Welcome to the group and the challenge! :) I see a ton of books we have in common in all of your lists... I think we'll get along. :) My 1 year old is also well on his way with a ton of chewed up board books haha. Start them young.

message 3: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1718 comments Oh no, how far did you read in Dragonriders of Pern? Did you get through the first trilogy at least? I love them so much but some do go all over the place with different characters and settings.

message 4: by Dhana Latchmi (new)

Dhana Latchmi Mahesh (latchmigirl) | 10 comments @Niki,
“Start them young”
I agree.
Reading is absolutely important but sadly so many children that I know of (& hear of) do not bother. I believe in having at least a mini library at home and I think everyone & especially parents should have that.

I always feel people who don’t read, miss out on the magic of it.
We wake up in the morning, go to sleep at night and do the same routine all over next day, we need something to escape that endless cycle.

My personal thought on reading:

I believe our human brain is a powerful, complex organ & it needs constant fuel or charge of some kind. Books being a gateway to another world, exploring another life is that brain fuel.

Simply put: Reading helps our boring lives to become more manageable before we start to yearn for Morpheus to show up with a red pill or find that Grandfather clock to take us to Fillery.

I’ve been around Goodreads for sometime. Lost my old account details and ended up creating a new one few years back. This is my first time joining groups in Goodreads though. I really like the idea of “Buddy reading”. So I’m quite happy that I’m here to explore and enjoy reading with some of you :)

message 5: by Dhana Latchmi (new)

Dhana Latchmi Mahesh (latchmigirl) | 10 comments @Jessica,
I only read the first book of the trilogy and the male protagonist F’lar (I think) didn’t set in well for me, if I remember correctly. Time travelling with dragon seems fun but I don’t get that couple’s relationship and how it all started kinda bothered me a bit.
I might give it a try again in the future if I’m done with other books on my list.

I can't list them either, at last count I was over 200 series either up to date, or partially done.
I can't type that fast to put them in, and if I did, I would be depressed.

This list is impressive! And daunting. I I were you I'd copy and paste is somewhere in your personal files to back up all that hard work. Now you can focus on whittling it down! :)

I almost abandoned it after book 2, but decided to stick it out. I loved book 1, but books 2 and 3 were not as good to me. I'm glad I finished the series though because I was able to move on to the second era. I'm one of those weird people who like the second era books way better.

Tammie | 3890 comments It is a great list Dhana. Good idea there Niki about backing it up. I think I'll do the same with mine.

I made an unassuming little page on my blog where I backed it up. It seemed like a good place lol. After spending hours creating and tweaking the list, it would be tragic to lose.

I dread the day I'll delete something by accident while trying to moderate something else.

Great list Dhana, Good luck!

Do you want one of us mods to delete your first lot of lists, or another idea is you can edit them and just reserve that space for future?

A lot of us have, as the challenge has gone on used multiple comment spaces.
