Zaz | 2969 comments This prompt is about reading an author who has the same first and last initials.

Check your TBR for an author you already wanted to read, there are plenty of well known authors with same intials, so maybe 1-2 are hidding in your TBR.
If you want someone new or have no idea, you can find below the group collection, courtesy of the early planners (check also the discussion that will follow for more recent ideas).

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments First one I found on my kindle was The Bird Eater by Ania Ahlborn. So that was settled. I haven't read anything by this author before.

message 3: by Cheri (new)

Cheri (jovali2) | 542 comments I love it when prompts point me to books I've been meaning to read but have forgotten about! I started Shakespeare's Wife by Germaine Greer a couple years ago and was enjoying it, but didn't get too far for various reasons. I plan to go back and finish it!

message 4: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3837 comments Here's another author, not on the list, sci-fi writer Ben Bova. So many to choose from!

Angie | 65 comments I'm probably going to go with something by Sam Shepard for this prompt. We lost him in 2017, and I'd like to celebrate his life by reading something from him. I might do True West, one of his Pulitzer-nominated plays. I could also do one of his short story collections. I've previously read the play Buried Child and loved it.

message 6: by Clare (new)

Clare (-clare-) | 115 comments I'm probably reading something by Hugh Howey for this one.

One of my goals for the year is to read 6 personal development books, and Brené Brown will fit perfectly for that.

If I end up meeting my goal before getting to this prompt, I was also looking at reading White Noise by Don DeLillo, 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff, or Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta.

Arielle Young | 34 comments La Belle Sauvage By Philip Pullman

For this prompt you don't need to find someone with the same initials as you. You just need to find an author whose initials are the same for their first and last names. AA, BB, CC, etc. You can see some examples in the first post. Much easier to find!

Jillian | 2871 comments This is my first prompt for the year. I'm reading On the Slam (A Bridge Club Mystery Book 1) by Honor Hartman On the Slam/Honor Hartman. I mainly picked it because in a different group we have a group interactive challenge where we try to find different things on the cover and I was looking for a book with a playing card on the cover. The library had this one and it just so happens to fulfill this prompt too!

message 20: by Angie (new)

Angie | 65 comments I wound up doing Cinder by Marissa Meyer. It wasn't what I originally had planned, but since I had to read it for a face-to-face book club, I switched out my other choices. I wasn't a huge fan of the book, but it was a quick read.

Definitely second this recommendation, and if you can listen to it, Aziz is HILARIOUS in his narration.

message 27: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2360 comments I read The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America is Tearing Us Apart by Bill Bishop for this one. I had a hard time finding something I wanted to read for this topic. And this one was just okay. Interesting idea, but I was underwhelmed by the execution.

Cat Clarke

Is he/she a new author for you?
No, I've read two of her other books. A Kiss in the Dark and Torn

message 35: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments What did I actually end up reading for this category? I went off plan because I was finishing up the Miss Peregrine Trilogy and it fit here. So I didn't read Bird Box( although I still want to). I read Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs. This completed the series for me. I enjoyed most of it, but I felt like this last one was too long. I tried the movie for the first book and it was such a horrible adaptation that I got angry and ended up turning it off, lol.

message 36: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Brown | 371 comments What are you reading for this category?
Take One

Who is the author?
Karen Kingsbury

Is he/she a new author for you?
No. I voted for this category in the polls with this author in mind knowing I had plenty of books on my shelf to read by her. This is the next one in the Baxter series I had on deck.

Looking through the posts, I didn`t realize all the other authors I could have read and even have on my list to read this year like Hugh Howey (one of my faves), Marissa Meyer, and Ransom Riggs. I agree Tracy- that movie adaption was horrendous. I actually went to the movie theater to see it.

I read the book first and didn't liked it (I liked the pictures though) .... maybe it was because of that! My expectations for the movie were so low that anything would have been fine :D

Anabell | 40 comments What are you reading for this category?
The Sword of Summer
Who is the author?
Rick Riordan

Is he/she a new author for you?
Yes, he is a new author to me. I have heard him mentioned so many times lately that I thought it was about time I read some of his books. I have seen the 'Percy Jackson' movies but never read the books. When I saw he had written one with Norse Mythology I had to read that series first.
