Congrats! I'm glad it went to well.
Thank you all so much, Petra, Chrissie, Greg, Esther, Pink, Bette & Karin! I truly appreciate your friendship and support 😄

Joan wrote: "Is the pizza really named after a queen?
Beautiful picture, thanks."
Yes! She has been the first Queen of the Italy reunited in 1861. With her husband, the King Vittorio Emanuele II after the reunification, she went aroung the country to "present" the new Monarchy. When they arrived in Naples, some "pizzaioli" offered them the famous Pizza Margherita, being "patriotic": the red of the tomato sauce, the white of the Mozzarella and the green of the basil leaf reminded the flag of the new nation, our "tricolore". And the real original pizza had the mozzarella cut in slices and places as a daisy, a Margehrita!

Italians have invented a lot! Banking, modern book keeping, art and of course Leonardo da Vinci, look at all his inventions.
Joan wrote: "LauraT - delicious, and to think I thought pizza was invented in New York"AHHHH! You just killed us!
Chrissie wrote: "Italians have invented a lot! Banking, modern book keeping, art and of course Leonardo da Vinci, look at all his inventions."
Don't forget Christopher Columbus, Amerigo Vespucci and Galileo Galilei. Well, Columbus and Vespucci maybe didn't invent something new but they are important too above all for America.
Marina, so sad to hear that your ex is still bothering you. He should use his efforts and energies to find a new girlfriend so maybe he stops stalking you.
Alice, congratulations! You must be proud of yourself! I hope your book will sell a lot of copies.
Pink, a song performed with the mandolin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8hty...
Thanks for the link dely. I vaguely know what mandolins are, but not that they were an Italian invention. Now the pope mobile, I would hope that's pure Italian!
Pink wrote: "Pizza of course, but Mandolino?!?"
So they say!!!!
It is always in the hands of Pulcinella, a mask of the Italian Comedy; wikipedia this says about it:
"There are many styles of mandolin, but three are common, the Neapolitan or round-backed mandolin,,,"
Probably we invented it as well, or at least the napoletans did!!! As for the pizza

To all my friends in the US Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you have a wonderful day with family, friends and good food. I have a lot to be thankful for and one of them is the connections I have made with all of you!

Thanks for the Thanksgiving greeeting - ironically, half of my family is visiting Canada right now!
Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends here! I returned home yesterday from my Hong Kong trip and am still adjusting to Vancouver time :) It's good though I had a night of sound sleep and woke up this morning refreshed!
Last night I watched Agatha Christie's Dead Man Folly and was interested to find that the movie was filmed in her residence and grounds, Greenway. What a gorgeous property.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. I had a wonderful day with mother and my brother, his fiance and my niece and nephews.
Let me add my Thanksgiving wishes to all. I've had a quiet day with my husband and son. We had a nice meal, drank some good wine, and cleaned up together. Now we're settling in for the evening. There's definitely some pie in our future!
One of the things I'm most thankful for is the fellowship of readers I've found here in AAB.

Rue Bixby was born today at 12:23 pm. My daughter ended up having a Ceasarian, as after hours of non productive pushing, babys head stuck in the birth canal. No wonder, baby was 10 lbs. And just didn't fit. Except for a cone head for baby, mom and baby are both find. Hope everyone in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

My mom and I had a quiet Thanksgiving - missing my dad but enjoyed the food. Now I have the post-feast sleepiness but feel silly going to bed before 10 pm!

Congratulations Diane! That is a big baby!
Happy Thanksgiving (for yesterday) to anybody who celebrates!
I'm feeling very smiley today. Partly because it's Friday and I worked last weekend so I'm due some time off. But also, it's 2 years today since my first date with my lovely boyfriend. We haven't seen each other for 2 weeks as we are currently living about 3 hours apart but I'm driving to his tonight and we will celebrate this weekend
