So, recently, I bought first edition "King Albert's Book". And the previous owner really let this piece wither away. I know a couple of restoration guys who will restore everything from torn pages, to missing parts in a book. But, what should you do and not do to ensure that the value of the book itself doesn't go down?
And where to draw the line? For example, personally I would never buy a "rare" book which wasn't as is. I like stuff as is, other than bindings, and other things to ensure the book does not loose pages or quality. What are some of the dos and don'ts for book restoration?
