Book gods help me, my Book Outlet online shopping cart is getting bigger by the minute.

message 2002: by Lena (new)

Lena Careful now. Might want to wait for a sale, they have them often.

message 2003: by Miche (new)

Miche | 3279 comments Great job, team!

I am trying to finish one more book before the month ends, so I will hold my monthly tally until then. :)

Virginie | 6132 comments Ok. I'm finally admitting I won't be able to join the BR for the Faithful and the Fallen this time around. I've been trying for a month to read Malice and can't get into it. I'm just not in the mood :'(

message 2006: by Petrik (new)

Petrik (petrikleo) | 1546 comments Thank you all. Also, so many awesome monthly tally, great job guys!!

@virginie: don't force reading something that you're not in the right mood for! :D

message 2007: by Miche (last edited May 30, 2018 10:19AM) (new)

Miche | 3279 comments I have been reading this one since the beginning of the month. I struggled with it until I hit the 70% a couple of days ago. Finally it got to the point where things got interesting.

My dilemma was that I REALLY wanted one title, but they only had 2 left. And it takes an order of $35 to get free shipping. I did it. But I got 9 awesome books (6 of which I've read already and loved) for like $40. Not a bad deal.

I have a sickness.

I've been trying too. My main issue is that I'm all of the sudden gung ho about getting through books I already own and it feels like I'm wasting time from my goal to dive into it. I'm not bored with the story, but higher priority things keep making me set it aside (like Murderbot). I went in with such good intentions lol. Perhaps I will finish before the next book starts.

message 2010: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6132 comments @Petrik: Yeah. I think this series has the potential of being a favorite. I just can't take a slow, complex epic series right now, and I'm afraid stubbornly trying to read it will ruin it for me.

The Faithful and the Fallen is one of my personal favorite series of all times. A slow epic fantasy story that is completely worth all my time - I just loved it.
I agree with you though: You need to be in the right mind set to enjoy it thoroughly!

message 2012: by Petrik (new)

Petrik (petrikleo) | 1546 comments I second what Aristea said! :)

message 2013: by Solseit (new)

Solseit | 1516 comments Talking about epic series that excited me a lot - not only I am into "Of Gods and Blood" (and cannot wait to get off of work to delve into Wrath of Empire) but I am restarting the Lightbringer series. I think it was one of the first fantasy series I resumed reading (after the Chronicle of the Unhewn throne) and I was completely captivated by the magic system (and Gavin Guile). I am in a reading frenzy one more time - I just wish I was more consistent with my reading!

I'm going to reread that series next year! Might as well, the last book comes out next year anyway! Have to plan these reread because my god, so many unfinished series that require a reread over and over again xD

message 2016: by Lena (new)

Lena Not a bad deal at all. I’m behind on my shelves and yesterday I received three boxes of books, one from a friend, two from Goldsboro. One the one hand, Book joy! On the other hand, I need to add them to my overflowing shelves challenge.

I know! and time is limited! I just wanted to re-read Sins of Empire - it took me so little to rush through it - and I am sure I will just inhale Wrath of Empire. Which will imply I will need to re-read it next year before book #3.
Brian McClellan was a Sanderson student; the styles are different but they both have something in common - they write books that are just addictive for me.

My son chose that book to read over the summer for the AP English class he's registered for next school year. He's not a reader (how I birthed him, I have no idea) so he's not happy about it and even less happy that he actually has to read a book over the summer. He'll grumble for an hour over having to read 20 pages.

Meanwhile, his younger sister is working her way through Harry Potter. She's up to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

My youngest son is currently obsessed with Captain Underpants. God help me.

Nah, it's all part of a big evil plan to take over the world. And I'm doing the updates during my work time, when I need to relax.
(Yes, Excel is relaxing to me...)
That's why I always post "up to date": so I know where in the thread I last stopped.

BTW, thank you for the heads up on the Picstitch website. I'd tried to find a good one a few times and couldn't. I love how the pattern turned out:

Ha! I picstitched that one, too. But I ended up settling for the Shalash one in Oathbringer, where she's taking off her mask. I haven't cross stitched in a while though so I started on small bookmarks first. I'll post the bridge 4 one I did over the weekend when I get home tonight :-)

Miche wrote: "How big will be your aida, Niki?"

It will be 400x240 when complete, and I'm doing a 14 count so it will be 29 inches (length) by 17 inches (height). 96000 stitches. I'm stoked to finally have a project I'm excited to work on. I just printed out WoR cover art and was thinking to maybe switch back and forth. So far I've completed 1.5% of the project haha.

That's the one my husband wanted me to do, but we ended up buying the jumbo print of it. I don't need 2 of them in my house. The Jasnah Oathbringer cover is another one I love. I might do that one instead.
