Thanks for letting us know, Angela. Wishing Diane a speedy recovery
Diane S. Hospitals are no fun so I hope you don’t have to stay to long. Even though we cannot be there physically, all your friends here on GR are happy to chat with you virtually. Get well soon.Angela, thanks for letting us know.
Thanks so much, lucky to have such caring people in this group.Anyway feeling pretty horrible, Steroids I hate them but need them. This time they have made me so nauseous I can't eat, and the is awful. The jitters, the shakes, and it's not rock and roll. The worst is that because of the steroids and the abuterol in the nebulizer , I can't sleep. Have a hard time concentrating, and well I do need to breathe so we have to start there. Will leave here looking like a oompa loompa, with fifteen pounds to lose. But breathing!
Thanks again Angela for conveying my message.
Has anyone heard from Terri again?
Diane , I wrote her a couple of weeks ago or more and at that time she said that she and her husband were having some tests done . I have not heard from her again. I thought about sending her another note but I don’t want to pry but do want her to know we are thinking about her .
((((((((Diane)))))) Horrible what you are going through. You have got to know we all want you to feel better. And soon.

Chrissie wrote: "I didn't know people's feet change when they get older!..."Neither did I until my feet got bigger & wider in my late 40s. Bummer! Now I have trouble finding pretty shoes. I used to have a nice assortment of nice shoes; now I have the basics and am happy to find them.
Petra, this happened to me in the last two years. My feet have not gotten longer, but wider across the front, near the toes. Finding shoes isn't so simple.
Well I’m glad it’s not just me, I’d noticed that my feet are getting wider- and they weren’t narrow to begin with.At this rate I’ll soon be wearing “Herring boxes without topses” like darlin Clementine.

Thinking of you, Diane. I know that steriods are no fun at all.My thoughts often go to Terri and I hope that she gets good results from her tests.
Chrissie, see Angela's msg #508. I also remember when Terri was last here, she mentioned she suffered from bouts of pancreatitis which is a nasty condition.

If you do, please let her know that we are all wishing her well and missing her.

Ooops, I see you have already done so. Thanks for being such a caring person Angela!

{{Diane}} Sorry to hear how bad you're feeling but glad that you are better enough to be back online! I hope that you start feeling better soon!
All of this about Terri seems fuzzy. Is she sick or her husband or both? Each seems to say something a little bit different!
Chrissie, When I heard back from Terri a couple of weeks ago , she didn’t go into detail , only said that both she and her husband were undergoing some test . I assumed medical. I’ll post again if I hear back .

Fingers crossed we will hear again from her very soon. I hope this doesn't seem out of place to say, but I am very happy to be a part of a group who genuinely care about other members even though they necessarily haven't met in person.

