Tentacles for example 😂

Virginie wrote: "I'll be reading Malazan in 2019. I'm scared now :o"Scared should actually be replaced by anxious hype! One of the best fantasy series of all times.
I actually joined this FBR group about 2 years ago because Scott and Jenna referred to the Malazan lore in their extended name and I realized they are just in love with the series as I am, if not even more!

Don't be scared, we can do that together!

This group is a big Malazan and Sanderson fanclub x)

Yay! To be honest, I'm afraid I'll be so slow reading it that I won't be able to keep up with the BR schedule :p

that is perfectly fine - you progress at your own pace!
Also, if you can, try to pair it with the audiobook. I find it helps me reading, by allowing me to keep a steady pace, by allowing me to progress also when I am doing something else and by helping me when I am a bit more tired!

Just have to find buddies that read at a similar pace... that's how Miche/Angela did it...

Another amazing book of Malazan. :)"
Woohoo! Awesome, Miche!

Niki Hawkes wrote: "Good book?"It's the first UF book I've liked in a long time, as far as new series go. A Native American woman, set on a Navajo reservation after a world flooding apocalypse, drawing entirely on Native American lore? It was a welcomed breath of fresh air for me after getting burned out on the rehashed and recycled vampire/werewolf/shifter plots. So, in short, I liked it. :-)
I've got another question: can I (only) count a non-fantasy book for the team challenge if I can count it for one of the other challenges (cover, a-z etc.) as well?

I did the ebook + audio combo with The Wheel of Osheim and it was wonderful. It's great to have the audio when reading late. I need to do that more often :)
Iain wrote: "Just have to find buddies that read at a similar pace... that's how Miche/Angela did it..."Yeah. I'm usually quite slow when reading books with deep and complex worldbuilding/plot. I love theorizing. Well, you probably saw that during our Age of Swords BR... I end up pondering each chapter and trying to find connections if the book is engaging me.
If someone wants to read Malazan at snail pace with plenty of crazy ideas and theories, I'm your gal! ;)
Bea wrote: "I've got another question: can I (only) count a non-fantasy book for the team challenge if I can count it for one of the other challenges (cover, a-z etc.) as well?"You can count any book you read for the team challenge. I'm counting mangas, some are including their textbooks, etc. If it fits in a challenge (cover, a-z, etc.), then you get the bonus points :D

That is how Angela and I are doing it. Malazan is a series that thrives with a good buddy read partner. :)
Petrik wrote: "I can only imagine! When did you first start Gardens of the Moon? I'm going to follow that Ultimate Reading Order too but I'll skip the novellas!"I found the novellas underwhelming and not worth their price. You can fully enjoy Malazan without reading thrm. :)
Just keep in mind the quality of the Novels of the Malazan Empire isn't at the same level of the Malazan Book of the Fallen. It expands the world and the characters, so I still recommend reading them at least once. I will only reread the main series.

"House of Chains was the one I liked least so far (still 4 stars though). The first 25% followed a new character and it took me a while to warm it up to this new addition.

That's great, thank you! :)
Miche thanks for the heads up on the novellas. I'm a completionist at heart but I might skip those at your advice.
Miche wrote: "I found the novellas underwhelming and not worth their price. You can fully enjoy Malazan without reading thrm. :) "Oh good, because so far I've not been reading them. I'm currently in House of Chains which, like you, is my least favorite in the series so far. Still good but it's not been as emotionally gripping as the first three, which were all five star reads for me. I'm leaning towards four stars for this one.
Niki Hawkes wrote: "Miche thanks for the heads up on the novellas. I'm a completionist at heart but I might skip those at your advice."You can always read them later on. If my library had them I would read all of them at some point, but they cost pretty much the same price of the main books and the novellas are just ok in my opinion.

The next book is much better, even if you will get a new set of characters. :)

Yup! That's what TS told me too! Skip the novella, read Empire only once, no need to reread it again xD
I made my first points! :)Title: The Murder of Roger Akroyd
Author: Agatha Christie

Challenge: Book Cover
I wasn't feeling fantasy yesterday so I picked this one up. It was great, I love Agatha Christie!
@Bea: I modified your spreadsheet so you can enter the challenge directly under the 'Challenge?' column (F column). Anything other than an empty cell or 'N' will trigger the bonus point. Also, I realized I wasn't very clear when I answered you earlier. You can count any book you finished since your sign-up date, June 28th, even if you weren't officially in the team yet. With a little stalking on your profile, I found 4 books you can claim points for: Traitor's Moon, The Scar, The Women in White and The Library at Mount Char.
:D

Thank you :)
So I've got two more books I can count since I started The Woman in White and Traitor's Moon before I signed up.
I added:
Title: The Scar
Author: China Mièville
Pages: 578
BR: Yes
Challenge: Yes (Book Cover)
Title: The Library at Mount Char
Author: Scott Hawkins
Pages: 390
BR: Yes
Challenge: Yes (Book Cover)
My points are added to the Scorecard now, but now my sheet refuses to obey me because the challenge points are only added when I write Y, not when I write "Book Cover"...
Virginie wrote: "Oh, I forgot to drag the formula! Oops. Sorry :pI fixed it ;)

Haha, no problem :) Thanks for fixing it!
Oh wow! It must be time for me to add another update for my books 😈
It won't be a lot lol.
We can do it!!

Great addition to the series. :)

Ok, so this week-end, I finished Bookburners: The Complete Season 1, brought UTD Vinland Saga (great manga, read it Niki!), stressed over France's game, cheered and right after, finished Age of War.My emotions are all over the place right now :O
