I liked your presents. Good...I got WoK and WoR as bday presents back arnd Xmas...go chk out Siobhan's pics please....
Siobhan's pics? Where?EDIT: I also got a toolbox with the basic tools from my dad. People were all O_O at the restaurant when I opened my gift, exclaimed "YAY! AMAZING!" and proceeded to unscrew a leg of my chair.
Virginie wrote: "Siobhan's pics? Where?"On her profile. She has upmoaded some photos. There is a small button on the side...which says...more....
Oh Virginie...😂😂 really...I shouldn't...
Edit: cool! Oh and even cooler that the restau allowed it....
Mmmh... They actually didn't allow it. But it put it back in less than 10 sec. Thanks to my wonderful toolbox. :p
Virginie wrote: "Mmmh... They actually didn't allow it. But it put it back in less than 10 sec. Thanks to my wonderful toolbox. :p"Yes indeed. Now did you see the pics? There is one with a coffee mug and Paddington Bear (my fave)
And one with her Mockingbird notes.
When are you uploading some of your journal notes?? Oh pls dp a Shallan notes page, and I might do a Dalinar....
Yeah, I saw! I loooove the mug. I might buy myself one for an additional belated birthday present 😀 That's not an impulse buy, I have a valid reason! :pMmmh... I haven't really made notes yet. Unless you count "grabing the closest piece of paper, writing a few words and shoving it into my pocket". :p
But I will make notes and send you pics for our next read together :)
Cool. And if you have read Riyria's middle book...come chk out my gigantic and TOTALLY OPPOSING series guesses and megaspoils...I typed and posted and now (as usual) I am greedy + despo + impatient for replies...bcuz I REALLY wanna talk Riyria...But everybody already moved onto Vicious....😂
Ah well, better log out then...
And sorry for being late with the birthday wishes agn + you should totally buy the coffee mug. AND the Paddington Bear 😂😂😂
Zaara wrote: "Cool. I'm a bit wary of the BR thread 'cause I'm afraid of accidentally post spoilers :/
Oh nooo, I missed it too, happy belated Birthday Virginie :)And a toolbox is a great present, it's really satisfyingto repair something on your own!

That was funnier than expected!
Miche, do you want to read #3 with me at some point? Not right now, I don't think I can take another dose of Alcatraz humor at the moment, but soon-ish?

Great job! Your read-cations are bringing a staggering amount of points to the Fluffers :D
Virginie wrote: "Miche, do you want to read #3 with me at some point? Not right now, I don't think I can take another dose of Alcatraz humor at the moment, but soon-ish?"Great job, Virginie! It was fun to read that one with you! :)
Would begin or mid-August work for you? Somehow I found myself with 5 buddy reads scheduled for July, all between 460-1280 pages. Keep in mind the 1280 pages is a Malazan one, so that counts as 1280x2 as I take twice as long to read those, lol.
Virginie wrote: "Great job! Your read-cations are bringing a staggering amount of points to the Fluffers :D."Thank you!
The good life ends today. :(
Age of War was supposed to be released before July. When they pushed back the publication date it messed up my schedule. :(
Hehe. I'm happy it got pushed back 'cause it gave me the time to read the first two books. I can now read the new release with the rest of the cool kids :p

It was lovely while it lasted. ;)

What is the "fantasy of manners" subgenre? That's a new one to me...but now I'm super curious.

Sounds like Gail Carriger steampunk to me... vampires and werewolves and manners in 1850s England... werewolves are the bottom of the supernatural totem pole because nudity is so vulgar...

@Veronica: I was doing a Fantasy subgenre challenge and found this post:https://www.tor.com/2008/11/13/fantas...
Honestly, Swordspoint has no Fantasy element beyond the setting (not our world). I'm not great at categorizing books (or movies/TV-shows for that matter)... I'd say the defining element is the 'wry' humor and sophisticated society.
Thanks for the link, Virginie. Sounds like something I need to explore. I see people mentioned Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell in the comments section and I read and loved that.
I've had the first two books of that on my shelves for ages. I'm glad to hear it was a good read. I'm doing a huge book purge right now, so I'm highly influenceable. Lol
I'm already feeling lighter. :) it's going to be nice looking at what's left and actually wanting to read them all.
