General Chit-Chat Part 2!
Yes, the missing member is dropping in briefly (Very Busy Winter) to say hi and also (and you might have addressed this) that the link in the message about a read here doesn't work.I hope you are all well or that things work out (not even staying on but had to ask one book question).
PLUS my thumbs are acting up so my chatting has to be greatly reduced.
Wonderful news, Marina, old friends returning.Karin, nice to hear from you. Have you tried using a stylus? I have A problem with mine too, tendinitis from work, and have to use a stylus to type.

Thanks. I have an old-school PC with a keyboard (and a bad keyboard at that), but someday we'll need to replace this. We don't have a touch screen, either.

I hope his letter isn't too distressing.
A big warm up here in Illinois. Everything melting, snow falling off the roof in big clumps. Way too much mud everywhere, but the sun feels wonderful.
It's warm here too, for the time of year (40°F at almost 9 p.m.). But I heard that more snow is expected to fall Monday.
I've hinted a couple of times in the past to a big change in my life this year. I feel I can now disclose it - my boyfriend and I are moving in together before the end of the year. We are hoping to be able to do so in August-September, when my lease ends, but we don't know if that will be possible, we might need a couple of months more. I hope not, because in that case things would be difficult as far as my lease is concerned. We still have to furnish the flat, and tomorrow we will probably go to see some furniture for the kitchen. I'm so glad this is finally happening!

Congratulations Marina! That is exciting news

Neil Diamond has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour (50th anniversary), and retires from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. I have lots of disappointed friends who had tickets, including my two sisters.
Hello everyone. Haven’t been on this group in a long time, but it’s good to see that it’s grown quite a bit. I promised myself that I would try to be more engaged here this year.

Charbel, wonderful to hear from you, looking forward to hearing from you more often? How are you doing?Marina, awesome news, wishing you the best of luck.
Ursula Leguin has also died. I just read her newest book of essays, they were wonderful. Fell in love with her writing and even though I am not a scyfy fan, I bought a book of her shorts.
Thanks everyone. My studies are going well (only 2.5 years of medical school to go), though they do keep me rather busy. I need to practice better time management.I hope everyone is doing well.

Same. I missed all my book buddies.
Charbel - Good luck with your studies- I guess you start clinical rotations soon, exciting! I specifically go to Docs at the local med school because I like meeting/being treated by the med students. Their optimism & enthusiasm is infectious :-)I’m new to the group so we have never crossed paths.

I can tell you that we really appreciate patients like you, who are willing to put up with our questions and practicing our examination techniques. Not everyone is ok with us being there, and their feelings are valid, but it makes our encounters with those who are willing much more memorable.
So good to see you again, Charbel! I was just thinking about where you’d got to yesterday. Hope the uni is going well
Charbel, how lovely to hear from you. I'm glad your studies are going well, I'm sure you're very busy! I hope everything else is well with you :)
Charbel, great to see you here again. I've often wondered how things were going for you.Still missing our great group member, Gill. Hoping that things are okay with her.

So happy to have Charbel posting!!
We all miss Gill I think! Not only her posts about books (covering a wide range) but her enthusiasm and empathy.
Gill will always be in our hearts. I feel so gratefull that I had the chance of meeting her in person...
Sadly, Gill has become more unwell recently according to her Facebook
I don’t have a huge amount of information but I think Greg is going to set up a thread over the next couple of days where we can share our thoughts for Gill and her family and give the group some updates. I do know that Gill has spoken to her daughters with affection about her goodreads friends and misses everybody
