I need to reread it. That and the whole mistborn series, both eras."Totally agree! I've reread the first trilogy last month and it was amazing. I will reread the second era next year!! Preparation for Lost Metal! :)
Niki Hawkes wrote: "Actually, I bet we'll probably leave it open so people can keep tracking their stuff."Oh thank god. That's all I need xD
Niki Hawkes wrote: "Actually, I bet we'll probably leave it open so people can keep tracking their stuff."Oh, good! I can't be an Empress without my spreadsheet empire, after all :)

Imo the last subseries, The Fitz and the Fool, is the best one by far. Just my opinion though! I didn't really like how Fool's Fate ended! Rainwild is still one of the worst series I've ever read in my entire life. 3.5 stars, 1 star, 3 stars, 2 stars. I think that was my rating.. Good luck!
