Zaara | 4273 comments Yeah. I was referring to the scene Diana speaks about in her spoiler. It made me laugh. It read like a fight scene. On the other hand Abercrombie's battle scenes in that book were lush and lyrical, like love songs...actually like intricate mating dances...😂😂😂
*Insert ostrich GIF aaaaaand fails*
Helllloooooo Pinks!

Solseit | 1516 comments Well done team! So much progress and I feel like I am dragging my feet!
It is impressive how much and how consistently most of you read. I thought I was a strong reader but I have to reconsider; clearly I am a normal (if not less) reader.
I am so impressed by all of your commitment!

Don't say you don't do that when you're kissing, Virgine! That's a new level of french kissing right there! You need to adapt!

I actually laughed at this one xD I don't know, I think Abercrombie purposely wrote his sex scenes to be awkward and hilarious. The one in Best Served Cold made me laugh out loud xD

message 3562: by Solseit (new)

Solseit | 1516 comments See Abercrombie has been on my radar for years now and I have not started his series just yet. I need to fix that too.
This group should come with a "TBR pile warning: Your reading list is about to multiply uncontrollably. You have been warned"!

I'm honestly more amazed by how readers with kids (like Veronica) able to read so much. I really don't see how I'll be able to read a lot once I have kids on my own. This is also why I'm hoping to finish Malazan, WoT within this year and next year. That way, when I have kids, I can focus on 1-5 book series only. Yes, I plan my reading that far ahead xD

LOL! I agree, Iain is in his own category. It's like he breathes books instead of reading them (like the rest of the world does).

I think French fries are a mistake by English speakers. They thought they were in France because of the French speaking population but it was supposed to be Belgian fries. I have a vague recollection of having read it somewhere but I cannot remember where. And if the information is wrong, please rain hell on this post!

"The french kiss was first known as maraichanage, a term to describe the prolonged, deep, tongue kiss practised by the Maraichins, inhabitants of Brittany, France. It dates from at least the 1920s. It is derived from the idea that the French people are sexually liberated or even promiscuous"

There you go.. Blame the Maraichins xD

It was harder when they were little but now my youngest is eight years old so they're all of an age where they can forage for food on their own. I believe I've mentioned my rules before?

Mom's Rules For When She's Reading

Don't bother me unless:
1. Someone or something is on fire.
2. There is profuse bleeding
3. There is copious amounts of vomiting going on

Oddly enough, the kids are pretty good about letting me read in peace. It's my beloved husband who's always bugging me. :-)

So I just updated my spreadsheet - 65 points!!!

You know how I've been complaining that I haven't felt like I've been getting through that many books this month? I thought it was because I've been slower than usual, but while entering my data I noticed that 7 out of the last 10 books I read were 500+ pages! No wonder it feels like I'm slow lately haha.

Haha, I love the rules!
But there should also be a rule for Moms not to disturb their children and make them do chores while they are reading (my Mom used to do that a lot when I was younger and it always annoyed me so much 🙄)