First, I want to thank you, Angela. Secondly, I completely respect and understand those who feel a need for privacy. I hope you made clear to her that we are not trying to intrude, but are quite simply worried and hoping she and her husband are OK.
Chrissie, yes I told Terri that we didn’t want to pry but that we were thinking of her and her husband.Alannah, I agree. Even though most of us gave never met face to face , we interact with each other so often that there is a real connection.
Missing Gill , hoping Terri is okay and sending get well wishes to Diane !
I've only just read about Diane. I hope you are feeling better. I wish you as speedy a recovery as possible, and that you get out of hospital soon. Keep us posted when you feel like it.I hope Terri is fine, too. I'm sure she'll understand that none of us wants to pry, we're just sincerely worried about her.
Chrissie wrote: "Petra, this happened to me in the last two years. My feet have not gotten longer, but wider across the front, near the toes. Finding shoes isn't so simple."I know what you mean. Despite my being only in my thirties, I've had a bunion for many years. I can't wear pretty shoes at all. I somehow manage when I have to go to weddings or such, IF I can be driven there and remain seated for most of the time. I can wear nice boots in winter, though, since they are made of leather, so it gives way a little.
As for TV, I don't watch it and don't even own one :)
Angela M wrote: "Just wanted to let you know that I heard from Diane S yesterday and she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Many of you may know she has asthma and she was having serious breathing issues. I he..."Please send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Chrissie wrote: "Esther, that is an interesting idea.......but why not just do audioooks?"I should imagine it is quite a different experience, for a start audio books generally don't have a soundtrack which can have a profound effect on your emotional reaction.
Esther, the audiobook I just completed had music between each chapter. I found this disruptive to the flow of the story rather than good.
When pain is making me crazy, I find audiobooks and radio-plays very soothing. Listening to visual art, such as a film, without seeing the drama - I haven’t tried.
Chrissie wrote: "Esther, the audiobook I just completed had music between each chapter. I found this disruptive to the flow of the story rather than good."Interesting. I don't have a lot of success with audiobooks but I do like radio plays.
Esther, I do not like audiobooks of plays at all. There is so much you miss by not seeing anything with your eyes. I want to see the decor and stage settings and costumes. I want to see the movement of the actors' bodies. Plays on audiobook give you only half of what you should get.I am ONLY speaking for myself. Many react very differently from me, but I have explained shy I react as I do.
An update on my medal issues.Seems like this fine establishment has denied my parole request. I, of course, am more than willing to leave at any time, but my lungs are going rogue and not co-operating. Plus, the food here is quite, well yucky, not a very literary description but one I think says it all. On the plus side, this year my hospital socks are grey, not that abysmal green color that were provided at my last visit. Another positive, plenty to read, and while in here not spending any money. Must include something positive as an end note, and the best
I can do is the socks. Lol
Thanks so much everyone for the prayers and well wishes.
Chrissie, true. I think that is why I like radio plays - because they are created knowing that the listener cannot see the action. The directors are often very good at setting the scene aurally.
Diane S ☔ wrote: "An update on my medal issues.Seems like this fine establishment has denied my parole request. My wishes for you to come home soon and feel better are NOT very effective.
Here is something that will cheer you up MAYBE. I am about the only one reading the group read The Unseen. so far it is miserable, confusing at times and quite simply boring. What is good is that you can skip it. Others can skip it too.
Maybe it will improve?????????????? I cannot see what is good about this book.
Hi all! I haven't been online much in the past week, my mother fell and fractured her femor so I have been helping out with her, even though she is in a rehab it's always good to have an advocate on hand. Sorry to hear about Diane S. I too have asthma and when it's out of control it can be scary! Get well soon! I decided not to read this month's book The Unseen I would have had to purchase it and didn't want to spend the money this month. Looks like a good choice on my part. I do have a t.v. and I do watch it but I try to limit my time to about 2 hours a day, unless I am sick then I find the sounds soothing, probably because when I was little my mother would put me on the sofa when I was sick and turn on the t.v. It almost always goes back to childhood. Take care all hopefully I will be checking in more regularly soon!
Rebecca, you can be HAPPY you didn't waste any money on The Unseenit. At Audible I will return it if I still hate it at the end.It is good that you are keeping an eye on your Mom's situation. Quite often such is in fact necessary. Best wishes.
Diane, at least I'm sure you are comforted by knowing that if something unforeseen happens with your lungs, you are in the absolute right place for it to be dealt with. You don't want to be home for that. Is the hospital close enough for someone to bring you in a meal from home?
Diane, good news about the socks! I hope your lungs improve and you get released for some better food soon :)
Sorry to hear that you can't go home yet Diane! Are the socks the ones with the rubbery no-skid strips? When my dad was in and out of the hospital, which socks they gave him was always a matter of interest (they all had those strips but some wouldn't fit right and others were knee-high which he didn't like); I became quite familiar with them! Are you on a restricted diet? I would guess probably but if not, maybe your family could bring you in something to snack on. I used to bring Dad Clementine oranges, which the dietician said were OK, and muffins (which were not so okay but I brought them anyway!).
Sorry to hear that you still are in the hospital Diane. You made me chuckle with your post though. Hospital food has to be one of the worse only to be surpassed by nursing home food (trust me). I hope you are feeling better soon and go home. By the way, what shade of green were the socks?

I feel just so super terrible for Diane. She has so much to struggle against. And she never gives up.
