Miche | 3279 comments Title: Forbidden Fire
Author: Heather Graham Pozzessere
Pages: 372
Buddy Read: No
Challenge: Yes (A-Z)
Total points: 4.7

After three fantasy books that killed characters that I liked, I needed something light. I might go for a couple more romances before jumping at King's Shield.

The complete opposite of me.. I've been unwell for the past week and it's really hard to read novels. I'm rereading Tokyo Ghoul though!

Solseit | 1516 comments Well done team!
Hopefully I will contribute again this week with a couple of books!
Plus I will take a short holiday from Friday to mid next week and I should be able to read a lot! Including 2 legs of 7-hour drive with audiobooks!

Oh, I hope you'll get better soon!
Are you re-reading TG to prepare for the sequel? :D

Thank you! :)

Yes!! I'm halfway through my reread of Tokyo Ghoul, Kaneki's hair just turned white (can't ever get enough of that moment)

I'm almost done with my current novel too, about 20% left, but yeah progress has been really slow because I'm not feeling well! Urgh!

message 3213: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6133 comments I'll wait for my library to acquire all volumes before diving into TG:Re. Thankfully, I've got plenty of great manga recommendations from a certain TBR Demon to keep me occupied in the meantime :D

I did not realize there are actually two spin-offs (one being more interesting than the other to me, Vigilante/Illegals, not sure how it is called). Anyone has read them?

I haven't! I dunno if they're any good though. I don't think it's penned by the Kohei himself.

Hahaha. Well, that demon is quite experienced and gave me plenty of great ideas of exciting new things to try.

Spicing things up is essential for a healthy reading life, after all...

I haven't even read the manga. I plan to get to it once Season 3 of the anime finishes.

EDIT: Wait... Is Vigilante about Stain? 'Cause that would be awesome!

You really should! The recent episodes have been super awesome!

message 3221: by Virginie (new)

hahhahaa but I don't want to include my manga into my shelves unlesss there's a full series omnibus kind of thing. I don't like seeing my Goodreads shelves bloated! xD

Correct - I understand it is penned by Hideyuki Furuhashi and artist Betten Court.

I really do not know and I am intrigued by the idea. I know Eraser Head is featured there so that gets me going.

And I will take some seconds of your time to actually share a dream of mine. Mangaka. I would love to be able to write and draw the stories as these guys do (don't get me wrong, I know the successful ones have teams working with them but they start on their own). Close the Fabiola (being my real name) dream.

Mmmh. Maybe you can manually log an omnibus on your spreadsheet without entering it in GR. For example, the TG volumes are 224 pages each, so you could enter 'Tokyo Ghoul: Complete Series' with 14*224=3136 pages. With the manga points reduction, it's only worth a little more than 7.5 points for the entire series but hey! Every point counts, right?

That way, you won't clutter your shelves nor your spreadsheet...
Can we do that, Captain? :D

Yes, no problem. We're all on the honor system anyway and I can imagine logging even one manga series would be all-consuming lol. I feel the same way about my animorphs books - I love them but they skew all the stats.

message 3227: by Virginie (last edited Jul 16, 2018 09:00AM) (new)

Virginie | 6133 comments Yeah. I started logging all my mangas read this year volume by volume both on GR and the spreadsheet... I'm really regretting not thinking of simply logging the omnibus earlier.
Can't really go back now that I've created a shit-tons of stats for my mangas (that's what started the spreadsheet madness, btw)

So I'll keep adding all my mangas! I'm at 108 volumes so far! ^_^"

I might actually hit 365 books this year if I include the mangas :O

Thank you, Virginie!

I am taking a break from World of Warcraft until the new expansion comes out, so that gave me a lot of extra time for reading these last couple of months, as I normally play a bit everyday and raid 3 nights per week with friends.

From August 13 onwards I will be back to the normal gaming and reading schedule. :)

Miche | 3279 comments I finally found a good balance between genres of books and this has been helping me. If I stick to one genre only I get mini slumps.

With each cover reveal, that series is creeping closer and closer to actually getting read. I'm glad to hear it's so good! :)
