Louise O'Connell (httpwwwgoodreadscomlouiselake) | 11 comments Seven years after the eventful night that Mina was almost turned into a vampire, she is now happily married to Jonathan Harker and has a lovely son called Quincy until her past comes back to haunt her.
Mina’s life is thrown into turmoil as a gypsy sorceress with a hidden agenda casts a spell from the book of the dead to bring Dracula back from his grave.
Mina’s worst nightmares are unleashed as her husband and child are brutally slaughtered and she is reborn with a bloodthirsty appetite and dark vengeance.
Seeking revenge and to be reunited with her loved ones, Mina battles against all odds and survives into the twenty first century, until a handsome stranger arrives to document Mina’s life who is not quite what he seems…
Mina Harker: The Curse of the Vampire is a compelling sequel to Dracula, which also acts as a standalone story. Bringing back the old characters and adding new ones to create an emotional, action packed modernised fantasy from Mina’s perspective with an added twist at the end.

Mina Harker. The curse of the vampire, is a captivating read that draws your attention from the very first page. Louise Lake's version of Mina has captured a powerful side to her character and shows us there is a strong side to the once fragile Mina Murry, that was victim in Bram Stroker's novel Dracula. The dark story is filled with suspense, and had me wondering if the end was nearing for Mina, with every page I turned. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the twist at the end. A compelling read for all vampire fans. The only downside to this book, was that I could not put it down, and read it very quickly from cover to cover. Which brings me to the point, I will be looking out for more work by Louise Lake and can't wait for her new book series, Heaven's curse, coming out. Don't hesitate to purchase this book, as I am glad I did.

Louise O'Connell (httpwwwgoodreadscomlouiselake) | 11 comments A sneak preview of my interview at Smashwords:

What's the story behind your latest book?

My latest book Mina Harker: The Curse of the Vampire is a sequel to Dracula but is also a strong standalone story on its own too. It has been seven years after Dracula's death and Mina is now happily married to Jonathan and they have a son called Quincy. Mina is visited by a powerful gypsy sorceress who threatens Mina with the fact that she has brought Dracula back from his grave with a spell from the book of the dead and he now wants Mina's soul. Mina travels to Transylvania to Dracula's lair with only one intention, to kill Dracula. As Mina is swept into a web of death her life changes forever and the only taste she craves is that of sweet vengence. Mina Harker: The Curse of the Vampire is an action packed roller coaster ride through Mina's life, love and loss.

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?

The greatest joy of writing is to inspire my readers and take them to a whole new world where reality no longer exists and in it's place is a universe full of imagination where anything and everything is possible.

What do you read for pleasure?

I enjoy reading genres such as horror, paranormal fiction, period drama love stories, fantasy, adventure and self help books.

What motivated you to become an indie author?

I was motivated to become an Indie Author by the many other successful Indie Authors and I wish to make a living from what I love most, writing stories. I also want to inspire people with my writing and show that you don't have to have a university degree to become a success in your chosen career path because I believe that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
